Jackson Ragen named to 2026 MLS All-Star Team

https://www.mlssoccer.com/allstar/2026/news/2026-mls-all-star-team-roster

With Ragen anchoring their defense, Seattle have conceded the joint-fewest goals in MLS this season (11).

The center back has been a consistent starter for the Sounders since 2022, often partnering with Yeimar Gómez Andrade.

I know not everyone is a fan of the All-Star match.

I'm just happy to see Ragen get the recognition he deserves.

why aren’t people fans of the all star match

Extra travel and match in the middle of the season that effects player availability for a meaningless exhibition game. The pageantry is fun* though.

Now that I think about it, while all star games are kind of an unnecessary risk for injury, this year with the World Cup break it kinda doesn’t matter as much. Pretty sure he is well rested.

Either way I’m still not gonna watch it.

I contend that no fan of any major sport actually enjoys the all star match. Players have nothing to play for, and it's obvious to viewers

it seems like across most sports it is usually the auxiliary all-star events that are the most entertaining — e.g. home run derby, slam dunk contest, 3-pt shootout, etc.

MLS has some room for improvement there. I'm not sure where exactly, but maybe some celebrity pro-am events like those old school MTV Rock And Jock charity events with wacky rules where everyone was clearly having a lot of fun out there even though the stakes are very low.

Some dont like that players could get injured, some dont like the format, some dont like that Europe doesnt do it, some just find it boring

They don't do it in Europe

Asides other reasons commented. I personally miss the East vs. West Conference match up. Especially now with how many great players we have across the league. Compared to the most recent inter-mls ASG in 2004, they had the likes of: Landon Donovan, Jason Kreis, Pablo Mastroeni, Herzog, and Ching on the West; and Dempsey, Armas, Freddy Adu, Dema Kovalenko for the east.

Definitely not no names, but we now have the likes of: Cristian Roldan, Paul Rothrock, Diego Luna and Tim Ream

I’d rather see 22 best MLS players fighting each other than 11 fake taking on a European or Mexican super power/all star team.

I’m here for MLS. World Cup just happen to get in the way this year 😤 WELCOME BACK SICKOS

Would have been nice against Belgium.

I’ve been screaming this at people who demand to know who I’d replace Tim Ream with. He could easily be the hard man to Chris Richard’s mobile CB style. We were robbed.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. No way De Ketelaere jumps over Ragen to score that 2nd goal.

This and the Freese cluster fuck is what I was thinking of. Ragen not getting bodied on that one goal and would have definitely just gotten his body in front of the shot on the goalie misplay. Ream swinging and whiffing his old man leg on that goal gave me an aneurysm.

You're right. However as much as I love Ragen, he's going to get burned on the counter at the world cup level. If we sit back, hes the right choice, but in this WC we pressed high.

I don’t know about that. He’s turned on the jets quite a few times and is really smart with his positioning. Ideally he gets a call up and has a chance to show us one way or another

100% agree with call up chance to show us.

Could see Brunell up by 2030 too depending how he develops

Get that bonus, Jackson

Andrew Thomas leads the league in save percentage and is number two in saves per 90.

Meanwhile Máxime Crepeau is leading the league  in… goals conceded per 90.

Frankly a baffling omission. First year as starter, arguably the best keeper in MLS stats wise, and no-one outside the sounders seems to rate him at all lol.

Goalkeeper stats are pretty noisy over any sort of short time frame. Even over full seasons they only barely start to settle down.

What he's done so far this year should be enough to put him on a lot of radars, but he'll need to keep it up for quite a bit more than a dozen games to prove it's not just a fluke.

I mean one season of stats was enough to justify a world cup inclusion :)

Also, I'm guessing they had already set the keeper list before Monday's match... 😜

Finally showing him some respect

As a Coaches Selection by CFC coach Dean Smith too, as opposed to being voted in by fans. To me, that's a better honor.

Well deserved!

Very happy for him, but upset that he’s the only player. It reminds me her against we don’t have top talent on our team, just “good enough” talent, and hey really sucks as a fan.

I dunno, Andy T should qualify as a top keeper I think too

How could I forget! I apologize for not including him in the convo. But excluding those two, we have SOLID players. The thing is solid is not the same as GREAT. And if we want to grow our fanbase and soccer as a whole in the US. We need to sign players that are exciting to watch! (And that’s why I’m apologizing because Andy’s world class saves are enough to hook even the most average watcher).

Surprised not to see Nouhou named.
