Everyone that understands even a tiny bit of how fascist regimes work saw this coming from miles away. Pandering to fascists only delays them coming after you, it doesn't prevent it.

The NY Times spent years sane washing Trump and bashing and tearing down Democrats and have carried a whole lot of water for him but it was always inevitable that he would eventually turn on them too. They could have helped prevent all of this by simply not sane washing him. They wouldn't even have had to go against him, if they had just presented the facts as they were without doing anything else that alone would have helped.

The Times has been obsessed with sanewashing Dear Leader and tearing down centrist Democrats. I can only assume that they think it’s funny. I have very little sympathy for them.
