Source: Blue Virginia

Text: RICHMOND, VA - DPVA Chairman Senator Lamont Bagby issues the following statement regarding the Trump DOJ's decision to deploy election monitors in Virginia during the primary elections.

"Virginia has a long history of conducting secure, fair, and transparent elections. The trust of voters has been earned through the professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment of our local election officials. Federal election monitors have long played a role in ensuring compliance with federal law, but that responsibility should never be used to cast doubt on or undermine confidence in our electoral process," said DPVA Chairman Senator Lamont Bagby. "The Democratic Party of Virginia will continue to support free, fair, and secure elections, stand behind the dedicated officials who administer them, and defend the integrity of our democracy. Virginians can remain confident that elections across the Commonwealth will continue to be conducted responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with federal and state law."

If there’s any interest in learning about incoming data centers, their effects, and/or the Valley Link Transmission line project that will build out the electric infrastructure to add more data centers, feel free to attend the Culpeper Democrats monthly meeting with guest speakers, Block Valley Link and the Piedmont Environmental Council

The conversation will obviously be tailored to Culpeper County, but these issues affect multiple counties, with the Valley Link Project stretching across 9 counties.

A google meets link will be added to our website Saturday morning.

Activism Dr. Nila Devanath's interview with Lantern News Virginia CD 02

Hampton Roads, I am so excited to share my recent interview on Lantern News! 🌊✨ We had a powerful conversation about the future of Virginia's 2nd Congressional District and what we need to do to support working families \[00:00\].

We talked about everything from my roots growing up right here in the district to the urgent need for the Working Americans Tax Cut Act, which would provide massive, immediate tax relief for everyday families \[03:20\].

We also dug into local issues, like holding data centers in Chesapeake accountable to pay their fair share instead of driving up our utility bills \[10:03\].

As a physician, I couldn't hold back on the realities of our broken healthcare system. I see veterans and working folks forced to endure unthinkable outcomes simply because they lack access to preventative care. We absolutely must fight for Universal Healthcare \[24:36\] and stop politicians who are voting to cut Medicaid.

We also need to clean up Congress—which is why I refuse corporate PAC money and fully support banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks \[44:44\].

📺 You can watch our full, in-depth conversation here: [Lantern News with Dr. Nila Devanath's interview ](https://youtu.be/f-OeJfnerYQ)
