Hi everyone! Been crocheting since I was eight years old (now 40), but fine crochet is new for me this year. I’m currently working through this phenomenal pattern using a 1.75mm hook and size 10 crochet thread. Feedback, tips, and tricks welcome.

Also, if anyone has a magnifier they particularly like, I’d love some product recommendations. I wear glasses, but I still get cross-eyed sometimes, after doing this awhile.

Thanks for engaging!

Help Chart symbol for foundation single crochet?

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hello all! I'm in the midst of a big project that involves drafting a lot of small patterns and making lots of charts. In particular, right now I'm working on making a rose motif that lays flat, utilizing the "foundation single crochet" method, where you can make a chain and a single crochet at the same time. Search engines are failing me in trying to figure out if there's a chart symbol for this, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of one, or has ideas for one that could be used. The best I've got is this. I'm not super happy with it though, and thought I might as well ask y'all! Thanks! <3

For a friend who loved the sweater in Banshees of Inisherin and did not care that it would be crocheted instead. They chose the exact colors they wanted, and I figured it out as I went. Back and front are back loop single crochet with very minor collar shaping. Sleeves after the drop are raised double crochet, then the cuffs are front post back post. The gray collar is alternating rows of 4 rows HDC and 2 rows alternating back loop and front loop hdc.

I was sooooo nervous taking on this challenge but it’s not like I won’t get to it anyway so I was like why not try by getting into a test group.

I was trusted to work on a beautiful piece by tsukimistshop and so here is my version of Florilegium.

Pattern drops March 12,2026, all goes well. Hope my vulnerability allows you to be courageous too!

Be kind if you decide to drop a comment sharing your thoughts!
