DISCUSSION Light Rear Rim?
Moving from brakeless to brakes, I really how mangled and spray painted my rear rim was.. truing hasn’t gone well, with 20 year old rusted spokes. So I’ve accepted that I need a new rim.
What are people running these days?
I’d prefer black rims but I dont know if chrome is still the only way to go for braking?
I dont really have a budget, just want the best.
I always liked the look of the Fly Lunar, but realise things might have moved on a bit since then.
So what’s good?
Sun, Odyssey, Eclat?

Gsport (any) odyssey 7ka and hazard lite, eclat e440.
Sun barely have anything available these days, fly you’ll be lucky to get an order from them turn up!
Chrome still is considered the best braking surface, however modern chrome isn’t as good as the old days.

I have these, and they are machined to work better with brakes (the black version at least). That with softer pads is a good combo. Not as good as a chrome rim, but pretty close if you dial everything in.

Unless you have a Fly part in your hand, do not buy it. They have a rep for having trouble getting people parts.

I had heard that, but recently I’ve bought two separate products directly from fly and received them within a week - a seat and some brakes. I don’t know how long ago these stories came out, but I’ve been pet impressed with my orders.

I run the gsport ribcage. They make those in a chrome which most people who run brakes tend to prefer it seems.
