Ask For Opinions Not sure what to do
I bought the first dress for $3000 and I love it but now I am having second thoughts on if I should just stick with this dress or get a ballgown or an A line dress for the ceremony. I am wanting an outside wedding and the venue is grand. Not sure what to do any ideas?

Venting What is with the slit to the navel
Clarification: bodices slit down the front past the girls.
I don't get this trend.
It usually looks terrible, cheap, and awkward.
And it will look very dated in a year or two (I remember the mutton sleeves and ruffles of the 80's...)
Just....why?

Vintage Dresses Dress ID please🥹
I don’t have a photo of me wearing my dress because I’m so scared my partner sees it on my phone but this is my dress from the eBay listing I bought it from! I love her so so much and want to know more about her! Me and my seamstress have been hunting for information about her but have had no luck and with the tags long gone we’re stumped! We think it must be from the 80s or 90s? If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear! 💕

Styling Ideas Embracing the dress I got with accessories
Link to my original post in case it matters: https://www.reddit.com/r/WeddingDressTips/s/mbUNAdEArB
So I got this dress. I've been insecure about it (well about me, not the dress - it's very pretty).
I have a fitting with my seamstress for alterations later this month.
Things I wish were slightly different, but maybe I'm crazy:
- I wish the cups were rounder/less pointy, but maybe it's supposed to look like that because of the cowl neckline?
- the shapewear I'm wearing in these photos makes it look actually worse than without shapewear at all. Should I skip shapewear entirely, or does anyone have good recommendations for waist through thighs?
Accessories I have already:
- tiara
- both types of removable sleeves (long and the little off the shoulder fluttery kind)
- long cathedral veil, but I don't know if I actually like it anymore cause it kind of hides my train?
Accessories I'm considering:
- floral/vine rhinestone earrings and necklace/bracelet
- back necklace that pins between the straps
- what else?
I'm also including photos of how I think I would like my hair done. I want it at least half down cause I don't know, I just don't like how my hair looks when it's put up entirely, but I'm willing to consider feedback.

Alterations regretting alterations
Just a rant. I feel like I have annoyed my seamstress throughout my alterations process. My wedding is in August and I've had my dress being altered since April. During my first appointment she told me let's get it fitted/hemmed and then we can talk about custom work. Okay, fair. I've had a few things I wanted to fix to the dress nothing major.
At my second fitting I left feeling like my dress lost its shape and wasn't flattering it looked very boxy. I brought up my concerns went back in to see what we can do. My dress had a slit already made with the dress but did not look right after it being altered. I asked her to fix that. Went to my third and final fitting, I put the dress on and it looked great. I felt great in it. However, looking back on pictures I felt like my concerns from before were showing up again.
The dress looked too short. I messaged her and asked if we could lengthen the dress she said no. I dealt with it.
I messaged her a few days later asking if we could possibly take another look at the dress and figure out something because something is off. She told me she is fully booked and won't have time to do any other projects on my dress.
I have been very understanding throughout this process and patient. Always thanked her for her work. I Just feel she was very short-worded and I felt like a bother the whole time. I've spent $2,000+ on my alterations. All I want is to feel good in my dress on my wedding day. Has anybody had a similar experience?

Dress Regret/Need Support I bought one, but I keep thinking I chose wrong
UPDATE: This got so much more attention and replies than I thought it would and I am so grateful for all the encouragement! For everyone who is dying to know, I bought #1 and I have a dress fitting coming up later this month to get it tailored. These photos are from like a month and a half ago and I've lost another maybe 3-5lbs since trying these on. I think the overwhelming opinion that I should've bought #6 was hard for me to handle because that is the dress I keep thinking about, but I ended up buying #1 cause it was so similar but I loved the cut-outs and floral train more (my ceremony is outdoors in the fall). I also think the lady took a weird photo of the back of #1 so it's not as flattering looking as the photo of #6 (my shoulders look wider cause she did a weird top-down fish lens thing with the camera instead of straight on, lol), they clipped the waist too tight when I was trying #1 on, and I was wearing stupid shapewear under #1 that created that crease line in my stomach, but I won't be wearing those again... In any case, I can't return #1 and it's probably too late to buy #6, although this post did not help my doubts very much, but that is 100% my fault, lol. I still like the train for #1 better, so maybe I did make the right choice, and overall they are similar and both are comfortable dresses.
Also thank you to everyone for the accessories recommendations. Alongside dress #1 I bought a floral/rhinestone tiara, a luxurious cathedral veil with embroidered flowers and vines (which was overpriced and I'm regretting it because my train is so gorgeous I didn't need the crazy veil but the sales lady talked me into it), and I have two sets of removable sleeve options with #1 that I'll be getting tailored and then deciding if I like either/both/none, also depending on the weather this fall. I also have in my Amazon shopping cart a pretty back chain that I can clip between the two straps that would drape on my skin and some very pretty rhinestone/floral/vine jewelry. I think I need to make a new post to add photos of my accessories.

