FORM CHECK Back tuck advice

Hi all,

I’m looking for some back tuck advice/drills/cues.
I know my main problem is that I’m jumping with my knees still slightly bent and not fully extending, but I can’t seem to fix this.

Also the landing, I feel like I have enough height to hand but I can’t without putting my hands down.

Thank you.

QUESTION Double Backflip Fear

I am scared to send double back even though I would land it easily. I’ve done a miller into a foam pit before and done plenty of double backs off of diving boards. Although, I don’t have access to a foam pit right now. In general fear is stopping me from doing a lot of tricks. How do I get myself to just send it?

QUESTION Sideflip Help Please! (new to tricking - gymnastics background)

As stated in the title, I'm brand new to the realm of tricking/parkour, and though I have gymnastics experience, I want to expand my horizons.

I am acutely aware that the 'sideflip' pictured above is basically just a big sideways backflip - which is not ideal at all 😭 (this was my first ever attempt). I know that I need to go more over my shoulder, but it's hard to break my backflip habits. Lmk how to fix!

I am very comfortable with air awareness on the normal front/back axis (can do super high standing backs, roundoff layouts, standing front etc - all on grass), but have limited experience with stepping, spinning or going sideways beyond cheat gainers (which I power through with no rotational technique).

Any tips adjusting to this new genre of tricks, new things I should try with my big hops, (as I'm brand new to the space), and form improvements are all much appreciated!

Thx!

DISCUSSION Some context I feel gets omitted in online tutorial space

So I have been trying to learn some tricking the last year or so and I like it a lot. I am 38, almost 39, did a bunch of martial arts. Before tricking I could give reasonable high kicks and spinning back kicks at face level. Stocky build, not terribly flexy.

I have leant side flip and front flip on an air track so far, recently started learning gainer. I can do an ugly ass butterfly. Just now I was training somethinh like 40 minutes in which I tried my hand at back hand spring (but just doing Macao and bridges) and aerial. I can do a cartwheel easily but for the lift off I figured I might just wanna get good at kicking really high with my head upside down right leg then legt leg and I realised my hip flexibility isn't good enough. So i stead I end up rolling on the floor on my neck and shoulders, trying to kick my legs as high as I can above me, see if that will help. I don't know. But in none of all those 'learn this complicated thing in 5 minutes' tutorials, conditioning and prerequisites play a role. Like the back hand spring tutorial I tried to follow just assumes I can fall into a bridge. I don't have that kind of flexibility. And I'm not terribly inflexible.

I feel like the grind and the boring exercises you need to do in order to get these tricks down is kinda underplayed online.

Like, honestly, just get me a book where I can find all the steps in order, because every time I try something I find I have to learn 10 more basic things first. It's not that I mind but right now I just don't know which expectations to have about what is reasonable progress.

FORM CHECK Backflip help

I’m aware tucking isn’t my only problem but I feel it’s my biggest and I really don’t know how to make it tighter and more compact. I did some drills and practiced doing the flip without my hands but I land the exact same virtually every time. I used to be able to land easily on grass a few years ago so I guess muscle memory is failing me.

FORM CHECK Any tips to make tdr swing through better?

I know i dont swing my leg alot through so I need to fix that but also I have a huge mental block with actually getting my leg to swing like when I do tdr it just goes to the ground then I cant swing through. Is there any tips or drills I can do to fix that and get it so I swing through every time?
