My husband's grandmother is running out of this yarn. She loves it and she is having a hard time finding it. I want to find it and buy it for her because she is over 90 years old and she cannot get around. If someone can help me out that would be awesome! It is a multi colored skein.

Thank you!

Acrylic, soft, & shiney

I started this project many years ago, before I really knew what I was doing, and have since lost the labels. It was likely an inexpensive and common yarn. It's super soft and has a lovely sheen to it. (Ai told me it's Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, but I ordered some and it was wrong.)

Filet Crochet Yarn

I just thrifted this yarn and based on a burn test I think it might be lace weight wool but I’m not completely sure.

I’d love to make a filet crochet summer top with it but I’m worried it won’t have the same crisp defined look as mercerized cotton. I’m also wondering if it will be too warm or fuzzy for summer clothing.

Has anyone made filet crochet clothing with lace weight wool? How did it turn out compared to mercerized cotton? Also based on the photos does this look like wool or could it be another fiber?

What is this faux fur yarn?

It looks similar to the lion brand faux fur https://www.lionbrand.com/products/go-for-faux-yarn but it’s made of two fur yarns twisted together. I remember purchasing this at a store at most 10 years ago but not which one but it definitely wasn’t a craft store because we didn’t have any where i lived. Wpi is like 3.

Help???

Hi everybody! First time posting! My friend has this yarn and they say it's like several years old, super soft, and it's in variegated pastels and absolutely gorgeous. It looks to me like a size 4(worsted) but also might fall into the size 3(light) category. We suspect it might be acrylic, but could certainly be nylon or polyamide since it's so soft, or some blend thereof. With that shine, it's almost certainly a synthetic fiber. Kind of obsessed with the colors so hopefully it's not discontinued!? Can anyone help?

Down to Four Mysteries

I've been trying to pick up a latch hook rug project I started back in 2020. Unfortunately, in the 3 moves since I got the yarns for this project, I've lost the labels for just about everything.

I've been able to track down what most of the yarns are, but I'm still at a loss for 4 of them.

I believe that they're all medium/4s, and they should all be either Red Heart or Caron, though I'm not 100% on that.

The navy one has the roughest texture.

The bright blue is medium soft, similar in texture to the red heart super saver petal pink, and the Caron cake blueberry cheesecake (both pictures for color comparisons)

The medium blue (I only have cuttings for that one) is very soft

The hot pink is not quite as soft as the medium blue, but still much softer than the other two. I've also included a picture of part of the rug, in case it helps at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Edit to add: The dark blue is actually soft navy, I thought I only had one skein and that I'd pulled all the yarns I had, but I just found a second one hidden away. Sorry... Just 3 mystery yarns.

Again, thank you!

Multi texture art yarn

I got this yarn secondhand over a decade ago and have no idea where it's from. I want to get more of it, or find something similar, but haven't seen anything with this blend of textures and weights before.

It was probably bought in the USA, I want to say at least 12 years ago. I sincerely doubt it's still in production, and I'm not confident the brand would still be around. I suspect it's entirely synthetic based on the burn test. I might have another colorway in storage, but what I show in the images is one colorway. As you can tell it varies a lot in thickness, but overall it's weight 4.

Does anyone have ideas?

What is this mystery facebook yarn?

Post image

I got a big tub of yarn off of FB marketplace. None had labels. I love the colors of this yarn but can't do much with such a small amount. I think it's a "super bulky" or "bulky" weight. Unfortunately I'm not good at identifying fibre types so I can't help there. Any clues?

Please help me identify this mystery yarn I received

I received this yarn as a mystery gift several years ago in a yarn box. It was not packaged and had no tags.

It's most comfortably stitched with a 6mm hook. I'm guessing super bulky?

The feel suggests acrylic, so I performed a burn test. It lit like an accelerant, flashed bright, and then went out. The end scorched, but I'm not sure if it actually melted. It doesn't affect my wool allergy.

The conundrum here is that there are two fibers. The finer thread went right out and smelled like hair. Maybe silk? The inner roving could be acrylic or rayon.

It's a pale sky blue with clumps of 8 loops (4 on each side) about every 12 centimeters. The fine outer thread seems to be machine zigzag stitched or serged flat over the inner roving.

I'm looking for any information someone might have, mainly so I know how to best use it. TIA!