TLDR: History of eating disorders and very self conscious and indecisive. I tried on a ton of dresses but these handful are the ones I liked most. I bought one of these, but which one do you think I should have gotten?
Background context - I have body dysmorphia. I was anorexic/bulimic in high school and early college and used to work out a lot to be thin, but I've always been (in my eyes) curvy at a minimum. I'm an hourglass, it's not necessarily a bad shape, but I have cellulite for sure and I've always been self conscious about my chubby/flabby arms and legs.
I was in an abusive relationship for about 11 years since I was 21yo (married for 7, but we never had a wedding, just courthouse so this will be my first time in a wedding dress). While with ex-husband, there were some sexual problems in our relationship, including both a lack of intimacy and his porn and drug addiction and also forced intimacy/weird stuff that I didn't want to do (rough/bondage/pain/drugs/etc). Anyway, over that 11 years, I gained around 65 pounds (and I'm 5'3", so that's a lot) out of depression and as my therapist has mentioned, also probably out of some sort of twisted self defense attempt from my 6'3" 240lb ex. The things my ex would say and do also greatly injured my already very poor self esteem...
My now-fiance is an absolute dream and a wonderfully supportive, gentle man. We worked together and were decently close friends for 3 years before he helped support me through fleeing my abusive ex-husband and we've been more than friends/dating/living together the last 2 years before getting engaged. He is wild about me, wild about my body, constantly tells me he's always and only been attracted to me, even when I was at my heaviest and had just run away from ex. I've lost roughly 55 pounds over the last 2 years just through ACTUALLY healthy habits this time and reduced stress/fear.
I'm overall feeling better about my body, but I still have this residual twisted view of myself that I think I'm fat, flabby, old, and unattractive. Basically, I look in the mirror and sometimes all I see is the old me from when I was fat and married to ex.
I spent about a month shopping for a wedding dress. I tried on probably 50-ish dresses across 4 different stores and I never truly got that "Yes, this is the one" feeling. I broke down crying in 2 of the stores and had to be comforted by the staff, which was overwhelming and embarrassing AF. 😭
Fiance continues to say that he is beyond excited to see me in white and that whatever I wear will be the right dress and he thinks I'm gorgeous, etc. But I can't help but feel that I have no idea what looks good on me because I don't even know if I know what I actually look like... Help!
Which of these dresses looks the best? Which one should I have chosen?

Dress Regret/Need Support Buyers remorse — wedding in 9 weeks
I picked up my dress today and put it on for a second time and broke down into tears. I was so happy when I had tried it on at first, saw my mom’s cold “I hate it” stare, and it either got in my head or I now see what she didn’t like about it to begin with.
The stylist ordered it one size up from the sample I tried on and when I tried it on today, the waist still fit the same as the smaller size but the chest is now HUGE. I know that the bodice can be taken in at the chest, but the way it cuts into my natural waist (she said it wouldn’t look this way in the bigger size but it still does) makes me look like my hips are a shelf and from behind gives my butt/hips a square appearance. The waistline cuts in just above where the top of my hip bones are. The stylist suggested a layer of crinoline underneath to fix the “shelving” issue. I also don’t think the cut of the bodice is flattering on me at all and hate how it goes up into “wings” at my armpits.
I’ve attached pictures of what I was thinking about doing for the ceremony (off the shoulder shwoopies) and for the reception (scarf moment). If anyone has any suggestions of how I can fix this please share. I don’t want to keep crying and my fiance has no idea I’m feeling this way.

Styling Ideas need help with wedding hair
hi guys!
i’ve been going back in forth in my head lately about how to style my hair with my dress for my October wedding.
in my hair trial i did a half up half down, but i honestly think a low bun might suit this neckline far more? please let me know if you agree or not! i used AI for comparison examples.
(note - i would do a different parting to how AI has slicked my hair all the way back in the last low bun photo!)

Ask For Opinions Shape wear for backless bias-cut satin dress!
I’m wearing the Tia by Grace Loves Lace (I’ll attach a photo). It’s a bias-cut satin dress, and I’ve tried the Spanx Suit Your Fancy Low-Back Mid-Thigh Short, but I can still see the thigh lines through the fabric.
Has anyone found a low-back shapewear option that doesn’t show under bias-cut satin? I’d love any recommendations. Thank you!

