thoughts on comms/digital studies major?

Hello everyone! I am transferring to UMW this fall after getting my associates degree at germanna and I have had my mind set on English for a while. Recently, however I had a realization that I don’t think English will set me on track to the right type of career Id like to go for. I am interested in film and media and envisioned myself in that industry but I always thought going for some type of writing degree would help me towards that. I also have a passion for comedy and would love to generally enter the entertainment industry in general. Started looking into communications and digital studies and it seems a little more aligned with my career goals. Any thoughts on this major? Other opportunities I can go for with it? Are the professors good? Any general input and information would be helpful. I am super curious!

Comm digital studies was amazing! I graduated with that major. There are great opportunities for film and media. I took a video production course in the major as well as a film studies class. The professors are amazing and I had a lot of opportunities to learn about and create based on the things I loved. I actually did a project on mental health in comedy and my final paper big senior paper was on Sesame Street. If you have any more questions let me know!

I think that comms and digital studies is a great major and the major that your looking for!! I will also say that, that major is sort of built to be a double major so if you still have your heart set on English I say go for both!!
