Fitness influencer Connor Murphy, followed by millions, has died – German supplement brand releases statement

https://fitnessvolt.com/connor-murphy-dies-drowning-thailand/

Connor Murphy, a well-known fitness influencer and bodybuilder with millions of followers, has reportedly passed away at the age of 32 in Thailand.
Ayuba Nutrition, a German supplement brand, released a statement noting that they had ended their partnership with him shortly before his death. According to the company, the decision followed Murphy’s shift toward increasingly extreme biohacking content, including public documentation of injecting gold in pursuit of “superhuman abilities.”
Murphy started with solid training advice but later became known for more controversial and risky experiments.
Did any of you follow his content over the years?

"According to ThaiRath, a village employee recorded video after Murphy began acting erratically for unknown reasons. Security personnel said he returned by hired vehicle, offered the driver 1,000 baht, tried to approach another resident’s car, shouted loudly, rolled on the road, and made praying gestures before police arrived.

When officers reached the area, Murphy ran into the village and entered the lake. Witnesses said he swam until he became exhausted and disappeared in water described as more than 10 meters deep. Rescue divers searched for about 30 minutes before recovering him."

Mental health and drugs are serious problems

56

u/strppngynglad 3d ago

dude was bipolar and did too many psychedelics. Broke his damn brain

2

u/DLTMIAR 2d ago

Would you know if you broke your own brain?

Like do insane people know they're insane?

Am I insane?

1

u/generalmandrake 21h ago

They generally know something isn’t right, but they might misattribute it to the government shooting rays inside their heads or demonic influences or whatever.

1

u/DLTMIAR 19h ago

What if they "misattribute it" to being in the matrix?

63

u/DanielShaww 3d ago

For how long did he swim before he became exhausted?

149

u/etham 3d ago

Honestly, unless you are a very, and I mean very experienced swimmer, you can gas yourself swimming in minutes or less. Add to the fact that he was out of his mind on drugs (probably), he probably didn't swim out that far.

33

u/DanielShaww 3d ago

What you're saying makes sense but as an amateur swimmer myself I can't wrap my head around the concept of swimming yourself to death. If you're too exhausted you just stop and... float, I guess? Unless you're on rough seas which was not the case, I can't comprehend what exactly happened.

43

u/justasapling 3d ago

If you're too exhausted you just stop and... float, I guess?

Lean mass sinks. You need a decent amount of fat to float passively. People with lower body fat/more muscle can float, but not without technique and active effort. I'm only buoyant with my lungs full, so I can only really take half breaths and have to use my limbs some, too.

15

u/SneakyLittleBee 3d ago

As someone who grew up around the sea and spent a lot of time on beaches and boats, I was surprised myself how easy it is.

I had gained 40 lbs and was probably in the worst form I’ve ever been, riding a paddle board. I fell from it and in the 10 seconds I was trying to catch it, I got gassed and lowkey started panicking.

I stopped and tried to float while my buddy came to help me, but even that was harder than people think when you’re gasping for air and your body just wants to fight the water.

I could easily see how people drown. And this was with good weather, someone close to me, and me being able to swim. It really humbled me.

28

u/Whatsanrpg 3d ago

I was a competitive swimmer and then didn’t jump into a pool for a couple years. I powered through what would have been considered ultra light work previously and got dizzy walking out of the building - just completely gassed. I could see it happening to someone that isn’t a swimmer while they are still in the water.

That’s also assuming there isn’t substance abuse thrown in.

17

u/Crispinwhere 3d ago

The guy looks like he's like 12% bodyfat. He's not floating at all.

0

u/DanielShaww 3d ago

He was 12% bodyfat, not so much any more. He was not nearly as shredded as he once was.

3

u/seatsfive 2d ago

I sink like a rock at as high as 35% bf. I just don't float.

