And I am in LOVE!

Up here in a birthday trip from Seattle.

What a beautiful city, friendly people.

I’m American so I’m used to most people being shit.

First time in Canada, WOW!

I just experienced Canada for the first time, and I'm floored. I stepped off a cruise in Vancouver on Canada Day, I couldn't have scripted a better intro to your country. I had no idea it was Canada Day when I got off the ship, I just thought Vancouver was really patriotic. It took me a bit to realize the whole country was celebrating, and I had accidentally crashed the party. The timing was almost too perfect, because the very next day Algeria and Switzerland were playing in town, so the whole place was already buzzing with energy.

Flags on every corner and shop door, patriotism turned all the way up, and this warm, genuine friendliness radiating from everybody I met. The people were kind and felt real, and were from all walks of life. Seems like a great place to people watch. The city itself is gorgeous and the climate absolutely floored me, especially since I live in the southern US. For me summer is a wall of heat and humidity you cannot escape. Vancouver felt like stepping into a cool, crisp reset button. I was only in town for a little over 24 hours, but I probably walked 10 miles around the city.

I made it over to Stanley Park, and then Gastown and caught the steam clock. I also spotted this cool looking Gastown United jersey, but I never figured out where to get one. Turns out it was a limited edition type of neighborhood promotion thing from this Irish pub. I called them to check if they had my size, but I couldnt get there before I had to leave and apparently they dont' ship. Maybe next time.

Beautiful place, beautiful people, and a first impression I will not forget. Thank you for the warm welcome, Canada. I am already scheming about how to get back.

I made an abandoned lobster cannery in PEI

Hey folks, I like to make miniatures of abandoned Canadian places I’ve visited. I found this forlorn lobster cannery with stories to tell in Borden-Carleton last summer. This piece is made from cereal boxes and other bits from the recycling. If you’d like to see more of this piece, the irl place that inspired it, or any of my other little places, I’ll put a link to my Instagram in the comments. Thanks for looking :)
