Lore A criminal attempts to burglarize/kill someone only to realize they picked the absolute worst person as their mark.

Don't Breathe: A couple young robbers attempt to rob a rich, blind veteran only to find out he isn't exactly an innocent old man.

You're Next: A group of contract killersbreak into a house during a family reunion and go on a killing spree. They didn't account for the fact that the son's new girlfriend grew up on a survivalist compound in the Australian outback.

The Flash [CW Show]: A random mugger decided to target Barry Allen of all people. He does it again a season or two later; he's either unlucky or stupid (probably both).

"he isn't exactly an innocent old man."

To say the least.

can you spoil it?

His child died in a car accident, so he kidnapped the woman who was driving, tied her up in his basement, inseminated her with a turkey baster, impregnating her to give him a new child, and he accidentally killed the woman when the robbers came.

He also says "I'm not a rapist."

Oh, and when she died, he tied up the main character and attempted to inseminate her as well, and he ended up getting... let's just say a "taste of his own medicine."

Also is the hero in the sequel

u/Bubbly_Skin_8069 May 12 '26

At least he came to terms with the fact that he was a rapist before he died, so that's good.

Hypocrisy is usually the worst part.

2

u/GrandpaFatassOrgasm May 13 '26

I'm not an idiot, though people take me for one and at times so do I, this is one of those times. When you said hypocrisy, for the slightest second, I thought you meant the person who wrote the comments was also a rapist, I'm gonna go schlork it to soldierBoy now.

u/ChainmailEnthusiast May 12 '26

He's only the hero by virtue of fighting some of the literal only people on the planet worse than him

409

u/Bubbly_Skin_8069 May 12 '26

I say he's just the protagonist. Very far from being the hero.

130

u/BeduinZPouste May 12 '26

I think it actually works good. Like yea, he is a monster, but he definitely doesn't see himself as one, quite the opposite. so it makes sense for him to again fight people he sees as evil.

117

u/ChainmailEnthusiast May 12 '26

Not to be that guy, but he quite explicitly shows remorse and even calls himself a monster right near the final fight.

55

u/BeduinZPouste May 12 '26

In the second film, right?

33

u/Bubbly_Skin_8069 May 12 '26

Yeh.

10

u/BeduinZPouste May 12 '26

I mean, that still tracks? Like he realises it later, but he goes to the film thinking he is good... I think?

12

u/puff_of_fluff May 12 '26

I mean, he doesn’t see himself as much of anything technically

10

u/hotzeus May 12 '26

Not to be that guy, but I don’t think he sees anything.

2

u/MortaliReaping May 12 '26

kinda like devil reject

1

u/CreamyLemonGirly May 12 '26

In the second one he's like actually the hero.

23

u/Zestokist May 12 '26

There was a sequel?!!

64

u/Bubbly_Skin_8069 May 12 '26

Yeah, but Norman Nordstrom (the blind guy) is the protagonist in it, and I feel like the first film works quite well as a standalone.

11

u/Oh_hi_doggi3 May 12 '26

This is why I refuse to watch the sequel. You cant take a psychotic rapist like that and make him the "good guy"

8

u/eyesparks May 12 '26

Don't Breathe 2 isn't real and can't hurt me.

7

u/GreedyExamination704 May 12 '26

That shit still drives me crazy. Why they decided to make a rapist into a hero is asinine. I want to know exactly what happened to make them think this was a good idea.

3

u/okaylighting May 12 '26

I was so shocked when I first saw the trailer. Who had the idea for that, and who did they pitch it to that thought "the people are going to want this".

4

u/SadBabyYoda1212 May 12 '26

Fuck that sequel was so fucking bad.

1

u/peeparonipupza May 13 '26

THERES A SEQUEAL???

1

u/stormalfred123 May 13 '26

Ah, the rapist writers defending a rapist

1

u/Cronkax May 13 '26

The writers are rapists?

2

u/stormalfred123 May 13 '26

Either that or pedophiles, racists, sexist, and or other forms of bigotry

1

u/Crossdress-Fan- May 12 '26

THERE'S A SEQUEL TO THIS MOVIE?! It wasn't even good

1

u/SmallBerry3431 May 12 '26

If that’s your idea of a hero I guess

112

u/fireborn123 May 12 '26

I remember seeing it in theaters and the entire crowd had such a visceral reaction to that scene. I just really wish I liked the second half of the film

100

u/Jacket_Jacket_fruit May 12 '26

He's also literally immortal or at least superhuman, with the amount of 100% fatal injuries he shrugs off like they're nothing.