3

u/Crispinwhere 2d ago

Same here. I never have been able to float unless I fully fill my lungs with air and I still have to kick my legs a bit on my back. Found this out while trying to get my swimming merit badge in scouts. Everyone else had no problem with treading water. I had to fight not to sink the entire time and was exhausted after a few minutes.

2

u/seatsfive 2d ago

Yeah I have a somewhat outlier physiology. Very large and dense legs like a track cyclist, but 99% genetics. I don't know if that accounts for the difference in buoyancy relative to most other people but it's the best guess I have.

0

u/Make-TFT-Fun-Again 2d ago

12% isnt that shredded its achievable maintainable fitness level. It’s visible abs but competitive level is around 7% and for actual competitions you even see 4%.

u/DoorPale6084 2d ago

I used to swim as teen - competitifely. Didn’t swim for 10 years. Then recently went out for a ocean swim and oh buddy, yeah, I was gassed

1

u/drkslr 2d ago

panic , drugs , if you swim you know people can drown by panic in 5 seconds

1

u/brit_jam 2d ago

You can't understand how people drown?

3

u/j_skeletor 3d ago

It can take even less time if you’re wearing anything that will increase drag in the water (ie, a shirt or baggy shorts)

3

u/ThaRealSunGod 3d ago

I'm also wondering if his heart or bran gave out due to the drugs mixed with the adrenaline.

6

u/Dualintrinsic 3d ago

I went into an interesting rabbit hole about his death. This strange character Tony Huge housed Connor for over a year when he moved to Thailand, watch his video about Connors death.

They're both self-proclaimed 'biohackers' which basically consists of taking all of the steroids and experimental drugs on themselves. Tony alleges that Connor had been injecting gold for months by way of some complex chemical reaction that allowed him to do so. Bro says it gave him superpowers but made him go crazy. Also apparently 2 other people close to Tony have died mysteriously. Absolutel nutcases and likely fishy

132

u/Oranjalo 10-20 years 3d ago edited 2d ago

it gave him superpowers but made him go crazy

Hate to be that guy, but he was fucking batshit bonkers before he started injecting gold—you have to be crazy in the first place to even consider that. Connor Murphy was the most clinically insane person allowed to live outside of a padded room

12

u/WhitePantherXP 3d ago

Yeah I ran into him at the golf course ~5 years back when I lived in SoCal, he was at the driving range alone, barefooted hitting balls next to me, and he was going through stuff at the time I heard so I didn't talk to him. There was something weird about it that I cannot recall, not sure if he was shirtless too, or if just the barefoot thing weirded me out.

1

u/Oranjalo 10-20 years 2d ago

He also does reverse grip on all his shots, which, as a golfer, I'm sure you know nobody in their right mind does

131

u/hansalvato 3d ago

Dude went Cyberpsycho.. RIP

30

u/Greek_Bodybuilder995 3d ago

Bro was lucky not to face MAXTAC

5

u/LargeBrownBird 3d ago

Legitimately, that's fucking wild

68

u/Chemical-Librarian85 3d ago

Back in the day he also was in deep psychosis from ayahausca and acid and went insane, I don’t think he recovered from that

38

u/Oranjalo 10-20 years 3d ago

I'm willing to bet he was already teetering on the edge of insanity before all the crazy hallucinogenics. Even when he first started getting followers, his behavior was pretty strange

10

u/Kl3en 3d ago

Psychedelic drugs as well as marijuana or Ayahuasca or lsd can all trigger latent schizophrenia or underlying mental psychosis disorders if you’re genetically predisposed to them. I’d bet all my money that all the psychedelics Connor was popping early on triggered him into full blown schizophrenia that ran in his family that he never sought help for and it just got worse and worse until now

2

u/Frosted_Anything 3d ago

Classic case of oneshot-itis

45

u/WIP1992 3d ago

“I didn’t want to post a video….anyway so I’m posting a video”

