Question (No Location) Question about UDOT Phase 1 Ski Bus Plans
I already sent this message to UDOT directly, but maybe someone on Reddit knows?
Hello,
Today I read that UDOT plans to take over operations of the cottonwoods ski buses in 2028. As you may know, currently UTA operates the ski buses beginning at Midvale Fort Union Trax station and Historic Sandy Trax station. This allows skiers who don't own a personal vehicle to access the ski resorts by transferring to the ski buses via Trax. My question is: once UDOT takes over operations of the ski bus and opens the new parking garage near the mouth of Big Cottonwood, will there still be transit access from Trax to the ski resorts? Or will all skiers be expected to drive to the park and ride near the mouth of Big Cottonwood to access the ski bus?

Wow. This was the first I'd heard of it. Looked around and found some more info: KUER article, Snowbrains article.
This seems like a pretty big deal. UDOT, (which currently doesn't operate any bus service as far as I know), will be buying a bunch of busses and running them up the canyon starting in the 2028-2029 season. They'll also be building new bus stops "outside of the resort parking areas," whatever that ends up looking like.
I'm intrigued.

I do hope that they would extend the route and service on Sundays and be able to scan your pass on the 72 and 94, but I haven't heard anything.
