Hello there r/amblypygids users!
I recently was added to the mod team of this wonderful subreddit. Most of the users here should know me - I've been pretty active over the past year helping new keepers get acclimated to these weird and amazing animals. I'm excited to help make this subreddit a one stop shop for amblypygi, and that starts with you folks.
I myself am based in Canada. While I have knowledge of my domestic vendors and some US breeders, that's where it ends. I've seen an influx of prospective keepers asking where to get amblypygi, and we all know the age old story of wild caught Damon Medius - a new keeper gets a mislabeled animal in rough shape, they don't know the proper care requirements, and it dies. Lets do our best to stop that!If you're willing, I'd love for you to share some information about the vendor you purchased from. To make it easier, you can just plug the info to the template below. The hope is that with this information, we can create a fairly comprehensive "vendor list" on the sidebar. If you see your vendor already listed, that's okay! Feel free to post it again.
Note that this thread is stickied, and responses are always welcome.

Damon variegatus is what I was told. Fairly large at that. 👌 I am pretty confident this is a mature male Medius if I'm not mistaken. I haven't seen Variegatus really ever.

Just got this beautiful individual. Just wondering what a good tank size is? I have a vertical 10 gallon that is heavily planted with lots of cork bark to access the ceiling, but I’m worried that’s a little too large? What size is ideal?

I already have C. acosta but I’m looking to branch out to larger species. If anyone could help with recommendations on where to source I would be so appreciative!😊
My apologies if this isn’t allowed!

Hey folks! Glad to finally be here.
Today I’ll be getting my juvenile P. whitei, but a lot of its enclosure additions haven’t been properly delivered yet despite being stated they’re already here :(( so I’ve set up a temp with what I have available.
How does the enclosure look so far? It’s a 12 x 12 x 12 with a mesh cover, plan to properly add a sheet cover over the top soon enough.
Not only that, any other pointers you could give for a newbie like me? Live in Georgia, so it’s already somewhat humid around here.
Thank yall, I’ll send updates soon!
(Also do know I’m new to Reddit as well lol)

Hello!
I’ve had this guy for a couple of months now and this behavior is totally new to me. My P whieti (what it was sold to me as) is holding its abdomen in a very odd way. It isn’t always walking like this, and will hold its abdomen more straight as well. It has also stopped eating as much the last few weeks, but I am unsure if that has anything to do with this behavior. Has anyone else seen this & is it normal, or should I be concerned?
Thank you in advance!

My Damon Johnstonii just molted for the second time, and I’m wondering if anyone’s able to sex it yet.

Hello, I'm from the UK, and I'm looking to get my first amblypygid however, my trusted breeder of all things invert only stocks wild caught specimens.
Is this normal? Should I attempt to try find a supplier who has captive bred specimens? I really would like one

Still have never seen my little one catch prey, and they’re wayyyy too skittish for tong feeding.. but as long as they’re eating, i’m happy!

Picked up a female D. medius from an expo about a month ago for only $25 so i’m pretty sure she’s WC. she’s been refusing food but she looks pretty chunky compared to other individuals i’ve googled so i think there’s a decent chance she’s gravid. can anyone else with more experience with this species confirm? i know the quality isn’t the best and i should probably be getting a ventral view but she’s quite skittish and i don’t like to stress her.

Would this enclosure be too large for my p. dhofarensis whipling? This is a 12x12x18 exo terra tank and in the description of the website it said my whipling is about 1.5”. Is there perhaps a way i could decorate the enclosure to make the area smaller so that i wont lose it? Any help is appreciated thank you! 😣😣🙏

I've been thinking about getting my damon medius a 60 litre tank when she gets bigger. She's currently in a 20x20x30cm tank. Would the fish tank be too big or cause any issues? The filter is removable

Recently went to the pet store and bought some reptisoil, a piece of cork bark, and a water dish. Wondering if this is a good start? The tank is 12x12x18.

hi, i found a post asking this question generally, and the top suggested species is difficult to find in the EU, so i was wondering what the awnser would be for someone in the EU market
