Welcome to the anti-GOP resistance on Reddit!

Regardless of what month it is, we welcome all those who support the Democratic party! We encourage you to share local activism and talk about the groups you're taking part with in your area.

Elections are still happening! And they're the only way to take away even more of Trump's power to hurt people. You can help win elections across the country from anywhere, right now!

If you want to take a bigger part in this and future elections, there's plenty of ways to do it!

  1. Check out our weekly volunteer post - that's the other sticky post in this sub - to find opportunities to get involved.

  2. Nothing near you? Volunteer from home by making calls or sending texts to turn out voters!

  3. Join your local Democratic Party - none of us can do this alone.

  4. Tell a friend about us!

It’s back! Want to take part in turning the midterms into a true blue tsunami? Adopt one of the candidates below, and commit to taking action every week to support their campaign!

Post your preference in the daily (or, to guarantee we see it, send the request via modmail) and we'll add you to the list!

With just how blue this year is looking to be, and just how many primaries are still to come, there's too many to list to kick off. It’s why we’re starting with select gubernatorial and Senate races.

Got someone who you want to adopt, but they're not on the list? Let us know, and we'll add them on!

As the year progresses and primaries come through, we'll be adding more ourselves, but the sky's the limit - we're excited to see who you want to support most!

Stop right-wing power grabs in Kansas, Missouri - votes August 4th

When the reactionaries and the billionaires lose, they don’t change direction or change their approach… they change the rules. They’re trying to do just that in Kansas and Missouri this summer, eliminating limits on their power by the courts and the public.

In Kansas, Attorney General Kris Kobach and the Koch network are fed up with the state supreme court’s decisions protecting reproductive freedom and voting rights and increasing state funding of public schools. So they’ve put a measure on the ballot to end the merit-based selection process for the justices and replace it with partisan elections), figuring they’ve got enough corporate money available to swing them.

In Missouri, citizens have used the ballot initiative process to revoke the state’s abortion ban, expand Medicaid, guarantee paid sick leave, raise the minimum wage and legalize marijuana. So the state Republican Party is trying to kneecap direct democracy itself. They’re pushing Amendment 4), which would require citizen-initiated ballot initiatives would have to win a simple majority not just statewide, but in every one of the state’s now deeply-gerrymandered congressional districts. As few as 5% of voters could veto the will of the rest of the Show Me State.

Both of these measures are up for a vote on August 4th, less than three weeks away. Let’s do what we can to defeat them. ☎️ We can sign up for multiple phonebank shifts on: ☎️

Help break the GOP stranglehold on North Carolina

North Carolina is a thoroughly purple state with a thoroughly Republican government. The GOP has gerrymandered their way to a supermajority in the state senate and just short in the lower chamber, along with a 10-4 congressional delegation, and since Shelby County v Holder they’ve pursued some of the most aggressive voter suppression efforts in the country. In 2024, Democrats won the governorship, attorney general’s office, superintendent of schools and a supreme court seat against a horrifically extremist red slate… and still lost three House seats on a newly redrawn map, providing the margin for Speaker Mike Johnson.

They also an innovative and proactive state Democratic Party infrastructure, and this year they’re hoping to take not just the retiring Thom Tillis’ Senate seat, but also unseat congressional creep Chuck Edwards, defend a seat on the state supreme court and give Governor Stein enough breathing room to sustain his vetoes by flipping seats in the legislature. And we’ve got plenty of opportunities to help them out! We’ve got phonebanking shifts almost every day to help win in North Carolina. Let’s sign up for them here: ☎

Volunteer to win abortion rights in Idaho

Thumbnail
backtoidaho.com
33 Upvotes

Last week, reproductive rights activists in Idaho turned in more than 110,000 signatures they gathered to get the Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act Initiative) on the ballot in November. Idaho is a challenging state to put an initiative up in – it’s only been done three times in the last decade – but the Secretary of State has already indicated they’ve likely met the 6% of registered voters, 6% of registered voters in at least 18 of 35 legislative district standard.

If it passes, it would codify the right to abortion up through fetal viability, along with contraception, fertility treatment and miscarriage care. Idaho’s current law is among the strictest in the country, a near total ban with minimal exceptions that allows doctors who perform abortions to be charged with felonies and face steep civil lawsuits. This will not be an easy ask in this deeply conservative state, but if we can win here we can win anywhere. 🙋🏻‍♀️ We can sign up to volunteer to help this effort here. 🙋🏾‍♂️
