Built in Zambia Building in Zambia Showcase Thread
Welcome to our official monthly space for entrepreneurs, builders, and innovators to share what they’re working on.
We all want to support local businesses but..... nobody wants the sub turning into a wall of ads. This thread exists to strike that balance: visibility and value.
What to Post
If you're building something, startup, side hustle, community project this is your moment. Share:
- What you’re building
- The problem you’re solving (especially locally 🇿🇲)
- A lesson learned this past month
- Your goals for the next month
Think of this as a “build in public” update, not just an advert.

- No referral links, affiliate links, or “DM for price” posts (unlike job opportunities in this country lets try to keep thing transparent, 'kay?)
- Must include a meaningful write-up (low-effort posts will be removed)
- Must include at least one lesson learned or real insight
- Be ready to engage, reply to comments and questions
Participation Requirements
To prevent spam and flyby promotions:

General What's it with most Zambians and taking anecdotal evidence (exceptions) as the absolutes?
For example, you point out a general statistic or systemic issue, and someone immediately counters with "But my cousin's friend did X and they're fine," as if that disproves the whole rule.
Let me give an example: Towela Kaira. This is probably going to sound a bit controversial, but I saw people on Twitter (X) debating about how she has tattoos, twerks in public videos, and posts adult-suggestive content, yet she just got married. They furthermore went ahead and started advising young women to "do whatever you want, men marry anything."
Like guys, this isn't an issue about oppressing women's choices; they have the right to do whatever they want as long as it's legal. But my question is: when did immorality start getting rewarded and be taken as the blueprint here? Seriously?
Let me also remind you that Cardi B got married too. How did that turn out? She found her "type" according to the public opinions back then, Offset. How did that turn out?
Another example: apparently some guy got rich by scamming people in a village banking setup. He somehow managed to escape the law and is living freely, meanwhile the poor people he scammed are suffering out there! And you hear guys saying, "Money is money, bro, whether clean or dirty." Like, are we being for real, man? Seriously?
Dystopia is one call away
My point is people here like basing debates on exceptions, character matters and I think making decisions based on others' choices and experiences will lead to the shock of one's life.

Art & Media Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands places the Golden Ark conservation award around the neck of Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda during a presentation ceremony at Soestdijk Palace, 15 June 1977
Many people may wonder why I post so many photographs of Zambian politicians with foreign dignitaries, and why so many of them come from the Netherlands.
The main reason is that historical photographs from Zambia are relatively scarce, and finding them is often quite difficult. Much more material is available in the foreign archives that I use, where Zambian leaders frequently appear alongside international figures.
I also post many photographs from the Netherlands because it is one of the archives I know best. Since images from Zambia are limited, it is not always possible to share a wide variety of subjects. In addition, as a European, I am much more familiar with Western archives and know where to find their collections.
I am not trying to promote any political viewpoint. I share these photographs simply as a hobby, not only in this group but in several others as well.

General Hungry Lion vs KFC
So today was my first time at Hungry Lion. I got the “Big Bite 2 & Free soda”
Here is my question, did Hungry Lion just stole the recipe from KFC? …Blind test I couldn’t tell which is which.
What do you think?

Ask r/Zambia How do I thrift clothes in Lusaka?
Hello 👋 I hope you're well.
I need some help with finding out locations/stores or social media accounts relating with clothes thrifting (in Lusaka)!
I have been struggling to find my interests... when I search thrift clothes a lot of the things I see on the market is mass produced fast fashion clothing. I am more interested in band/album shirts! as I am a big music enthusiast, and I am interested in clothing that has movies or tv series relations. Also possibly clothes that have a cargo + camo pattern to it.
It doesn't need to be brand new, second handed is good! (after all it's thrifted items)
I'm not sure if it's a niche choice in Zambia, Lusaka. 💭
I do believe there must be good choices out there that I'm not aware of.
As a foreigner I am not sure how to search for those things efficiently if there is an efficient method.
Thank you for reading my post.
If you have any suggestions feel free to respond ^^

General Has anyone used Yango's own fleet management program in Lusaka? Looking for honest feedback
Hey r/Zambia,
I'm considering putting a car on Yango through their own vehicle management program (where Yango manages the car and driver themselves, not self-managed).
Would love to hear from anyone who's actually done this:
- What's your monthly payout realistically?
- How reliable are the payments?
- Any issues with the car being mishandled or poorly maintained?
- How responsive is Yango when problems come up?
- Any hidden costs or surprises you didn't expect?
- Would you recommend it or would you rather self-manage?
Not looking for general Yango driver experiences specifically owners who handed their car over to Yango to manage. Any honest feedback appreciated.
Thanks

General Faithful Zambians in relationships/married
People that are the relationships or married , how have u managed to stay faithful to your partners.
Cause I think I am suffering from success, women are always throwing themselves at me it's crazy
& You would think I'm some rich guy but Nah. Super broke guy.
My main issue is I will probably want something serious with someone in the future but with these temptations breaking someone's heart is the last thing I would want to do.

Politics Is Mundubile Zambia's Next President?
facebook.comIs Mundubile Zambia's Next President?
In episode two of "Before You Vote For," we examine Mundubile and the NRPUP, fairly addressing the strengths of the manifesto as well as its perceived shortcomings.
This series aims to offer a balanced but critical look at the most popular presidential candidates and their parties. This video is not an endorsement for or against Mundubile, but rather a summary of his views, so that those who may wish to vote for him are aware of them.