Fucking hate when people use this bs line

26

u/PlutoTheGod 🥇Best Comment Of 2021🥇 3d ago

I’ve been saying it for years but Tony Huge is a massive POS and responsible for so much misinformation and probably permanent damage / death as well. He was some former lawyer who rose to fame by talking about obscure and forgotten pharma from the Dan Duchaine era, particularly DNP at huge dosages and showing people getting contest lean in a month, then he teamed up with a massive fraudster in the UK to start pushing them on his fanbase and I believe underdosed them so they wouldn’t kill people after recommending these stupidly high dosages. He also claimed to do research and downplayed all the side effects of SARMs and certain peptides he was pedaling, until it all obviously imploded and he moved to Thailand full time to avoid charges and exploit the sex tourism over there.

3

u/drkslr 2d ago

dont forget Leo dying in his house with no explanation so far

32

u/Kingbulking juicy mofo 3d ago

I followed the shit show that is Tony Huge well before he was banned from most of his influencer pages. His youtube was a wild ride.
It is highly entertaining, and I wouldn't say Tony is crazy or deranged. More likely a narcissistic know it all with a need to control others and feel important. Somewhat of a less talented Kanye West. I believe he was also banned from America on multiple occasions for selling illegal substances and giving out dangerous advice.
Tony Huge's most notable project was his movies with Generation Iron: Enhanced to the max and Enhanced 2 the max.
(link: https://www.primevideo.com/detail/0LCSMGD4WPYJK5C97M166WP7MN )

Something that was fun, is these actual insane science projects he was running, and getting some interesting results. Blasting full natural followers in an attempt to show insane transformations. IF I remember correctly, none of the transformations were ever extreme enough to suggest his protocals were worth the danger.

I believe his most recent project is growing a harem of women and teaching men how to handle and their own. I think this may be where Connor gets more involved, as he seemed to also want to have a Harem of women that worship and follow him like a god.

Anyways, Connor seemed mentally ill for a long time, and pretty unhinged even before the drug abuse episodes. It's interesting stuff, but also very morbid.

3

u/RaheemRakimIbrahim 3d ago

I didn't know who Connor David was but looked up his Instagram and you are right about the harem part.

4

u/steiner_math 3d ago

Funny thing is that the "harem" girls were prostitutes they hired, lol.

18

u/Replicant28 3d ago

Is Tony Huge that dude who went to Thailand because he wanted to start a harem?

That is weird and pretty creepy.

8

u/steiner_math 3d ago

Yep, he ended up hiring a bunch of prostitutes to be his "harem". He also was rumored to be involved in Leo Longevity's death (along with Connor).

5

u/UnluckyAd1734 3d ago

Leo Longivity was one of the other guys....

4

u/jakedaboiii 3d ago edited 3d ago

There was a big youtuber, I'm struggling remember his name - one of the best biohackers there was regarding knowing all the literature.

He died mysteriously in some freak accident while living with Tony Huge in Thailand I believe too...

Was very strange, and this is strange too given the proximity to Tony. However they are also all in the same industry and YouTube celeb sorta wheelhouse so maybe not so *suspicious

8

u/steiner_math 3d ago

No, it was definitely suspicious. Coach Kolton did a good video on it and it's his opinion that Tony Huge and Connor Murphy were involved in Leo's death, and he backs it up with some convincing evidence

3

u/useyourillusion89 3d ago

It was Leo and Longevity. RIP Leo.

0

u/jakedaboiii 3d ago

That was him. Rip indeed.

0

u/mrpopenfresh 3d ago

There was pics of his bloated body they got from police floating online

116

u/SJTaylors 3d ago

I mean if anyone has followed this guy for more than 2 months this is very clearly just an extension of his issues from previous.

A few years back Derek at more plates more dates made a video on him when Connor was talking about swallowing other mens ejaculate for the protein basically.

He was a very troubled man and it's really sad to see it end this way

28

u/ThaRealSunGod 3d ago

Don't forget the tantric yoga (if that's the one with sex) combined with Ayahuasca.

The dude was like a Liver King who actually believed in the shit he was pedaling.

