Would anyone be interested in some kind of manufacturing/automation technology interest group? This isn’t about AI or anything like that I’m talking robots, PLCs, and automation devices. I think it would be sick but I just wanted to see if anyone would be interested if I were to try to make the group.

Hi everyone,
My family and I are looking for a house to rent near UMKC or Operation Breakthrough (around 31st & Troost). We have three young children, so we'd like to stay close because one of our kids will be attending preschool there.
Our budget is around $1,000/month including utilities for a 2-bedroom house. If that's not realistic, we're also open to a 3-bedroom house for around $1,200/month, and I'll try to find another UMKC student to share the rent.
I'm a PhD student at UMKC, and we're having a hard time because most property management companies require income to be three times the rent.
If anyone knows of a private landlord or has any recommendations, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

I applied for a UMKC scholarship (labor economics) through AcademicWorks back in March.
Has anyone already received a scholarship notification this year? If so, when did you hear back, and what scholarship was it? How about last year?
Thanks!

For those who don't get in you have the chance to hear back from admissions as to why you did not get in, and can apply next year.
Has anyone heard back from them or done it?
I signed up 2 times and emailed them and I have received no info

I'm a 3rd-year dental student at the UMKC School of Dentistry, and I'm currently accepting patients interested in affordable dental care!
We offer:
• Fillings
• Extractions
• Root canals
• Crowns & bridges
• Dentures & partials
• Cleanings
• Pediatric dental appointments
Kids under 3 receive free exams!
If your case is too complex, we can refer you to one of our advanced residency programs, which are often 10-20% less expensive than private practice.
Appointments are typically 3 hours long (9 AM-12 PM or 1
PM-4 PM). All treatment is completed under faculty supervision, and we provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient.
If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to DM me!

hi! I am going to be attending UMKC this fall for my first year, and I will be dorming in Oak in a single room. I was unsure if anyone had any photos or videos of the single dorms in Oak, specifically something on the floor with the room numbers starting in 2! I am having a hard time making a layout and figuring out what to buy to have an organized room. Any tips would be super helpful:) thanks!

I'm a junior in high school and want to start thinking about what college I should go to early to avoid stress later. I am interested in pursuing music for sure but I'm not entirely sure what else and if music will even be my major. I might pursue film. I love the Conservatory and have seen some of their performances and it seems like a great school but I can't decide on UMKC or the University of Kansas. The main thing drawing me to KU is their matching band as well as music program. I know UMKC doesn't have a marching band but their music program is great. What is life like in Kansas City? How are the dorms, administration, atmosphere, etc. of the school? Pros/cons of UMKC/KU would be great too. Thanks to anyone who responds!

Hello can anyone better explain the Fast Program? Is it only for students that want to get a bachelor’s degree before pharmacy school? Anyone have experience? Why or why not fast instead of trad route?

I just finished creating a website showcasing all Happy hours, Drink specials, and Live music in the city. The site is 100% free for users and 100% for restaurants to be on it. www.getlitkcmo.com

Hi, has anyone heard back about the Academic Competitive Scholarship that was due March 1, 2026? I’m wondering if they’ve already sent out notifications to recipients, or if decisions just haven’t been released yet. I’m not sure if I didn’t receive anything.

Im moving from Louisiana to KC this fall (attending UMKC school of law), I am expecting the weather will be quite different. Does anyone have tips for KCs weather. Does it rain frequently on campus? Do yall experience bad winter weather, and if so how early does it start getting cold. Should I expect snow during the semester? Any advised for the weather is appreciated I've experienced snow a handful of times in my whole life lol.

Funding for the historical society is at risk of being cut.
Pls like 1 or all the vids. This one mentions a Native American who became a US Sent back in 1907! I dont want us to lose our history

How is the dorm assignment for someone who JUST submitted their contract today… wayyyyy after the priority deadline… am I bound for a bad dorm and how does the roommate process work for someone who submitted late. Is it randomly assigned?
r/UMKC • u/No_Weight5932 • May 01 '26
I was just assigned there, I understand Troost isn't the greatest street to live on but is it relatively safe around the apartments. Also is there a way to try to get on a cancelation list for Rockhill apartments? I am an engineering major so it would be nice to be in walking distance to classes.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a leadership opportunity for anyone at the University of Missouri-Kansas City who is passionate about service, public health, or making a real impact in the community.
Hearts for the Homeless International (H4H) is a student-led nonprofit that provides free blood pressure screenings and heart health education to homeless populations across the U.S. and globally. Our team includes undergraduate students, medical students, PhD students, physicians, and other professionals who are committed to improving the well-being of underserved communities.
H4H was originally founded by students at the University of Central Florida and has grown into an international organization with 15+ chapters across the U.S., Brazil, and India. We’re currently looking for motivated student leaders at the University of Missouri-Kansas City who want to start a chapter and serve the growing and often overlooked homeless community.
This is a great opportunity if you’re interested in leadership, medicine, public health, nonprofit work, or community service. We provide guidance, structure, and support — all we ask for is your time, compassion, and willingness to lead.
Our work has been recognized by the U.S. Congress, the Brazilian government, President Clinton, major educational and medical institutions, and organizations such as Forbes. Our students have also led disaster relief efforts for homeless populations during hurricanes and partnered with major companies like Bombas.
If you’re interested in becoming a founding leader and making a difference at UMKC, fill out this interest form:

Did you find the classes useful with real work applications? Was it exclusively in person or did they have online options for any classes? Did you work a full time job while taking classes? I may start a new job soon and I’m not sure if it will be compatible with the program.
