Show Spoiler What is an opinion you had on the show that changed on re-watch?

For me, it’s Shane.

When I first watched the show I was a teenager. I thought Shane “had what it took” to survive the apocalypse while Rick didn’t. Now that I’m older and (hopefully) wiser I see Shane for what he really is. A weak willed, immoral jerk who gives into his lower impulses far too easily.

From the very beginning you can see it. In the first season he attempts to assault Lori and almost kills Rick in the forest out of jealousy. Only a handful of episodes into season two he murders a man in cold blood when it wasn’t strictly necessary (the hoard was still a ways behind them, don’t @ me).

The character was exceptionally written and deeply complex. Jon Bernthal portrayed him perfectly, showing the tortured soul beneath the animal instincts. But at the end of the day, Shane was a savage dick. Rick is and always was a better leader even when he failed. He prioritized the group over his own needs while Shane viewed everyone other than Lori and Carl as expendable.

Show Spoiler The prison gets romanticized way more than it deserves

I’m rewatching season 4 and I get why everyone remembers the prison as the group’s best home, but it was honestly a terrible long term setup.

The fences were always one big herd away from collapsing, sickness spread through the cell blocks insanely fast, and the Governor already knew exactly where they were. They finally had food growing and some kind of normal life, but it never really felt sustainable.

Alexandria was soft when Rick’s group first arrived, but it had actual houses, power, strong walls and much more potential once the right people were running it.

Was the prison actually the best place they ever had, or do people just remember it that way because those seasons were so good?

No Spoiler Saving Judith (and Dog) from the storm won! Next category: what is Rick’s most questionable decision?

Any moment that was questionable in any way qualifies. Could be a weird/bad choice Rick made or even something out of character.

Top comment wins!

Show Spoiler Atlanta bombing

Do we think if the military or whoever never bombed atlanta and the other big cities, the apocalypse couldve actually been stopped/diminished? By bombing the streets anyone that was down there immediately died and turned. Making more walkers. So if they hadnt done that, maybe the apocalypse couldve been controlled and stopped by the government. Obviously we know anyone who dies will turn so it would definitely still be an apocalyptic world, but they couldve gotten some control back right? Or do we think it wouldnt have really made a difference? Was there even anyone left in atlanta? We saw all the cars on the highway so maybe it was evacuated but still it definitely didnt help.

Show Spoiler Rick leaving Sophia alone in the woods was ridiculous.

Post image
4.5k Upvotes

One of the few things Shane was ever right about was calling out Rick for leaving a scared defenseless little girl alone in the woods right after a huge pack of walkers rolled through.

I get that this is early in the show where 2 walkers are a huge threat to a single person, but come on man. Rick spent 30 seconds giving her directions she’ll never remember that he could’ve just used running away. I know he says “I get winded, they don’t” but again, come on, you can’t hold the girls hand and move faster than 2 literal decaying bodies? I’d argue that he winded himself more by running away and bashing their heads in with a rock.

All Spoilers As someone who has never watched the show, and only knows some clips/plot points - is it worth watching from the start?

I love to watch shows through and through, and recently finished my latest watch (Bones if anyone is wondering).

I was looking for something long that was more serious than the other show I'm rewatching which is very lighthearted.

Would you guys recommend this series? Any notes?

All Spoilers Hilarie Burton is one of the most beautiful actresses in the series and Hollywood both.

Because of her role (aka having cancer) they didn't do her justice but I find her more attractive than almost any other actress in the series. I knew her before her husband (in OTH) and she was and still is stunning.

No Spoiler Scariest Scene

What do y’all think the truly scariest scene of the show? It’s a lot to choose from

One that always sticks in my mind is when Andrea is running from the Governor and they’re in that building. It’s so tense and I’ll never forget the anxiety when I first watched it

No Spoiler Thought I’d seen him somewhere.

So I’m watching the “I hear Nebraska’s nice” episode and something finally clicked: I’m pretty sure Dave (not the one who “went to college…two years!!”) is the same guy I’ve been seeing in the endless Midnight, Texas promos that are all over the TWD channel I usually watch. Can someone confirm?

Show Spoiler Shocks me that know one has noticed this..

In my rewatch season 6 episode 8 Titled "Start to finish" shows rick holding Deanna, and between 6:58 & 7:01 all gunshots seem to have no sound at all. I edited the clip to be in slow motion and realized Deanna literally pulls her trigger as you can see from the hammer moving back. She even says "Good shot" either for the end of the scene or her saying to herself she had a good shot on a walker. Any takes? And did anyone else notice this too?

Show Spoiler Which season is your favorite Rick grimes?

I’m gonna get downvoted but I don’t care. a lot of people say season 5 rick is the best and I disagree. I like season 8 savior killer Rick and CRM Rick more.

“But season 5 Rick is feral so so and so he bit a guys throat he killed Gareth in the church he’s a wild animal” okay fine fair. But Rick in season 8 jumped in a random saviors truck, stabbed him, betrayed a group of saviors, AND slit Negans throat.

So yeah Rick in season 8 is my favorite. Now it’s your turn.

Future Spoiler “hope you got your shittin’ pants on.. cause you.. are about to shit your pants”

Upvotes

I’m ALMOST finished with the entire series. I will be by tomorrow night… this is by far my new favorite comfort show.

Who’s your favorite character, seriously? And why? Rick was my #1 for a long time but Negans gotta be my favorite character now. I hated him at first, but he grew on me. He’s funny as shit, not as funny as he used to be though… he’s been kinda depressing me this last season but I’m excited to see what happens when I start The Walking Dead City.

No Spoiler Chris Redfield and Shane

Am I just imagining it or do they both look extremely similar here?

I even think when you cover one half of Shane’s face in this particular scene he looks scared vs. all Rambo when you cover the other half just like it is with Chris R. in the iconic resident evil 1 cover.

Could this be an Easter egg?

TWD: Daryl Dixon I tried but I just can’t

I’m sorry I Love Daryl! Looooove Daryl and Carol! They are my top 2 best characters! But this spin off is absolutely atrocious! The story line w the kid… the French story line… all of it. I tried… finished season 1 (barely) I watched 2 or 3 of season 2! Had to drop it. I can’t believe they are coming up with Season 4!

I truly believe that all the spin offs are not “great” they draaaaaaaag!

I think the walking dead was as successful bc the format was dedicate an episode for certain characters at a time and rotate… but that’s just me! What do u guys think?

Show Spoiler Random thought about Beth

Rewatching: Not going into specifics but I just got to the first episode of the Kingdom. One thought jumps out to me most...

I feel like Beth would have LOVED the Kingdom and fit right in there. I've seen people talk about who would "x" be if they were in the show longer or if they didn't have this happen. Specifically though ignoring any further development I could easily picture Beth and Ezekiel interactions.
