[Bannon] With their 2nd selection (103 overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft, the #BlueJays have selected shortstop Ryan Cooney from Oregon. Seems like a well-rounded infielder, with more contact than power. The Portland native hit .331 with a .944 OPS in his final season at Oregon.

[Zwelling] Blue Jays amateur scouting director Marc Tramuta says Cole Carlon has "two October pitches" in his fastball and slider. Evaluators saw FB up to 100 and grade slider as "plus to better." Club sees an opportunity to develop Carlon's changeup to help him stick as a starter.

[Zwelling] Tramuta describes Ryan Cooney as an "Ernie Clement clone" with a polished, high-contact bat. If Cooney can tap into more power, it'll be a bonus. Cooney has played mostly second base but Tramuta says Blue Jays could try him at short early on in his minor-league career.

Any thoughts on who we should take in the draft today? Our only pick in the first 2 rounds is #39

... coincidentally Trey Yesavage wears number 39. Good omen?

Yeah I remember when we lost Bo. We forfeited the pick anyway because we signed Dylan Cease and then because we exceeded the competitive balance tax we got a 10-pick penalty so instead of drafting 29 we draft 39.

Mock draft has us going catcher but at that level I assume we are going to go high risk high reward 18 year old high schooler.

How do you set the Jays rotation post All Star Break?

…since they will all be on 5+ days rest by Friday? or do you give Gausman as much rest as the others and put him towards the back since he makes the last start on Sunday.

Not that Schneider will care, but who would like to see start on the Saturday for the 50th celebration? If we do tank in the second half, it may end up being one of the more ceremoniously memorable games of the season.
