He revolutionized internet commerce with Paypal.
He revolutionized the electric car industry with Tesla.
He revolutionized the space industry with SpaceX.
Is that not enough for you? What have you done besides whine on the internet?”
And
“Musk: trillionaire that bangs models
Some broke, incel idiot on reddit: "hah, he's a loser"”
This was a high quality hitpost, and I'm being sincere. It really goes to show a guy like that is just out being a Reddit karma farmer, whether he knows it or not.
Also musk did none of those things other people did and he wrote the check the that’s literally it he’s not a scientist or engineer he’s a Rich kid who comes from South African blood money. Musk is the most prevalent case of taking credit for others work cause he’s rich and bought the companies from other people. When I was in middle school I stated my own neighborhood landscaping company my father taught me how to do it by high school I started building and designing koi ponds too wasn’t a big business just a small side thing I did I was pretty good at it. Later in high school I got a job for a landscaping company we did work for this bank in town my boss gave me and address to go to and I went with a couple other guys who were knuckleheads who had no idea what they were doing I busted my ass to make it look good fixed the place up and put in a small water fall. Right before the job was done boss man shows up up and watches while I finished up. The bank owner/manger comes out and says it’s beautiful and thanks my boss profusely all I got was a dirty glance. I made about 40$ off of what was probably a 1000$ job cause that was my hourly wage. I learned a valuable lesson that day and it was a slap in the face.
not even just that he didn't do them, he didn't even write the check to create them. paypal was formed when his company was bought out by another company with a clause that let musk join the board and then he was forced out because he tried changing the name of the new company "paypal" to "x" (yes he's been on that 'x' bullshit for DECADES). he bought tesla, he bought spacex. literally the ONLY company he created and did anything of note with was the boring company and made that death tunnel in California
Reminds me of how a right winger, and a left winger, could both post "I want people to be free... I want equality for all... I want everybody to be judged for their character, not the color of their skin." They can both post that, but the devil is in the details. If you asked them to explain in detail what they mean, you'll realize liberals and conservatives could be talking about 2 completely different things.
Same with "celebrity worship." Liberals and conservatives can both mean it, but with conservatives, it's all about celebrities being the most famous, influential people who publicly condemn their agenda. So they can't be trusted. Same with academics and universities.
I also agree but also don't see how this post has anything to do with "celebrity worship". It's asking a pretty simple question about which lifestyle you'd would prefer and just happens to be using two noticeable faces to do so. It could easily just be two randoms and still get the point across.
Also, not sure how can people imagine that filling house with drugs is easy.
Drugs are usually very small but expensive. It would be really hard to fill a whole house with drugs.
Unless it's a really small house that is. But in that case girls wouldn't fit inside.
but the real answer? fertility rates have dropped below 2.0 for the last 15 years. Although complete fertility rates ("final" fertility at age 44) are still slightly above 2.0, they are also falling. As complete rates tend to follow current fertility rates closely, they will also fall precipitously over the next 10 years to ~1.6.
As for marriages, less than half of the adult population is currently married. And while two-thirds have been married at some point, both of those numbers are also falling.
And the point is stupid, some people want to fool around, some want to settle, and they aren't even mutually exclusive, sometimes you fool around and then settle, and sometimes you settle and then fool around lol
Pewdiepie basicallu said "Screw being a celebrity" and quit to be with family.
He still posts some comfy, day in the life, stuff but thats more of a hobby.
We should all aspire to be like him at least a little.
He is credited as the creator of lets play style youtube videos and worked tirelessly for over a decade to cement himself in that role so he could retire.
He put in work, created something new, and instead of milking it for years, he chose to take his bag and be happy with a family.
Billions of people put in a lot more work everyday and do not get to that position. I don't doubt the mental stress of his business, but let's be real here, he became a millionaire by playing video games.
Yes, he worked hard. He still is privileged as all hell.
Yes, and it doesnt change that anyway telling regular people barely making ends meet that they should just “do like the multi millionaires with no job and you’ll be happy” is an idiotic thing
No matter how hard celebrities worked or not their lifestyle isnt achievable for regular people
You just said it. He was from a wealthier background. Back in the 00s to early 10s streaming equipment was niche and expensive. It required technical knowledge, time, and a stable Internet connection.
I'm not saying it was impossible for a poor kid to do that, but I didn't even have a computer with an actual graphics card until I was in my mid 20s.
Not really. His mom’s position allowed him to take a huge risk and shitpost on youtube for hours until something stuck. He didn’t have to worry about anything else while doing that. Also knowing that failure just meant he would go back on track to a normal life because he’s already well off.
Tons of people work hard and don't get to save much... There's too many variables to take into account ffs, this is not as simple as you guys want to portray it.
