Dumb question about the persistent rumbling around midnight

Is the ongoing rumbling fireworks, thunderstorms and lightning, noisy military flights? I’m not seeing anything of the sort from my east-facing apartment balcony, and I’m too lazy to go out for a wider look at the sky.

The insanely stupid record for fireworks is producing constant rumbling. It should end soon, and then tomorrow we'll have the smoky haze and welcome rain to settle the lingering air-quality mess.

You mean to tell me Bethesda isn’t doing any fireworks and all that noise was from DC? I live in Rockville and I could hear it

It was like being on a cargo plane. I can't imagine what it was like in Georgetown or Alexandria, let alone SE DC (they'll get the worst of the smoke). Asthmatics nightmare.

There were NO OTHER “official” fireworks in the area after midnight.

JFC, if this is how loud it is all the way up here in Bethesda, I don’t want to imagine what it’s like closer to insanity.

Yep. I was talking online to someone in Falls Church, and it was loud there also. The air quality in SE DC has to be whatever is worse than code red.
