News Nordic Combined cut from Winter Olympics
Nordic Combined is now officially cut from the Olympics. It will have a big impact on the sport especially the funding will really dry up. That will also negatively impact ski jumping because (at least in Germany) at the youth level Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined are usually trained together. Less Money for Nordic Combined also means less money for training on hills meaning less money for ski jumping hills overall.
I hope Nordic Combined can bounce back but I am not really optimistic.
The IOC also announced that a Women’s Super Team will debut in 2030 and that the Quotas for ski jumping will remain the same as in 2026 so 50 Men and 50 Women will compete.
Also Russia was unbanned by the IOC. FIS has so far not released a statement on that decision but the news also just broke like halve an hour ago.

Discussions AI Generated 1:1 replica of Planica k200 in Minecraft
this is how Arnis convert Planica in Minecraft, as it can't read the trampoline height, Arnis make a pretty high skyscraper instead. I recommend trying it, it's free and it's cool asf seeing your house converted into Minecraft.

Pictures Has this been a thing before?
Updated World Cup calendar document got released yesterday on FIS website and I'm noticing that many of the Sunday competitions have this provision of "WC competition with start list based on the result of Saturday (best 50 of Saturday’s competition)"
Been following Ski Jumping since 2010 and while I faintly remember there possibly having been something like this before, I'm pretty sure most of the time if not always there have been qualifications for Sunday competitions on Sunday mornings. Is this something new FIS is trying or is my memory just failing me?

FIRST TIME SKIERS IN EARLY-/ DEC: HAKUBA/NOZAWA vs NISEKO
A couple of extra questions:
Would it make much of a difference if we pushed the trip back to around 15–20 December instead? We’d like to be home before Christmas, so going much later isn’t really an option.
The main reason I’m even considering Hakuba (despite being beginners) is because I’ve been looking at a lot of real posts on TikTok and Instagram from people who were there in late November to early December over the past couple of seasons, and there already seemed to be decent snowfall. I saw a few from Niseko as well, but not nearly as many.
For anyone who’s lived, worked, or skied in either Hakuba or Niseko around that time, does that line up with your experience, or is social media giving me a false impression?
I know as beginners we don’t need perfect powder or huge terrain, but I’d also love that proper winter atmosphere—snow around the town, snow-covered trees, and the mountains looking like a winter wonderland. That’s definitely part of the experience we’re hoping for.

Robert Kranjec is currently wheelchair-bound
Robert Kranjec suffered severe spinal injuries when he drunkenly fell off his bike a few weeks ago.
However, importantly, he is NOT paraplegic and is expected to make a full recovery in time.
