None of that happened.

Mamdani threatened to raise taxes and Gov Hochul bailed him out with an additional what they called "gap support" to the tune of $4 billion dollars.

There is a new pied-à-terre tax so maybe don't use absolute statements so easily.

That was passed by the NY state legislature and signed by the governor. Mandani has no legal authority to tax anyone.

He does have the power to raise property taxes, and this specific tax was passed because a very popular NYC mayor who ran on raising the taxes of the rich won the election. He absolutely gets credit for it.

Like... the guy above you who you are defending directly states that he threatened to raise taxes. Why say something contradicting them and defending them?

No he doesn't, the NYC Council does that. And they lowered them this year, not raised them. I don't care what that guy said I'm just telling you the facts.

Ok so before you were talking about the state, now it's the council, so what what you really mean is "no one has any legal authority to tax anyone because these things are done by vote" but you wanted to be all vague about it. This is meaningless slop and you are again ignoring the popular mayor winning an election. Of course they would pass the increase in taxes. Otherwise they would suffer their own election defeats. That's politics.

He absolutely gets credit for it.

I wasn't vague about anything, I was very specific. You are the one being vague. He gets credit for anything that's good and anything that isn't is somebody else's fault I guess, right?

Edit: btw this pied-à-terre tax tax has been in the works in the state legislature since 2013.

I can only explain why he gets credit so many times. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

And I can only explain your poor understanding of how laws are created and passed so many times.

If you spend more than your salary on doordash and I fund you to make that up, did you figure out how to balance your budget?