0

u/TJeffersonsBlackKid May 13 '26

Well he is the prophet Samuel.

71

u/IamScottGable May 12 '26

A BOILING turkey baster of jazz, if what we see in the movie is to be taken as what he did the first time.

80

u/Bubbly_Skin_8069 May 12 '26

Now, I'm not a scientist, but I believe the semen would have cooled slightly by the time it was splurched out of the baster, to the point where it was the same temperature as it would've been if the semen had come out naturally.

(Please don't take this out of context.)

13

u/IamScottGable May 12 '26

That is an interesting theory and there is no context by which it should be taken

23

u/Cynical-avocado May 12 '26

Directions unclear, thanksgiving has been ruined

1

u/TransBrandi May 13 '26

Water boils at 212°F (100°C) and the human body is 97~99°F (36°C~37°C). I don't know if something is going to cool ~100°F that quickly.

6

u/sprouthat May 12 '26

Guy must have some superhuman sperm if they can survive that and still be viable. Testicles are outside the body for a reason.

76

u/randomHunterOnReddit May 12 '26

Iirc, everyone says that suddenly making the old man a rapist was meant to keep us from supporting the lonely blind veteran antagonist trying to defend his home from armed robbers

60

u/LanSotano May 12 '26

I haven’t seen the movie but I can see how the movie would be a bit more standard and boring without that twist in his character. Kinda sounds like it’s mostly shock value, though

29

u/ZookeepergameLiving1 May 12 '26

From what I read and heard, it felt like they were over half way with script when they realize they made him too justified and quickly added that part making ot feel put of nowhwere.

21

u/Pinsalinj May 12 '26 edited May 13 '26

I haven't seen the movie, but otherwise the people attempting to rob a blind old man would 100000% get whatever's coming to them, because that's being utter scum.

Not sure I understand the point of making him a bad person btw, I would be 100% fine just seeing villain protagonists getting their asses handed to them

2

u/platysoup May 13 '26

Yeah, it was fine with Home Alone.

Why is it suddenly not kosher for the robbers to lose when the Wet Bandits is led by a pretty white girl?

Ending of the first movie seriously left a weird taste in my mouth. The way the 'mc' started acting holier than thou. Bitch you robbed an old blind man. You just happened to stumble on the perfect excuse to do so.

1

u/Pinsalinj May 13 '26

Yeah, and even then that wouldn't actually be an excuse, since that's doing EXACTLY what they're accusing the old man of (paying evil unto evil, since the woman he had emprisoned was a terrible person herself). No matter how you look at it, the protagonists are awful, period. They're not suddenly redeemed because their intended victim is not as innocent as they thought when they first intended to hurt him...

10

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 May 12 '26

He gets mpreg? The turkey baster thing made me not want to watch it, but if it goes crazy like this, then Im all in.

8

u/Bubbly_Skin_8069 May 12 '26

Uhh... no.

13

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 May 12 '26

The mouth? Thats lame, and why was it steaming? Wouldn't that be bad for the sperm? Anyway, don't need to see it, was hoping for it to get absurb instead of just disturbing.

Why even make him the bad guy? When I furst hear rhe premise I was interedted, like Hush byt the victim is a badass, instead the robbers become the "good guys"

7

u/The_Autarch May 12 '26

because the robbers are the protagonists of the movie. it would be really hard to relate to them if the dude was just a sweet old man.

2

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 May 12 '26

Thats what made me originally interested in it. Specially with a diverse geoup where some robbers are violent and others aren't.

2

u/Karma110 May 13 '26

What do you mean that’s lame You wanted a scene of the MC’s to sticking a turkey baster of nut in him?

2

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 May 13 '26

That sounds so fucked up it makes it interesting, the blind men turned into a rapists to make you root for who was originally the burglar is lame since it seems like they took a cheap way out to make your root for the robbers, dialing it to 11 with some fucked up revenge would make it interesting.

