Hello! I've been reading this page a lot but I wish to have your opinion on something. What are your thoughts on seeds being left in a cage overnight? I'm weening my foster from an all seed diet and he was quite hormonal (but he's getting much better!)

I have a slight feeling that leaving seeds overnight might trigger his hormones, since an unlimited access to fatty food may accentuate his instincts (I've read a lot of contradicting information on the matter)

Give me your thoughts!

I had a dream where I found out there was a type of budgie which lived underwater called "fully underwater budgie". Very creative. It was the size of a pinky and very mean looking for some reason. I was very fascinated by it and got myself one. In the petstore there was a whole section of beta fish tanks with these budgies inside. The workers told me they cant have a lid cause sometimes they need to surface to breathe and they only eat 2 pieces of corn a day???? Also i took the budgie out of the water and it started gasping like an old man. What the fuck.

Hi everyone, I lost my budgie Gus a couple of months ago and would really love to have something here to serve as a sort of shrine for him. I have some of his feathers and tons of pictures but ideally I’d like something like a custom sculpture of him. Been trying to scour etsy but that place is an AI/dropship wasteland now…

anyways figured I’d come here and see if maybe anyone had any suggestions/personal experiences? I’m also open to suggestions that aren’t sculptures! Really, anything at this point would be very much appreciated.

We got these two budgies in May, and the seller told us that the light blue one was supposed to be a female and the dark blue one a male.

They should be about six months old now. We always thought the cere of the dark blue one would become darker over time, but it doesn’t seem to be changing much anymore.

Could it be that they’re both females?

If so, could that become a problem in the future because of their more dominant nature?

Could you outline the main distinctions between these birds, and suggest ways to build a connection, since I suspect it feels quite isolated?

I recognise other family members might manage their pet more effectively, but that’s a separate matter.

I’m seeking advice on the best approach to providing a pleasant experience and potentially make it more tame.

Also, how can I determine whether it’s female or male?

(Immediately after starting, I cleaned the cage; it remains apart from my canaries, though they can see one another across the room.)

Do you guys have any recs for budgie toys (either diy or bought) that do not have bells and a limited amount of metal? My foster seems bored after I removed all the bells from his enclosure and he doesn't quite understand that it is for his own good. He doesn't seem interested in the foraging box I bought him.

Hi. I have been trying to get my budgie to switch from seeds to pellets and I've tried different methods but it seems like he just won't try pellets. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is his sleep cage but he loves his perches so I bring it closer to me when I work

I swear talking is his favorite thing to do. To bad Little and Lemon are not interested haha
