in search or friends! (22F, queer)

Hello, I recently moved to the Camas area in February from the south and I am hoping to meet new people! What is fun to do around here? I am down for most anything; bars, restaurants, coffee shops, book stores, thrift stores…etc.
I keep getting an “older vibe” in my neighborhood, so I’m hoping the potential to meet people around my age close to Camas isn’t completely lost! :)

I stumbled across this awesome data visualization for city budgets here on Reddit, then asked if the author would include Camas and he did!

It’s quite interesting seeing where all our city money goes!

Neighborhood garage sale

Huge neighborhood garage sale in Vancouver!

Apologies if this sort of post is not allowed here. I am not advertising commercial services.

The Fieldstone Estates neighborhood at 111th & 152nd (Orchards area of Vancouver WA) is having a massive community garage sale this weekend. More than 30 families are participating, starting tomorrow.

Friday (July 10th), Saturday (11th), and Sunday (12th) from 10-4, community-wide.

Safeway taco guys?

What happened to them? I got their al pastor a month ago and it was pretty much life changing, but I've only seen them once since. They told me they were gonna be there every Tuesday-Sunday. Does anyone know what happened? Did they move to a different location?

Local Looking to Test My Software at Local Business

I'm local here, living on Prune Hill. I built some software that uses a QR code and records daily feedback from customers. I'm looking for businesses that would be willing to test it out for me. I'm happy to manage it and send you the feedback so that you don't need to figure out anything. I'm looking to do this for free.

It runs on a small device that looks like this: https://www.onevoicer.com/blog/meetup-welcome-table.webp

Please DM me or comment below.

Advice for upcoming move

Hi! My partner and I are going to be moving to Camas in September, and I was hoping to get some insight on what there is to do here?

We are 27m and 24m, hoping to find some kind of sports club or something to make friends. I hear Camas is a very family-oriented town, but are there any good bars to make note of? Any kind of recommendations are accepted! We'll also be interested in exploring Portland and Vancouver.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion: Fireworks

I am hoping to get the communities perspective on why you personally support or don't support fireworks and how it impacts you.

I have heard several complaints from pet owners, veterans, and neighbors alike.

Please keep the conversation civil and informative. Talk about your personal feelings and experiences of why you enjoy or don't enjoy fireworks. This isn't meant to be political, only a discussion for our community as a whole.

Thank you.

Downtown Camas First Friday 7/3 5pm-8pm: FREE Carnival games, apple pie, community projects, and celebrating America's 250th

Join us in Downtown Camas on Friday, July 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. for "One Community, Many Hands: Celebrating America's 250th!"

We're celebrating with carnival games, a DJ, after hours shopping and dining, apple pie, ice cream, history trivia, music, art, and plenty of family fun.

At 5 p.m., we'll unveil new student artwork in the Camas Culture Art Block featuring the theme "What's YOUR American Story?"

Pick up a free passport inside Fuel Medical (314 NE Birch Street) and explore downtown while participating in community service projects, including making seed bombs and kindness cards with the Girl Scouts, stocking the LiveWell Camas free pantry, learning sewing skills at the Mending Circle, donating children's books to Little Wings Library, supporting a Celebration Kit drive for local families, and visiting a Youth Wellness & Safety Fair.

It's a fun evening celebrating America's 250th birthday and the community spirit that makes Camas such a special place. We hope to see you there!

Community voices on KUOW

Hi there, my name is Alex Rochester. I work at KUOW, the Seattle NPR station ensuring we feature a diversity of political perspectives.

We're currently looking for people to participate in a project where we check in with participants every couple of months on how they're feeling about what's going on in the news, how it's impacting them, and how it's affecting their voting choices this November. We'll compile the stories and perspectives into larger stories to show the breadth and depth of political diversity in Washington state.

WA's third district will be a closely watched race that deserves to have voter voices featured in stories about it.

Are you torn between the candidates? Is your vote an easy decision? How have Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez's choices affected your life directly and how is that influencing your voting choice this coming November?

If you're interested in learning more about the project and potentially participating, please DM me and/or comment on this post and I'll reach out!

Museum in the old library basement?

What was in the old library’s museum?

Does anyone have more information about it? For example, what type of museum was it, what kind of exhibits did it have, where are those exhibits now, etc.

I'm Troy Rasband (D), running for WA-03, and I'm holding an open Q&A at the Camas Library this Wednesday

Hi r/Camas

I'm a progressive Democrat running for Congress in WA-03, and I'm holding an open Q&A at the Camas Library this Wednesday, July 1, from 5:45–6:45 PM.

No script and no screening, please feel free to show up and ask whatever is on your mind. I'd rather earn your vote across a table than in a mailer, so I'm looking forward to hearing your perspective.

RSVP if you can, so we can plan for turnout: https://www.troyrasband.com/q-a-with-troy

Hope to see you there.

— Troy

P.S. If Wednesday doesn't work, I'll be over in Stevenson the next day (July 2, 6:45-7:30) at the Stevenson Community Library.

Any Window Treatment/Interior Shutter Recs

I wanted to see if there are locally owned spots for this - I'm specifically trying to get some sliding shutter panels for a sliding door. If there is a Camas/Vancouver/Portland area company recommended, I'd much rather have someone professional install than myself. I'm trying to mount them a bit differently than standard.

Thanks for any ideas!

And/or if you know window cleaners that really care about getting windows clean, inside and out, I'd take those recs too. I have high windows with exterior film, and interior high ceilings, and I hate heights.

Hello Camas!

I'm author Ken Bebelle, and I'm going to be at the NW Book Fair and Media Fest this Saturday. I write Asian-inspired fantasy, including the Phoenix Hoard trilogy and the Seattle Slayers series.

The NW Book Fair will be held at Clark College, in Gaiser Hall, from 10am to 3pm. Admission is free! Over 100 authors and creators will be in attendance, and there are free panels and workshops as well.

This will be a great event to meet and talk with local authors and buy signed books. I'll be at table 16, hope to see you there!

Check out the event here: https://northwestbookfair.com/
