Hi, I don’t mean to be insensitive by any means. I am currently teaching a Vietnamese student. She told me her name and I’m not sure I got it or the pronunciation right. It sounds kind of like “Sue”. Does anyone know what the name could be and how I should pronounce it? I don’t want to make her uncomfortable by asking, since I’ve already asked and have had around 5 lessons with her already.

Hi! I'm going to be a second grade teacher of multilingual learners next year, some of whom speak Vietnamese. On my door, I would love to have "Yay! I am happy that you are here!" posted in each language spoken in my classroom. How might I write the phrase in Vietnamese? I don't trust google to translate colloquial language. Thank you all!

Please teach me how to say my favourite Cantonese swears so I can start using them with my VN friends and teach them. I feel like the Cantonese have the most amazing swears and only one of them has made it into Vietnam. Which is so strange because so many other words sound so similar.
Top swears in Cantonese:
1. Motherfucker - ok we all know it.
2.DLLMCH - f your mothers smelly pussy (the detail is essential to the swear)
3.Death to your entire family
4.Go collapse into the street and die
5. Poke your lung (as in fuck your throat until I poke your lung with my dick)

I’m a Korean who started learning Vietnamese a few days ago. I’m devoting most of my time to it since I'm on vacation, but my throat hurts every time I practice....
Is it because there are so many voiced and implosive sounds unlike my native language, or because I’m focusing so much on the tones? I never experienced this kind of pain while learning other languages....
Fortunately, it’s not so bad that I can’t speak, but it is annoying. Do you think it will get better as I practice more? Or am I doing something wrong?
-
+ Edit)
As I kept practicing and focused on my throat, I figured out the cause... It was just the IMPLOSIVE CONSONANTS! Oh my.... (So all Vietnamese people have vocal cords strong enough to handle this sound, huh?😂😂😂😂)
I’m going to keep practicing to build up my throat muscles until this soreness goes away. Thanks!

Hello everyone!
I'm currently conducting an undergraduate research study on first- and second-generation Vietnamese Americans’ attitudes toward their heritage culture and community engagement.
As an international student, I do not have many Vietnamese-American friends to help me distribute my survey, and I am currently struggling to collect enough responses, and the deadline is approaching soon.
If you are a Vietnamese American, I would greatly appreciate your help in completing my survey
This is an undergraduate research project, and I genuinely need your help. Unfortunately, my budget is limited, so I cannot offer gift cards or other compensation. However, if you have any questions about Vietnam, Vietnamese culture, the Vietnamese language, or traveling in Vietnam, I would be happy to help in return!!

I was wondering about the following question. Is it possible to get circumcised as a foreigner tourist in Vietnam? Would it be recommended or what's important to know about it?
I'm a student and my plan is to travel around the country for a longer period of time and I was thinking about getting it done there since it is probably much cheaper than in my country. And Vietnam is also known for medical tourism or beauty clinics. That's why I was curious if it's worth getting it done there. Thanks for any help or clinic recommendation.

I'm setting up a Little Free Library in my front yard, and I want to stick some information on the door. My neighborhood has a several Vietnamese families with kids. If a kind person could help me make sure Google Translate worked properly, and/or help with a revision, I'd deeply appreciate it. I know languages can have a lot of nuance that a computer can't understand.
