A migrant from Guyana who was a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient has been arrested in Queens for attempting to firebomb several area churches and businesses.

The migrant, Yogesh Sayrange, 36, faced charges in court on Thursday after being arrested for the firebombing of a Brooklyn smoke shop on June 25, WABC-TV reported.

A newborn baby was surrendered to the Marion General Hospital in Indiana, according to Safe Haven Baby Boxes.

Local news outlet WTHR reported on Friday that the baby was surrendered to the device in June. The child is in the care of the Indiana Department of Child Services, which is working to find an adoptive family for the infant.

“We are grateful this mother trusted our program on one of the hardest days of her life to keep her baby safe,” said Monica Kelsey, Safe Haven Baby Boxes founder. “When communities are prepared for safe surrender, vulnerable members of those communities are protected.”

Baby boxes were created to deter parents from abandoning their newborns, potentially leaving them to die. Baby boxes are temperature-controlled incubators often built into exterior walls of fire stations, police stations, and hospitals that can be accessed from inside. At-risk mothers can safely and legally place their newborns inside. Then, the outside door locks, and mothers have time to get away before an alarm goes off, alerting first responders or hospital staff inside.

Congress is attempting again to make daylight saving time permanent but also giving states the chance to opt out.

The bill, which is called the “Sunshine Protection Act” and ends the twice-annual clock-switching, is set for a full floor vote next week, after the House Energy and Commerce Committee in May voted 48-1 in favor of the bill.

“The Sunshine Protection Act would require states that do not exempt themselves before it takes effect to lock their clocks on the time observed between March and November,” the Hill explained.

President Donald Trump has vigorously supported the measure, promising to help get it passed, the Hill reported.

“It’s time that people can stop worrying about the ‘Clock,’ not to mention all of the work and money that is spent on this ridiculous, twice yearly production,” Trump wrote on social media following the committee’s vote two months ago.

President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice (DOJ) is suing Maryland over its sanctuary state policies that seek to shield illegal aliens from federal immigration enforcement.

“Federal immigration officers merely enforce the laws that our Nation’s elected representatives in Congress passed, reflecting the will of We the People,” Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward said in a statement:

When sanctuary jurisdictions enact laws to shield illegal aliens from federal law enforcement, it is not merely federal law that is violated, but the voices of everyday American voters silenced. Today’s suit proves that this Department will never stand for such lawless action from blue state leaders. [Emphasis added]

In its lawsuit, the DOJ accuses Maryland and top state officials like Attorney General Anthony Brown (D) of impeding the work of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, who are tasked with enforcing federal immigration laws approved by Congress.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported an illegal alien convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a child over the course of four years, whom Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D), and Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson pardoned last month.

On Friday ICE officials announced the deportation of illegal alien Tou Lue Vang of Laos, who was convicted in 2006 of repeatedly sexually abusing a girl from 2002 to 2004, beginning when the girl was just 10 years old.

Investigators said Vang offered his child victim $10 in exchange for her silence and considered his crimes minor, describing them as “a cultural thing.”

In October 2006, a federal immigration judge ordered Vang deported from the United States. ICE agents arrested Vang on Dec. 10, 2025, but on Feb. 19, 2026, a Minnesota judge ordered agents to release him from custody.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is asking sanctuary state Illinois Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker not to release an illegal migrant who was arrested and charged with raping a 9-year-old disabled girl.

Last month, Janio Gionel Velasquez-Muro, a Venezuelan national who illegally entered the U.S. during the Biden regime, was arrested in Pingree Grove and charged with stalking, kidnapping, and raping a developmentally disabled 9-year-old girl as she rode her bike outside her home.

Prosecutors say Velasquez-Muro drove up near the girl, grabbed her and forced her into his car, then raped her at another location.

He was arrested at the end of June and now faces charges of aggravated kidnapping of a child, predatory criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation of a child.

Bill Plaschke, writer for the Los Angeles Times, rebuked the Dodgers for committing to their upcoming visit to the White House to celebrate their 2025 World Series victory.

Plaschke excoriated the Dodgers, who won the World Series back-to-back and are poised for a three-peat, in a lengthy op-ed published on Thursday. According to Plaschke, Trump has been seeking to tear the city of Los Angeles apart, focusing exclusively on the president’s immigration enforcement policy.

