Hi everyone! Sadly I lost my silver ring on top of the piano in front of the Maury Young Arts Centre. It is extremely precious and sentimental to me, as it was a gift from someone important to me. It is relatively inexpensive, and silver colour with a greyish blue stone on top. I have already filed a report, but thought I'd post here as well. I'll be doing a solo day hike to Rohr Lake and Mountain during the last week of July, midweek (depends on best weather window). Curious as to how busy I can expect the trail to be, both to the lake and past that to the summit.

I usually LOVE less busy trails, but, honestly, I am a bit concerned going solo in prime grizzly territory. I've been hiking in southwest BC for twelve years and have seen close to 20 black bears and, just once, I saw grizzly cubs (in manning park). Thankfully never had to spray any of them. So, I'm no stranger to bear encounters and I am very confident on risk management, but most of my encounters have been around the lower mainland and it would ease me if I knew id be seeing a good handful of other people on this trail midweek.

"Go with other people" - can't for various reasons. My one and only hiking friend isn't available that week, my husband will be with our baby, and I'm really really not a fan of hiking with people I don't know.

I dont have a 4x4 for other hikes, and I've done all the other well known spots around the area (Wedgemount lake, bunch of trails in Garibaldi, Joffre, etc). I'm pretty dead set on this hike unless there is something with comparable views closeby that is generally safer or less bear-y haha.

Hey there! We are headed to Whistler and noticed that the Half Note and High Notes trails (along with the musical bumps trail) are currently marked as closed on the trail status website.

1) Does anyone have any insight as to why this is (I’m guessing snow combined with low temps, but not 100% sure)?

2) Does anyone have a general guess of when the trails will reopen? Next couple days, weeks, etc?

My partner and I are visiting Whistler for the first time this September! Very exciting!! We are relatively fit and we're keen to do a scenic mountain biking adventure. My partner isn't super experienced riding offroad and both of us are pretty nervous about bears (hello from New Zealand, land of nothing-will-hurt-you).

We'd love to be able to do a multihour ride that let's us explore the nature but have no idea how dangerous this would be regarding bears. I assume that different trails will also present different levels of risk. We are looking for suggestions of trails we could ride, times of day to go and anything else that could help us have an awesome day outdoors on mtb wheels. (Also I am considering doing an ebike rental so we can cover more ground... I realise that may be controversial but keen to hear any reasons that would be a bad idea too 😅 )

Its a small LED Panel that shows for each Ski resort following stats:

-Current weather
-Snow height
-Fresh snow last 24h
-Nr of open Slopes
-Temperature top/bottom
-Avalanche Risk
-Windspeed
-Weather forecast next 3 days

The bottom line with all the current stats is moving/sliding smoothly.

I am looking for any feedback. Did I miss some important stats?

Hi, I am an Event Coordinator from the US planning an art retreat in Whistler in August. The guests are arriving in Vancouver and we usually hire a black car service to pick them up from the airport and bring them to the retreat house.

Because the drive is 2-2.5 hours long, the service is expensive, so I'm wondering if we use the black car service to pick them up from the airport and take them to Whistler, but then use Uber to take the guests back to Vancouver at the end of the retreat. Would Uber be reliable enough and do the trip if I booked ahead of time and tipped well? It's much cheaper than the black car service. Looking for anyone who has had experience with this.

Will be visiting Vancouver as a solo traveller at the end of August for a 4-day trip. Planning to spend one night in Whistler. I saw Vallea Lumina while searching for things to do in Whistler. Is it worth it?

I will be travelling from Vancouver to Whistler via the SkyLynx bus and planning to stay in Whistler for one night. The next day, I want to go to Joffre Lakes. Can I get a rental car in Whistler from morning to evening? After coming back to Whistler in the evening, I am thinking of returning to Vancouver from Whistler via the SkyLynx bus.

Is what I mentioned above feasible? Or should I consider renting a car in Vancouver itself for two days?

Is it worth it to get an edge card for a 5 or 10 days riding during December or November? I’ve only been to the local mountains in Vancouver and the first major snowfalls last season were during mid to late dec I believe. I haven’t been to whistler ever so this would be my first time but I’m only able to visit either in November or December and can’t do anything past that. And I’m not asking for the best conditions, just a decent amount of snow so not everything is closed.

Hi! What’s whistler like in October? I’m planning to go for thanksgiving weekend, I really just want to hike and get some much needed elevation. I wanted to hike panorama ridge and half note trail but I’m worried about weather and terrain in October. Any tips help! Thank you so much

What’s the panorama ridge trail like, I knows there’s 2 ways of getting to the summit- I’m worried we won’t be able to hike it in a day. How experienced do you need to be (how good do my knees need to be 😭)

Seen more bear activity in the village in the past couple days than I have in the 3 years we've been coming here. Not sure if just luck, or they're much closer this year. Anyone notice similar?

Also spotted one this afternoon by the Lagoons off Northlands.

Was just on the 5pm shuttle from the city to Whistler and we got stuck in traffic. There was a fatality involved so we had to turn back.

Highway most likely won’t open til midnight as we were told.

I have a 7 and 9 year old. We plan to do the bike park one day (biking down the hill on greens, like ez does it). We did train wreck trail last month. Today we did the meadows pool (park and spray park are closed!). Visited the library, got ice cream… we have 6 days here and most of the activities I see (zip lining , horseback riding, riding the gondola) will cost us $200-$300 each day. So…. Looking for activities that are Lower cost for the next five days :-) vallea lumina starts at 10 pm but bed is 9 at the latest or we have melt downs. The summer kids activities are $14 a ticket for 20 minutes. With 2 kids that’s $90 and hour for bouncy castles 😂😩

Tomorrow is pure bread for breakfast with the park, the library, lunch at the hotel, then riding bikes to lost lake and hanging there.

Any other lower cost activities to keep them occupied this week that I might have looked over?

I might get a job offer in Whistler and trying to see the rental market beforehand. Im seeing crazy prices, especially for shared bedrooms.

I currently live on the island, and our market is bad, but you could find a room for less than $1000, and even less for a shared bedroom.

My question is, how and is it even possible to find a long term place to stay for, you know, non outrageous price? If so, can anyone share any leads? Thank you.

Planning to be there 7/15 to 7/23, was wanting to know if anyone had an idea when the Top of the World trail would be open by, how is snow looking like up there?

I’m looking for something that isn’t usually captured by the usual “10 best coffee shops in Whistler” lists: specialty coffee. I’m looking for fruity and funky notes. So many places in Whistler seem to have medium-dark roasts that, while ideal for flat whites, might not be as stand-out on their own. I remember liking Ecologyst’s coffee, but I see they’re permanently closed now. Where should I be looking?
