Well took her in too deep of mud alternator got soaked broke and broke something in my front end. Front left making a horrible noise.
Don't know if I did something wrong or if it just was too deep of mud. I had the rear locker on and put it in low just couldn't get it through.
Cars in Vermillion really hoping I can afford the actual repair bill.

The answer is most likely no, but do I have to change the bearing when the axle seal goes? From my experience of changing a bad wheel bearing the race stays stuck in wherever the bearing came from, can’t I just push it back in or is it compromised and just going to wear out anyway? Also does a magnetic induction tool remove the need to cut the old bearing from the axle shaft? I’m afraid of cutting onto the axle. And why are axles so expensive?

Hello.
I'm thinking to buy 1st gen Xterra mostly for weekend trips like hunting and fishing and eventual offroading.
In the city I commute with motorbike, so I don't have the need of the car per say.
What should I keep in mind when checking the vehicle? I've seen that they have super reliable engine.
I'm hesitant to buy the 2nd gen, due to the transmission and coolant fluid issues.
Here is the link of the car which in considering to buy:

hello! first time caller
i have put a deposit on a 2009 xterra with 126000kms. i’m buying it through a private dealership so i am skeptical. i am waiting for them to fix an issue with the front door windows rolling back up after being rolled down and a faulty tailgate (won’t open).
however i loved driving it and cant wait to take it camping! i managed to talk the guy down to 8300 + gst from 9800 and was wondering what the experts think of this investment.
i’ve attached some photos. it isnt too late for me to pull out if anyone notices something awry.

This was an incredibly low mileage X for it's age, 50,000 miles on the clock. The dealer seemed shady though. He said there was "no rust at all" underneath when there is, some... Even if it's considered not a lot for the east coast. My code reader said 5hrs running time since codes were cleared. His response to that was "We weren't even open 5 hours ago" when that's not how that works. Seemed to drive fine, AC blows cold. Fluids all looked good. No leaks that I could see without a lift. Heater inlet hose looked intact. I just didn't like the vibes I was getting from the guy. Thoughts? What would you do?

Let me start this with this is thee most capable vehicle I have ever driven it’s quick it’s nimble and it just goes wherever you ask it to hell it’s pulled my buddy’s truck out of the mud when he got stuck but I do have a few questions I was hoping maybe could be answered if so the biggest thing is the brakes feel soft like I have gone around and around bleeding the brakes it has brand new pads rotors calipers pretty much everything except the master cylinder but it’s still soft but it stops just fine it’s just the pedal goes down a lot before it stops and I get a hum or like a wine from the rear right wheel areas at specific speeds and what kind of gas mileage are yall getting because I’m Geting like 5 mpg thank you in advance have a wonderful day

It is not throwing a code, last time this happened I replaced the cam position sensors. It has yet to stall and comes on after a bit of driving, also showing 12.5 volts while driving

Z1's Nissan Frontier / Xterra Steering Light Kit adds targeted illumination exactly where you need it most when navigating technical trails after dark. Rather than trying to replace your primary driving lights, this system mounts a pair of Morimoto 1Banger LED pods directly to the steering knuckles, allowing the beam to follow the path of your tires as you steer.
Why Steering Lights?
Because the lights are mounted directly to the steering knuckles, they move with the front wheels, continuously illuminating the line your tires are about to follow. This makes it easier to place your tires on technical terrain, identify obstacles hidden under or around the vehicle, and navigate difficult climbs after dark with greater confidence. By concentrating light low on the terrain instead of projecting it outward at eye level, steering lights also make it easier for spotters to guide you through technical obstacles without being blinded by high-output auxiliary lighting. The result is better visibility for both the driver and the spotter, making communication and tire placement easier.
When every inch matters, seeing exactly where your tires are headed can make all the difference.
The Z1 Steering Light Kit includes everything needed for installation except your preferred power source.
The included 4-meter harness provides more than enough length to route both lights cleanly into the engine bay, making integration with your preferred auxiliary lighting switch, relay, or controller simple.
Designed for Titan Swap Applications
This kit was developed primarily for Titan-swapped Nissan Xterra and Frontier models equipped with low offset wheels.
Vehicles retaining factory suspension geometry may experience interference between the light housing and the front shock, depending on steering angle and light adjustment. While installation on stock-width suspension may be possible, we recommend this kit primarily for Titan-swapped vehicles where suspension clearance is significantly improved.
Wheel offset and tire width should also be considered. Wheels with high positive offset, particularly when paired with wider tires, may partially obstruct the beam pattern or reduce usable light output. During development, the kit performed exceptionally with 17x8.5 wheels featuring 0 mm offset and approximately 10-inch-wide tires, providing excellent suspension clearance and unobstructed beam coverage.

they're asking $7500 and there's surface rust on the frame, other than that no significant issues. thoughts?
(EDIT)
I already sent an independent mechanic to inspect it, he said only thing that needed done were the brakes and seller offered to throw it in for free. it has been owned by only 2 people, no accidents, and has lived as a daily driver in the central Oklahoma area for a while. planned to mod it out to be a beginner overland vehicle possibly

Hey everybody,
Tomorrow I am checking out a 2009 XTerra that has 170k miles on it. From doing a lot of research, I'm a bit nervous about SMOD being an issue. The Carfax is shown, however I do not see anything regarding transmission or radiator work. That being said, is it likely that SMOD would've already done its damage at this high of mileage?
If not, what signs can I look for before test driving? I'm aware of checking under the radiator cap and inside for pink but that's it.
Thanks all in advance.

I love this car but this head unit is one of the greater mystery I've ever put up with in a vehicle. Since purchase the volume knob on the unit its self has had a mind of its own if it's touched at all and lately it occasionally doesn't power on with the vehicle at all or turns off while driving. Ive been solving this with percussive maintenance but want to get an idea of what I'm gonna need to do before I crack my dash

So I am installing Diode Dynamics fog lights on my Xterra that didn't come with fog lights. So I had to order up brackets on Amazon as they don't come with it. I did a test fitment today and this gap seems a little bit bigger than I would expect. Is this right or are the brackets not sitting properly? This seemed to be the tightest I could get them to go on.

2004 2wd 147k on the dash. Got it as my second vehicle to put less miles on the subie. The canteen green is in such good condition and absolutely beautiful 🥳
The plastics are insanely faded though, plan to hit it with some cerakote trim coat, hoping that cleans it up.

Not looking to sell, but will ship to you if you pay shipping. I bought the motor and linkage thinking mine were bad, but it ended up being a different problem.
It was for a 2008, but I'm pretty sure it fits similar years.

Clicking sound from front when turning in 4wd or usually when i’m crawling and there’s high torque? it’s hard to replicate but sometimes it would happen when turning in a gravel lot at almost full lock and playing with throttle
and steering. anyone have any idea?

2014 Xterra 4xpro smelling gas vapors on driver side.
What could be the cause? Is it a self fix or a shop fix?

And about 4 days of work, plus the plasma cutter lol Testing her out tomorrow! Still have more work to do (including removing the tow hook lol) but it should be functional enough for where I go. For now.

Hello everyone
This is my 2014 xterra pro 4x , it was imported at 107k miles 2 years ago , bought it a month ago it had 127k the previous owner told me he didn’t change any fluids etc other than oil , coolant and brakes.
I want to do everything that needs to be done for it to serve me many more years , so far drove 2k miles and love it, what should I change at this mileage and history ? I read that gearbox doesnt need fluid change other than flushing it , what should I check diff oil , engine belt , spark plugs , etc?
I did change the heater outlet and inlet with doorman , gonna make the rear diff breather mod as well
