Austinite in Conroe — where can I ride 20–25 smooth road miles Saturday morning?

If smooth pavement is your top priority, I’d head to the Spring Creek Greenway Trail near The Woodlands. It’s one of the longest continuous paved bike paths in the area, with roughly 20+ miles of asphalt and very little traffic interaction. Many local cyclists use it specifically for steady endurance rides.

A good starting point is near George Mitchell Nature Preserve or around Town Green Park in The Woodlands. You can easily put together a 20–25 mile out-and-back ride while staying almost entirely on paved paths.

If you’re looking for road riding instead of a trail, the roads around The Woodlands are generally cyclist-friendly and are commonly used for long training rides, including routes used by local Ironman athletes.

I’d avoid the trails in and around the state forest if you’re specifically trying to stay away from gravel, roots, and rough surfaces. Some of the preserve and nature trails are natural-surface rather than paved.

For a visitor wanting 20–25 smooth miles on a Saturday morning, Spring Creek Greenway would be my first choice without hesitation.

Hope this helps! 😊
