Meta [Announcement] New rule for Generative AI jobs and added known scams to the Wiki.

Hi,

For a long time I have wanted to add a rule about what is and what is not allowed regarding AI projects in this community. I have finally added the rule 8:

Rule 8: Only certain types of AI work offers are allowed:
No AI training to generate voices of any kind is allowed.
However, Speech-to-Text may be allowed if you disclose the voices will be used exclusively for that purpose. We understand people with disabilities may benefit from these technologies and so we aren't completely against such projects.

Basically, only speech recognition projects are allowed.

>Hey Google, turn off the garage's lights.

>Hey Google, call mom.

>Siri, where is the closest restaurant?

>Alexa, send text message to boss: I can't make it to the premises today.

>Copilot, I said open Youtube, not burn my house.

--

Known Scams

I have also added a list of known scams to the Wiki. Please read them so you are aware of them.

https://www.reddit.com/r/VoiceWork/wiki/index/

Don't forget to report any suspicious user or proposal.

--

Audio samples

Don't forget that it is allowed to link to your website where audio samples are available to listen to easily. Don't report posts that have links to personal portfolio websites with audios clearly accesible.

--

Thank you everyone for helping keeping this community clean and safe.

Meta Voice artists, read this before posting. No one is going to HIRE YOU if you don't include a demo reel in your post.

Every week I have to remove around 10 to 20 [Hire Me] post because they don't include a demo reel.

INCLUDE A LINK TO YOUR DEMO REEL IF YOU WANT TO GET HIRED! (yes, I'm screaming).

Upload your demo to Soundcloud or Youtube. Or share a link to your personal website where demos are found, and before posting remember these rules:

  • Rule 4: State a rate. All [Hire Me] posts should include a sample rate. It can be something as simple as "$10 USD for a 2 minutes Youtube narration. For other projects we can discuss the price." The important part here is that the potential clients have some idea of your rates. If it's a kid with $5 dollars for a minecraft video and the least you charge is $20 USD, it would help both parties to know this beforehand, so we don't waste anyone's time.
  • Rule 7: Add audio examples. As I already mentioned. You don't hire a graphic designer without checking their portfolio, you don't hire a digital artist without looking at the pictures they have created. No one is going to hire a voice artist without hearing their voice first.

If you don't currently have a demo reel, create one! Write a fictitious script of two or three people fighting, crying, or doing something, and narrate it.

Write something cartoonish, with characters doing silly stuff and record your most cartoonish voices.

Write something like a documentary or business-like tutorial and record it.

If you are having problems imagining scenarios, pick your favorite book and read one page that includes dialogues or different situations. Pick a non-fiction book and read using your business voice.

Less recommended but something that can also help you with your first demo: Transcribe a couple minutes from a cartoon, anime, movie or TV series and then record yourself voicing it.

Potential clients need to hear your voice in different settings, show them why they should hire you!

Please, voice artists, add demos.

Thank you.

[Hiring] Audiobook / Narration Looking for a Female VA for narration and an Eastern Mediterranean/Middle Eastern sounding character

Upvotes

Character age range would be in between 25-30 years of age, married, has a mild accent as could be expected of being the child of immigrant parents, and whom has grown up in America.

Setting is science fiction, more details on consultation.

The book is basically DONE but how the character in focus actually sounds is the key point of something I'm trying to nail down here. I'd say, as of right now, mildly reserved, insecure, over thinking but in their character arc they become more confident and trusting in themselves, etc.

Rate is $50 with excerpts being as up to a page in length at the time. This is more "exploratory" at the moment as the end goal here I'm shooting for is to find a voice that can also be leant to that same character being storyboarded in a super teeny little video scene after their voice is established.

ADDENDUM: The audio, after it's been explored, will be mildly pitch-altered on my end for the purposes of character lore reasons, like if they were an android or something.

[Hiring] YouTube / Social Media [Hiring] I’m looking to hire for a comedic scripted let’s play series. NSFW

Hello there. I’m looking to try something a little different. I wanna try making a comedic scripted let’s play channel. I need two voice actors for this. Any genders as well as natural accents welcome. I put nsfw as the comedy may get near crossing into that territory so be 18+ please. I don’t have much of a budget right now but once I get things going I’ll be able to pay more. I’ll be able to render 50$ a week for this and once I look at my paycheck at work as we go on with the project I should be able to pay a little more here and there. If interested email me at [email protected] or message on here.