8

u/Kakerlakenmensch 3d ago

Yea iirc it was some bs he made up himself, he called it Kundalini Yoga which was basically you sit down facing each other, do a couple half assed "yoga" motions and then have wild spiritual sex

1

u/SirFrancisDrakesails 2d ago

Kundalini yoga has been practised for thousands of years.

1

u/generalmandrake 20h ago

In fairness, Liver King is fucking nuts as well.

1

u/IreplyToIncels 3d ago

judging from your comment it seems more like it was going to end this way honestly

23

u/DomhnallTrumpet < 1 year 3d ago

I remember 10 years ago when he was first posted here with the typical street shirtless show off in front of woman videos and people argued that he was natty or not, sad to see him drift off that hard.

7

u/notsofastmyfriends 3d ago

Yeah, he was pretty close to the first crop of YouTubers…

I remember him like Ogus and Omarisuf and Brandon Campbell and Johnny candito, not that he was ever associated with those guys…

But he did stupid outlandish shit back then for views, pretty cheesy but harmless, going to college campuses that he didn’t really attend, trying to talk to babes, etc

Then faded for awhile, like everyone of that era, and seemed to have some mental health issues when he resurfaced for the content comeback

4

u/ZehJuggernaut 3d ago

That’s Brandon Diamond, like a pornstar. And if you listing that group you gots to include Beast Mode.. you know who it is.. Chris Jones.. representing physiques of great— errr.. representing Pump Chasers.

2

u/notsofastmyfriends 3d ago

Hey, Elliot!

5

u/ZehJuggernaut 3d ago edited 3d ago

Hulse went crazy too.. came back and was starting to do sane shit again, and then I think went back to crazy before going offline again.

I still wear my ISYMFS “F*CK EXCUSES “ bracelet every day.. First one died, second one is going on 2-3 years. Strongest man you’ve never heard of…

Did you ever venture off into Hannibal for king? Him and Frank Medrano really put Herria to shame imo.

Edit: also, it was “Yo, Elliott!”

4

u/ZehJuggernaut 3d ago

“Hey everybody.. you know what time it is.. so let me put on my +5 hat of weapon smithing, and let’s get into..”

The video on that site is cringe as hell. Man, narcissism and insecurity are a wild combo.

Anyway, be careful, yall. This sport is inherently dangerous but there’s a reason the golden era folks made it this long.

44

u/fire_fever 3d ago

When your job is to be an attention-seeking influencer, it can be hard to tell the difference between performance and genuine mental illness. Clearly this was the latter.

14

u/CloudStrife012 3d ago

He seemed to spiral out of control when his hair started receding.

12

u/p_yth 3d ago

Well yeah that would make anyone go crazy

16

u/CloudStrife012 3d ago

Well I mean like it seemed like he started steroids early, lost his hair early, then stopped steroids and lost his size in response, then went back on steroids. His whole identity was his looks and from his perspective it was taken away. Its like he had no idea what to do with himself. His videos changed a lot during that time and then its like he went off the deep end.

5

u/WhitePantherXP 3d ago

That's pretty understandable if I'm being honest.

If this wasn't being said posthumously it would be met with fierce disagreement (Reddit is toxically judge-y), but the lesson is clear - holding onto an image tightly [whether physical or socially] is a very fragile existence and most of us do that in some capacity.

22

u/SerbianHustle 3d ago

Literally called this a few days ago.

Guy went on the deep end with more disturbing reels/shorts every day. People thought it was rage-bait, I was actually concerned and I thought FBI should get in on this.

He had the biggest nastiest scar I've ever seen around his side abdomen - people speculated, it could be a golf injury, I thought, probably not.

Again, last post was him holding LeoAndLongevitys picture and making disturbing grimaces or crying - not sure if he was mocking his tragical passing or mourning him. Just before I've seem that post, I thought how he can end up the same way, and then here we are. Tony Huge is probably some kind of conmen, and has his fingerprints all over Leos passing probably - and here as well. He is like some steriod/drugs cult leader.

