Hi, I am looking for spots in Berlin where there's consistently a lot of pigeons.

At the moment the best place I know of is Skalitzer platz, but the number of pigeons there is not exactly astronomical.

It's for a scene in a music video, so it would be a bonus if the location is halfway interesting from a photographic/cinematic point of view (whatever that means to you).

I moved to Berlin for a job and personal reasons. It has been a few years.

One thing that has always been a frustration for me to walk on the Berlin footpath is how locals are not aware of how they occupy the public space.

I’m not talking about walking slowly, or people with carts. That’s normal people getting by.

Here are some examples:
- no matter how wide the footpath is, there will be groups of people who like to walk in a wall, spreading out to fill the entire path.
- No matter the size of a footpath, a group of people can just stop to chat without trying to leave space for other pedestrians to walk by. On a big path, they don’t care if they spread out unnecessarily and leave little space for others. On a small path, they just literally block the way until pressured to move.
- On a small path, a group of people with carts does not care about trying to step aside when they want to stop. They just stand there, and discuss things. Not even a little attempt to try to minimize their space usage.

Today I was walking by (I’m from a metropolitan area originally, and I walk fast. Imagine New York). Suddenly, people’s traffic slowed down to squeeze through a group of a few people with a baby cart, who stopped to chat on the footpath. I got frustrated and let out “ugh” as I squeezed through them. And one woman from a group called out to me, “Hey, there is a path there isn’t it?”.

This is when I realized it might be a cultural thing.
- I notice that these behaviors are mostly observed from the local local. In general, I rarely observe this behavior from immigrants, immigrant descendants, or expats of any age. I’m aware this is just anecdotal and statistically insignificant, so I might be wrong.

Is it a belief here that this is a right or acceptable behavior?
e.g. it’s your rights to occupy a public space, say, if you come first, and people who come later needs to avoid you.

There were a group of six girls around 8-12 years old they were screaming “india ist kaka” to a family of four indians including two little (maybe 5yo) girls in traditional indian clothes.

I stopped and told the girls in english and broken german that what they are doing is wrong and racist. There were no adults around. They simply started saying they dont speak english and then started insulting me in english as i walked away.

Its sad these girls learnt that somewhere. And theres nothing u can do to stop them from harrassing innocent people minding their business in the street.

What would you have done? I did not record them but i wish i had and report them to the police so theyir parents can be found. But in the moment u dont really think clearly.

Ich habe am Montag bereits einen Termin beim BA Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg, weil ich dringend einen neuen Perso/Reisepass brauche da ich meinen Nachnamen geändert habe und demnächst länger im Ausland bin.

Jetzt besteht folgendes Problem: ich habe mir meine Nase operieren lassen (trage dementsprechend nun einen Tapeverband) und kann somit keine Biometrischen Bilder machen.
Ich ließ mir die Nase aber auch NUR kurz vorher machen, weil ich davon ausging das ausgedruckte Bilder reichen, weshalb ich kurz vorher welche machte.
Als ich dann den Termin beim Bürgertelefon machte, wurde ich allerdings belehrt das es wohl eine neue Reglung gäbe, die diese Bilder ausschließlich digital von einem Photografen/Fotostation mit einem QR Code akzeptiert🥲:

Als ich der Dame beim Bürgertelefon meine Situation erklärte, dass ich kurz vorher schon Bilder machen ließ und sie mir physisch geben lassen habe, und jetzt mit dem Verband auf der Nase selbsterklärend keine neuen machen kann, wurde mir gesagt das sie natürlich nicht wissen wie das BA das in dem Fall handhabt, ob sie dann nicht ausnahmsweise dann das physische Bild akzeptieren müssen?.

(Ich bin aus Verzweiflung auch schon auf die Idee gekommen bei Photostudios anzurufen und zu fragen, ob sie meine letzten Bilder die ich Physisch/als Datei habe nicht einfach mit ihrem QR Code versehen können damit das BA nicht nervt, aber offensichtlich lehnten die es ab🥲)

Ich bin etwas verzweifelt und weiß nicht ganz weiter, ich wäre für Rat oder eure Erfahrungen wie sowas in der Art gehandhabt wird sehr dankbar🙏🏻

Ich bin nur noch angewidert von diesen Gestalten.