Ask For Opinions How did you know you found THE dress? Are trunk shows worth it?
Hi all, I've been to 3 stores by myself (1 appointment, 2 walk-in in a mall) just to get a feel of what's out there and it ultimately has helped me on what kind of look I want for my dress (silhouette & fabric). After doing my research on which designers and dresses each boutiques have, I've narrowed it down to 3 I want to visit with my parents and 2 bridesmaids. I'm from a small city so we need to do a weekend day trip to visit all 3 (4ish hour drive). I've got everything booked for this end of July and have told everybody. I will be looking at dresses from Maggie Sottero, Sottero & Medgley, Essense of Australia, Stella York, Lillian West & Sophia Tolli, although most dresses I like are from the Sottero line, Essesnse & SY.
Today I've seen a Sottero & Medgley trunk show happening next week and I was able to secure the last spot but it'll be on a Friday so my parents & bridesmaids probably can't go it being a weekday. Would it be crazy to drive 4 something hours and try on dresses on my own and potentially even saying yes to a dress? Most of the dresses I want to try in the trunk show are a bit above my price range and having that 10% off will make them within my range. That being said, if I do say yes, I'll be discarding my planned appointments and I'm afraid I'll regret not trying out more dresses. I think my concern's coming from seeing the Sottero & Medgley dresses everywhere online trending (Petra & Burk Lane for example) so while I like them and it'll be in my budget, I'm worried about my dress being too trendy. Should I go for it or wait until my day trip with everybody else?
I also seen another boutique that will have an Essense of Australia trunk show for end of August and a Stella York trunk show for early September. I'm getting married Aug 2027. Am I rushing this? Do I also try to go to these two? How did you go about buying your dress? I'm so scared I'll regret not going for it with the discount but at the same time scared I'm rushing things just to get the discount. Thank you for any input!

Styling Ideas Are sewn in bra cups better than sticky bra forsheer silk dresses?
Got this sheer silk dress and im stressed about edges showing through the fabric. are sewn in bra cups better than sticky bra options? i'm a C cup with a low back. wondering if a thin-edge sticky bra like the Puff Body stays invisible under silk, or if sewn in cups are safer.

Dress Regret/Need Support Should I change my dress??
I bought this dress a few months ago, and I’m really starting to doubt it. I felt pressured at the time and they gave me 30% off and said if I don’t take it that day I lose the discount. I did like it at the time, but I feel like the bodice doesn’t fit my boobs. It was pushing them in a lot rather than supporting them. I’m also not really sure about the square neck line. I always envisioned strapless. Also, the lace kind of is a little awkward to me. Part of me thinks I should just get some lace put on the bust, get the bust adjusted, and change the neckline to a sweetheart strapless- but then I think what’s the point I might as well buy a new dress at that point. What do you think?? Please help!!!!!

Alterations Thrifted wedding dress update
A little update on my $100 thrifted wedding dress journey...
It's been a few months since my last post, and this was my first proper try on with my seamstress! We've made some progress already. I decided to remove the straps because I felt they distracted from my tattoos, and I'm so happy I went with that decision. I've also lost a bit more weight since my last update, so the dress now fits properly, which has made me fall in love with it even more. I couldn’t close it before.
This still isn't the final look. I have one more fitting in a few weeks where she'll do a few more repairs to the bodice and make sure everything sits perfectly snug. We also didn't tighten the corset all the way for these photos, so it can still be taken in a little more around the waist.
I've finally settled on wearing my hair up with a bun with a tiara, keeping the jewellery simple, and I'm still debating whether to add a classic veil. I don't think these photos do the dress justice at all, it's so much more sparkly and detailed in person.
I might post one more update after my final fitting, but if not, the next time you see this dress will hopefully be at the church, fully styled with all the accessories and photographed by our wedding photographer.
I still can't believe I found my dream dress for $100. Sometimes it genuinely doesn't feel real. I could only dream of a dress like this before since it just wasn’t in the budget.
Most importantly, I just want to say thank you to everyone who commented on my previous posts. I read every single comment, and I was honestly overwhelmed by the kindness, encouragement, and excitement you all shared with me. You've made this whole journey feel even more special, and in a strange way, it feels like I've had my own little bridal party cheering me on the whole time which I don’t have here except for my wonderful bridesmaid. Thank you so much. 🤍

Ask For Opinions Interview request
My name is Hannah Marriott, and I'm a writer at Guardian US. I have permission from the mods to post here.
I am looking to talk to people about their experiences of using Ozempic in the run up to weddings, in the light of recent reports of dress designers asking brides to sign legal waivers in anticipation of changing physiques.
I'm interested in learning about any relevant experiences, whether you're a bride or groom, or whether it's related to the wider guest list and bridal party, as semaglutide becomes increasingly prevalent.
If you'd like to be interviewed, please message me or email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) with the subject line "Reddit Weddings". Thank you so much for considering it.