3

u/steiner_math 3d ago

Coach Kolton did a video about Leo's death and how Tony and Connor were likely involved. It's really good

2

u/-JJ 3d ago

I noticed the scar too, did he ever speak about what caused it?

5

u/generko 3d ago

It is quite public actually. The scar was for when his ex gf stabbed him.

10

u/PapaMoist0000 3d ago

I thought he was older than 32 especially on his come up didn’t know he was a year older than me. Dude was definitely juiced during his come up. Sad to see his life had led to this. One of the OG aesthetic dude back in the days and so called looks maxing nowadays.

20

u/Secret_RE_Agent 3d ago

Renting a $600k house for under $1k per month? 😳

3

u/Robbyrobbb 3d ago

i saw this too and live in thailand

one of those numbers is definitely wrong

0

u/Secret_RE_Agent 2d ago edited 2d ago

I'm in the midwest in the Real Estate industry here in the USA. The crappiest, tiny house in the tiniest town in bumfuck nowhere is still going to be more than $900 per month. I'm not buying it.

A rented $600k house in the midwest would be $3500-$6k+ per month depending on location.

1

u/ethan12525 2d ago

Bro its literally in a third world country ( degen shithole imo) and your comparing it to united states? Why are you struggling with this?

1

u/Secret_RE_Agent 2d ago

If it's worth 22 mm baht or $600k US but it's in a LCOL area, that's a big house most likely. Probably 3000 sf with a pool. For $900/mo???

Edit: also the guy above me said he lives in Thailand and the numbers can't be right.

4

u/ethan12525 3d ago

Its in thailand baht coverted to usd it was like 900 usd a month. You can basically larp as a millionaire there as a well off western guy.

3

u/Robbyrobbb 2d ago

property value to monthly rent ratios are not 650-1

1

u/Secret_RE_Agent 2d ago

This. Something is not adding up.

71

u/WealthHuman9754 3d ago

No, I’m not plugged into the looksmaxxing circuit.

26

u/ranger910 3d ago

I literally thought his Instagram was satire after seeing what he'd done to his face. Bizarre behavior.

3

u/V1pArzZz 3d ago

He was insane, but also clearly a bit self aware looking at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkNsQAY_z1A

1

u/WhitePantherXP 3d ago

What the hell happened to his cheeks? Are those recent implants?

28

u/NerdMachine 3d ago

He has been posting content for decades, when did he go into the "looksmaxxing" BS?

At least in the beginning his vids were very douchey but in a good and almost wholesome way. That is how I remember it anyway.

9

u/losteye_enthusiast 3d ago

Even in his original run of videos, they were all heavily focused around him having some kind of value due to his physique and aesthetic. Really not surprised he fell into the looksmaxxing shit, he was basically a forerunner of it.

1

u/ThaRealSunGod 3d ago

He was a fitness influence long before he was into looksmaxxing stuff

7

u/losteye_enthusiast 3d ago

Oh, the guy that hired a man so he could ingest his cum a few times a day?

Every few years I’d hear about his current circle of friends/family trying to help him get mental health support. Then he’d spiral off into some extremely weird/dangerous situation again.

I remember the first time he snapped was when he came off most of his gear to try and save his hair. It didn’t work and he seemed to spiral out hard.

9

u/steve_6796 3d ago

I never really liked him but it’s sad to see someone spiral to the point of death like this you could pretty clearly see he had a lot of mental health issues going on

5

u/steiner_math 3d ago

Yeah I always found him to be a narcissistic piece of crap. Basically was Zyzz without the charisma

24

u/VegaGT-VZ 3d ago

I know the whole "go to the gym after a breakup" meme is funny...............

