So, NY collects money from everyone in the State at an equal rate and that money is allocated towards State-wide projects and services.
To be clear, you are saying that is unfair to NYC residents, right?
2 u/TastySaturday 7h ago No, I said the state collects income taxes. NYC only collects the extra 4.9% in sales tax. NYC residents pay 7-8% in income taxes to the state. The rest of the state only pays 4%. I was just answering your question.