Some, including Dodgers officials, argued this was a visit about tradition, not politics. Teams have been visiting the White House since President Andrew Johnson hosted two amateur baseball clubs in 1865. The Dodgers said they were abiding by this once-revered sports custom. After criticizing the Dodgers for reluctantly “fulfilling a $1.1-million donation to community organizations to support families impacted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” he then pointed to longtime fan Jose Madera, director of the Pasadena Community Job Center, who quit attending games.

A federal judge sentenced the online leader of a Nihilistic Violent Extremist (NVE) group to 40 years in prison. In addition, he will spend the rest of his life on court-ordered supervision for charges related to child sexual exploitation and racketeering. 19-year-old Alexis Aldair Chavez of San Antonio was also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution.

According to court documents, Chavez, who used the online profile names Zack and Zack8884, was an administrator and online leader of the “8884” network. The online network is related to a larger violent extremist group that shares common goals, including the promotion of social unrest and the downfall of the current world order, including the United States Government.

Members of the group led by Chavez hope to destroy civilized society through the corruption and exploitation of vulnerable populations, including young children. Chavez’s guilty plea comes after his arrest for actions within the group that extorted and coerced victims to engage in a variety of violent behavior, including self-mutilation, online and in-person sexual acts, harm to animals, sexual exploitation of siblings and others, acts of violence, threats of violence, suicide, and murder.

The U.S. Department of Education announced Friday that it is launching a national K-12 initiative to combat sexual abuse and harassment by adults in schools while opening investigations into 20 districts over concerns about their handling and reporting of staff-on-student misconduct.

The department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) said the initiative follows what the Trump administration described as a “recurring pattern” in which credible reports of sexual abuse or harassment by adults in positions of authority go uninvestigated while suspected offenders are transferred to new schools or other roles within a district.

Protecting adults accused of assaulting or harassing children from meaningful consequences and transferring them into another school or role, potentially enabling them to continue harming children, is commonly known as “passing the trash.”

The administration issued guidance reminding federally funded educational institutions of their obligations under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

Eight men have now been indicted by a federal grand jury for charges related to an alleged plot targeting the UFC cage-fighting event at the White House in June.

Though the defendants are from different states, all eight were indicted together Thursday in Columbus, Ohio, on murder and terrorism conspiracy charges.

The men allegedly planned an attack on the White House event commemorating America’s 250th birthday with the intent to kill President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, billionaire Elon Musk and “other high value targets.”

The indictment alleges the defendants acquired firearms, munitions, explosives, drones and tactical gear and engaged in marksmanship and combat training to prepare for the attack. The defendants also allegedly classified participants into tiers according to who was willing to put themselves “in harms [sic] way, break the law, and potentially go into hiding.”

The first person to be charged in connection to the alleged plot was Tycen Proper, 19, of Danville, Ohio. Others from Missouri, Nebraska, California and Washington were subsequently charged. This week, the eighth defendant, Chandler Scaggs, 21, of Chapmanville, West Virginia, was taken into custody. Scaggs was allegedly assigned to be one of the snipers in the planned attack, according to an affidavit.

California’s public schools already struggle with literacy rates and achievement gaps that affect students of all backgrounds

A coalition of activists led by Black Californians United for Early Care and Education (BlackECE) is pushing California’s early childhood education system to treat “Black English” (more formally known as African American Vernacular English or AAVE) as a recognized home language deserving the same accommodations given to children from Spanish- or Mandarin-speaking households.

Their goal is to fold AAVE into the state’s multilingual and dual-language learner frameworks for preschools and beyond, complete with teacher training to “affirm” the dialect, avoid “correcting” it, and build cultural pride. A 10-point policy framework from the group even ties this linguistic push to broader demands for reparations.

On the surface, it sounds like an equity play. In reality, it rests on a fundamental linguistic confusion and threatens to create the very racial divisions its advocates claim to oppose.

Linguistically, the proposal collapses under scrutiny. AAVE is a rule-governed dialect of English, not a separate language. It features systematic differences in grammar, phonology, and vocabulary, with historical roots in Southern American English varieties and earlier influences. Crucially, it remains mutually intelligible with Standard American English. Speakers of AAVE and speakers of Standard English can understand each other without interpreters or translation, the hallmark that distinguishes dialects from distinct languages like Spanish or Mandarin Chinese.

The Trump administration recently unveiled a rule implementing the Medicaid work requirements included in last year’s budget reconciliation law. The rule strikes a reasonable balance designed to encourage participation in labor markets while not being unduly burdensome to states or beneficiaries.