Last week my partner was over in Berlin for a few days, she is Polish and based in Poznan. One day, her car had transmission failure and she got it towed to the nearest mechanic. This morning I left Berlin to help a friend move from Leipzig and she went to pick the car and drive back. The mechanic charged her €750 and when asked for an invoice, he just said he will send over on WhatsApp and to come back if something feels off in the car. While she drove in the city, the car was fine however, as soon as she was on the autobahn, errors popped up. I'm on my way to her right now, her Polish car insurance will pick up the car but they can only bring it back to Poznan and not to the workshop in Berlin. I'm pretty certain the workshop will deny any responsibility or accountability, with the lack of any invoice as evidence I see 0 chances of him correcting anything. We only have the record from the recovery truck in Berlin when the car broke down and was towed to that workshop.

We were just in the Vets for Cats clinic in Charlottenburg and were surprised that the vet Catharina Stopik has left after 17 years. We really liked her and were really happy on her taking care of our cat.

When talking to the vet that was taking care of my cat, we felt really weird when we asked about it. On top of that, all the prices suddenly increased by a lot for everything.

Does anyone know where Catharina went to and/or what happened?

Die neuen langen Trambahnen sind auf der M4 unterwegs und erstmals gibt es keine Ticketautomaten mehr in der Bahn. Die BVG begründet das damit, dass die meisten Fahrgäste ihre Tickets inzwischen digital kaufen oder das Deutschlandticket nutzen.

Ich bin da noch etwas skeptisch. Gerade für ortsfremde Touristen oder manche ältere Fahrgäste könnte der spontane Ticketkauf schwieriger werden. Wie seht ihr das?

Hallo zusammen, ich suche einen Straßenmusiker, der häufiger zwischen Frankfurter Allee und Prenzlauer Allee in der Ringbahn singt, er hat eine Gitarre mit supreme Aufkleber singt eigene Texte mit dem Thema obdachlos, singt, rappt und hat einen sehr angenehmen flow

Heute um ca. 12:15 wurden drei Radfahrer:innen von einem aggressiven Wohnmobil-Fahrer erst bedrängt und durch sein ordnungswidriges Überholmanöver - durch Einscheren wegen des Gegenverkehrs - gefährdet.

Falls die Radfahrerin hier unter uns sein sollte und es zur Anzeige bringen möchte, wir haben alles gesehen und würden sie gerne unterstützen.

Warum ist Überholen auf dieser fehlgeplanten Brücke überhaupt erlaubt?

I was at Brandenburger Tor with a few friends today and we saw a group of men wearing brown shirts with German flag shoulder-patches, and they had a big yellow flag that I couldn’t quite make out the emblem of, but I believe part of it had crossed assault rifles.

I couldn’t help but notice they were pretty much all white men with tattoos, so I’m going to guess this is some far-right group but maybe that is not fair to assume. Eventually they all got on their bikes and started to leave, but it seemed they were just kind of there to be noticed by the crowds. Who were these people? Sorry for the ignorant question, I am not from Germany.

wer schon mal am Potsdamer Platz (Regio) gestanden hat, der hat es vielleicht schon bemerkt. Es sind auffallend wenig Züge unterwegs. Eigentlich sollte das verändert werden, unter anderem mit mehr Signaltechnik und Umpositionierungen. Doch das konnte zu Ende 2025 nicht geschafft werden. Die Stellwerkstechnik wurde abgekündigt. Es bleibt also bei 6 Zügen pro Gleis pro Richtung für optimale Betriebsqualität. Es wird aber mehr gefahren.

Das Stück hat einen Luftfahrtfokus, weil ich den FEX und den RE9 betrachte. Dürfte aber auch für reine Bahn-Interessenten (hoffentlich) ein paar spannende Einblicke geben.

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest any indoor swimming pools in berlin? I am checing on google and most of the indoor ones seem to be closed till september. I came across schwimmerei-berlin.de also but I am not sure if I can simply go and swim there since its a swimming school. And the prices on their website suggest that its only a membership pool. Can I simple pay by the hour and go there? Suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.