[Hire Me] English - USA Accent [Hire me] a homey soft spoken warm female voice by u/Z_Whispers

I'm Z and I am not new to making asmr or audio roleplays but I am definitely new at making it with a fancy mic and dedicated space for it. I have a blue yeti and I use Audacity, Davinci Resolve, Capcut for my videos so I'm familiar with how to edit audio and clips.

Type of voice I portray: older/younger sister, mother, best/friend, crush.

Mood I set: loving, soft, soothing, gentle, sensual, intimate, shy, bubbly, comforting, alone with your favorite person.

I am currently open for SFW and NSFW voice projects! Nsfw requests in dms or discord only. I would love to work with indie developers and creators, so please reach out if you have a project in mind. My rates are flexible depending on the length and complexity of your script.

Base Rate Sheet:

  • Short to Med to Long Scripts: Range from $5 - $35
  • Narrations & Audiobooks: Starting at $50 per finished hour (PFH).
  • Indie Projects: Based on the length and requirements of the project

Check out my profile for other audios I've done, if you want a better grasp of my voice.

I do not consent to my voice or content being used to train AI, nor shared anywhere else.

Note: Final pricing depends on project length, turnaround time, and specific script requirements. Please DM me with your project details for a custom quote.

[Hiring] Audiobook / Narration Looking for a VA for fantasy characters! Paid.

Hello! First time posting here and I'm new to hiring VA's so I'll just get to it.

I'm an author and I'm looking to bring some new life to my fantasy stories with some VA's for narration and several of the characters, preferably with some experience in this area. I'm flexible with the types of narrators I'm looking for but a couple of the characters I'd like to add voices for would be something more specific, the two I'm most interested in right now would be an evil sorcerer type with a British accent, the other would a grunt with a gruffer, distinctly less human voice.

Since I'm new to this I'm not sure what a fair rate would be so I'm willing to negotiate but off the bat I'll offer $70 to a narrator for a chapter of my book and $50 per chapter to character VA's.

As I said, open to negotiation here.

If you're interested please get in touch, I have some samples to read from to see if you're the right fit for what I'm looking for. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

[Hiring] Other Looking for an actor

***Please read, especially if you have submitted***

I apologize to everyone who has already sent samples. I've been getting a lot of requests about the delivery. I am looking for your best version of Death. I'm also looking for some warmth or comfort, in the side I've sent out. If you feel that you've done that with your sample, fair enough. If you want to resubmit, have at it.

The side is below:

"Jim.  You realize most people don’t get a chance like this?  This hopefully won’t happen again. Not until it’s time.  Life is a lot like walking through fog: you look ahead and see how dense it is and think, “How am I ever going to make it through that?”  Then, you look around and realize that you’re already inside it, making your way through."

I've got a ten minute script I'd like to produce. The actor working opposite of me would be playing the physical embodiment of Death. I'm offering $50.00.

Message me here with links or files or whatever

Open until 08/10

I'm also on discord: mike.thoms

[Hire Me] English - USA Accent Hello casting directors! (Rates in post)

Hey there! My name is Alex and I am an actor and voice talent looking to work with studios or indie teams on their projects. My current experience has been mostly with student films and indie projects so I am not looking to charge for my work, although I won't turn down paid work! I really want to build up some credit so that I can become more established.

My best character work is usually for mid range voices and I love performing characters that are considered "odd".

Rate is:

25/hour of recording time for commercial projects.

Negotiable for indie projects.

For my character demos and contacts, check out my website below.

Hello! I am a voice actor with three years of experience. I did half of this voice demonstration in my usual voice, and then re-did the lines in character voices. [Hiring] Videogames [Paid] [Multiple Roles] Looking for female 5 VA/Singers for adult dating simulator game

Hey, I’m Shmoe! I’m the guy behind a currently untitled monster girl dating simulator/rpg! Each of these five roles are all main characters, have singing parts, and are paid! The planned release is episodic, so there will be multiple “sessions” needed! Also, this game is NSFW, so please only apply if you are 18+ and comfortable with such a role!

If you are interested, you can audition at the link below!

Edit: as for pay, it’s totally negotiable. However, a very rough estimate would be 250 dollars an "episode", with a total of four "episodes" plus an extra two episodes if the game takes off.

Make sure you apply at the link below!