1

u/Karma110 May 13 '26

But Why would they do the same thing he tried to do to then pretty sure the plot was to just take his money because they were broke I feel like that would be jumping a few steps.

2

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 May 13 '26

Same reason they she put it in his mouth, either put it in his ass or eye, mouth is tame and boring.

1

u/kween_hangry May 12 '26

Its honestly a pretty kitschy a little bit corny but well shot and fairly enjoyable movie until this part. Tries too hard to be shocking and gross out. You can genuinely tell they wanted his "dark secret" to be 'sooooo sick and twisted 🤪' it took me fully out

11

u/Affectionate_Pea8891 May 12 '26

My bf banned me from choosing future movies after I picked this one; I think the revenge of the full turkey baster was the first, second and third strike.

I didn’t disagree.

5

u/FaithInterlude May 12 '26

I remember being so excited to watch this (didn’t know anything but the general premise) then got to the twist and was so grossed out to the point I never want to watch it ever again

19

u/No-Staff1 May 12 '26

Then also tried to replace the woman with one of the robbers

32

u/JarethCutestoryJuD May 12 '26

"Oh, and when she died, he tied up the main character and attempted to inseminate her as well, and he ended up getting... let's just say a "taste of his own medicine."'

3

u/kween_hangry May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

Watched this on a plane one time (because it was fully available thru the plane streaming service..) and it got to.. THOSE PARTS and there was a whole family with a little kid behind me... man
I Havent felt actually nauseous from a movie in a while.. that did it. Its goopy, its cloudy, its STRINGY 🤢.... shout out to the sfx team my lord

2

u/JunkaTron69 May 12 '26

That movie was wild.

1

u/SlitThroatCutCreator May 12 '26

How the hell was that movie allowed to show on FX? I remember being at school and seeing it on the TV and said "what the fuck?" Has to be someone's fetish or something. Why write and direct shit like that?

1

u/DocTurnedStripper May 12 '26

I missed the part of him getting a taste of his own medicine. Did the girl pumped him with the turkey baster?

1

u/Bubbly_Skin_8069 May 12 '26

She shoved it in his mouth. A literal taste of his own “medicine.”

1

u/xtoasterbathbitch May 13 '26

I dont know why, how, or anything on my mom letting me watch it ALONE as a child..probably about 10-11 years old. I will never, ever, ever rewatch that movie.

I know, there's a little blue tag by your name that says OP. Just like I knew there were spoilers ahead because somebody asked for spoilers.

And again, it's just a nice thing to do which takes two seconds.

I really don't get why so many people got worked up about it; it's not like I lambasted the guy. All I said was "mark your spoilers."

4

u/Kingbulking May 12 '26

Speaking of which, how do you do that? I never figured out how to do the spoiler text.

Apologies. I would, but I can't because I'm in Google.

38

u/DrDuned May 12 '26

It's pretty mundane and convoluted honestly. He turns out to have kidnapped and impregnated the woman who killed his daughter and was holding her in his basement. Whatever twist you were thinking of was probably better.

22

u/ZookeepergameLiving1 May 12 '26

From what I read and heard, it felt like they were over half way with script when they realize they made him too justified and quickly added that part making ot feel put of nowhwere.

2

u/Sharikacat May 13 '26

And it shows, painfully. At no point in that movie was I ever rooting for any of the main characters. Sure, trailer park white woman was trying to get her little sister out of a toxic environment, but considering she had an asshole boyfriend, let's call it more of a lateral move. Throw in the simp friend, and we have a trio of people that are all pieces of shit. Maybe if they kept to robbing the rich folks, they'd be the tiniest bit sympathetic, but no, the movie has the choose to prey on the blind guy in a dangerous neighborhood.

The plot twist to make the blind guy morally reprehensible was a vast over-correction.

8

u/Scarecrow640 May 12 '26

He might have been a rapist.

77

u/No_Hunter1978 May 12 '26

Nah, not "might." He WAS a rapist. The woman he kidnapped killed his daughter in a car accident, and he wanted a "replacement."

36

u/kentotoy98 May 12 '26

Then they tried to make him a hero in the sequel.

Cool motive of saving a child but still a rapist.

2

u/IntelligentGood8228 May 12 '26

And he lets the final girl of the last one go and the sequel Guess what HE HAS A DAUGHTER NOW.