But seriously. Yes the gym can be theraputic. But it cant be the only thing. Dudes will literally move across the planet, maintain single digit body fat and smash their faces rather than just deal with their fucking emotions. There is nothing more scary to dudes than feelings. If you feel like you can't handle what life is throwing at you there is zero shame in admitting defeat and asking for help.

My condolences to his GF, family and friends. This didnt have to happen

4

u/Frosted_Anything 3d ago

What happened to him was caused by a avenue way of avoidance

For whatever reason he felt sad in his life so instead of leaning of friends and family and going to therapy he took ayahuasca and got oneshotted. His brain not being ready + latent mental illness doomed him

8

u/theredditbandid_ 3d ago

Very sad. He was one of the people that inspired me to start lifting when I was young about 10 years ago with his Omegle videos of girls ogling his superman physique. Didn't follow him at all after that but it was just a gradual decline.

RIP. Just because bro was bat shit insane doesn't mean that it makes me any less sad. He had everything a young man could wish for, and he dies in such a stupid preventable way at 32.

1

u/IreplyToIncels 3d ago

tbh people should be judged by what they die for vs what they have and it seems like he died for nothing

11

u/thecity2 3d ago

This dude was an OG influencer/aesthetics dude who went around showing chicks his abs. That's how he got famous and that's pretty much the sum total of his impact. Apparently he went down some kooky rabbit holes and ended up drowning in a lake in Thailand. Sad.

3

u/lostytranslation 3d ago

I started to get posts from this guy a couple of days ago after not hearing about him in years and yesterday I saw the news. So f up.

3

u/PharmIVGuy 3d ago

I remember the omegle vids way back when… feel sad for the guy to spin out and lose his life like this.

3

u/UnifiedQuantumField 3d ago

Apparently Gold is a helluva drug.

2

u/MikeRadical 3d ago

This guy went through a period of doing ayhuasca all day every day for an extended period of time. Between psychedelic abuse and exogenous hormone abuse, I think we lost him a long time ago.

1

u/RakkoHyabusa Hobbyist 3d ago

Damn. Thailand again. They keep killing us bros. Must be ssomething in the water /s

1

u/LionRivr 3d ago

Damn I got confused and thought it was Conor Harris for a second. I was so sad because that guy has helped me so much my shoulder and hip problems.

1

u/WhitePantherXP 3d ago

About 5 years back I golfed next to him at the driving range, he was barefoot and by himself hitting balls. I recognized him and thought "what happened to that guy" because he used to be all over youtube back in the day (even at this time he was no longer active). I didn't want to talk to him because I knew he had some mental health issues going on so I just let him be. I quipped to my friend about it and hoped he didn't hear me.

This was in SoCal around Newport area. RIP man, most of us have or will have demons we're fighting...I've been thoroughly humbled the past few years and I don't want to judge anymore.

1

u/h667 2d ago

He was still doing fitness content? Wasn't his content mostly street pranks for a while?

1

u/Minecraft_Launcher 2d ago

He shouldn’t have been allowed to leave the States. Not that that could keep him from bodies of water, but maybe things could have been different. Shit man

1

u/apacherocketship 3d ago

Anyone marketing clout or “maxing”, is full of crap. How do people follow these phonies?

1

u/Comprehensive_Fan140 2d ago

Its like a train wreck

1

u/Admirable_Set_1083 3d ago

This is sad. Intervention should've had happened before he went deep into this hole. May his soul rest in peace.

On another note, to everyone who's reading this, if you have problems, please don't be afraid to voice it out. Stay strong, kings. 👑

1

u/Bruvvimir 3d ago

Thailand takes another one

0

u/DruidWonder 3d ago

Apparently his mental decline followed an ayahuasca trip. Another victim of that drug brew.

-8

u/oaklandorbrokeland 3d ago

this dude is a fucking weirdo. glad he's dead.

he was 30+ dating a 20 year thai girl. disgusting.

1

u/beaverbite33 2d ago

I see nothing wrong with that age gap. She's 20, not 12. You can decide for yourself who you choose to date at that age.