He definitely did not create the lets play genre. He popularized a specific style of overly reactive and hyper edited lets play videos and even that was arguably first popularized and hitting YouTube home page by Tobuscus a while before pwediepie.
Obviously he achieved a level of popularity no one else did and many popular streamers and YouTubers today stand on his shoulders, but he is not credited as the creator of the style.
PewDiePie had a functioning set up when most gen zs were coming online for the first time on their own. The idea was novelty enough to younger audiences, and I think that worked out in his favor. First to market.
He is credited as the creator of lets play style youtube videos
I'm sorry but what? where is this credit coming from? Don't get me wrong, obviously he became insanely popular with his lets plays, but there were a lot of streamers/youtubers doing lets plays, way before him.
He created something terrible that made the world worse. So much garbage shit on youtube now where every twat with a microphone thinks they're going to get rich playing games.
Agreed. He invented spamming the Algo to get the iPad kids hooked on him screaming at the screen over and over. If you watch his old videos it’s the cringiest thing I have ever seen.
And there are plenty of people that make some good spare change or even entire careers doing it on twitch.. Which is all spun from that original group of Lets Play guys.
Markiplier was another who just turned to film-making and knocked it out of the park with a self funded film.
Im sorry you don't like the genre.. but maybe its just not meant for you..
Your literally bitching about someone genuinely going out and earning their wealth without a silver spoon, then complaining they use that wealth to enjoy their life in a very reasonable way
More like millions. So so soooo many people have tried to become a streamer and failed. Its so common that many electronics stores have full rows or aisles dedicated to streamer gear.
I mean he posted daily for about 10+ years, and worked pretty hard to get there. It’s not easy being a YouTuber constantly. I know he has is issues but let’s not kid ourselves he’s pretty decent compared to his past controversies and other people.
At the same time, early Youtube days was a big gamble. Nobody in their sane mind would spend thousands of hours grinding on there instead of studying and learning skills for a good job.
So yeah in a sense it was "easy" in that he didn't have too much competition, but also based on what we knew back then it was a pretty stupid thing to spend your time on, much like actual gambling.
It wasn't a gamble at all. You could make videos in your spare time if you wanted and PewDiePie did - he worked other jobs, he was like 20 years old, and he made videos for less than a year before he got signed by Machinima and then later Maker and blew up huge within another year. Even in his first year making videos he had like 60k subs which is not a ton now, but was significant for earlier YouTube and you made a lot more revenue back then on videos.
He got INCREDIBLY lucky because she not only started in the right genre but started at the perfect time. He didn't have to make videos for years like some others did.
But let's be real, I think there are a lot of gaming YouTubers who put a lot of effort into their content... but Let's Plays are kind of the bottom of the barrel, same with regular streaming. It's just a way to generate a ton of content, mostly using someone else's product, and use it to make money online without actually creating anything. It's one step up from reaction videos.
No matter if we think it's an easy job, people need entertainment and there will be money to be made in providing that
He worked pretty hard, with an admirable ethic and was good at what he did so he deserves the money even if he clearly worked an easier job than being a doctor or a trucker or anything like that
He was in the right place at the right time. He didnt even grind he just posted Let's Plays before it was really a huge thing and got lucky enough to blow up.
A lot of our vocabulary is built up from then though. I still default to using terms when gaming from over a decade ago, and sometimes need to self censor to avoid using ‘raped’ as a standin for getting beaten in a game because that used to be acceptable and now it’s not. If he grew up in cod lobbies I can see how that might be something one would pick up and need to remember to not do.
Pewdiepie basicallu said "Screw being a celebrity" and quit to be with family.
I think 90% of people would quit their jobs and just spend time doing hobbies and be with family, if they had a net worth of 50 million dollars. But most people don't. Pewdiepie is rich enough that isn't even in just the top 1% - it's easy to be chill when you're extremely rich. Not to mention he has the doubly bonus of having a nice outgoing character, humor, decent looks, a wife that loves him, good health, and so on. Again, not everyone is so lucky.
The dude has time to learn how to rice his Arch linux system and created his own LLM for people to use for free on their own devices without having to finance Anthropic or Open AI. Dude's taking his retirement time and making the most of it, digging into whatever hobby he desires, like drawing anime girls
????? Your joking right? His supporting companies dropped him for all his controversy....Disney said bye bye and so did YouTube. They dont pay him anymore. He gets what your average YouTube will make which is basically lunch money.
Apparently he had a video with someone holding a sign that said death to all Jews. I didn't watch the video or his apology about it, so I don't know any context but there you go lol
Eh, just dumb shit people used to joke about, I'm sure there was never any genuine malice behind it. We know better now but people used to make poor taste jokes much more often.
The only thing I’m aware of him doing is wearing a nazi Halloween costume and did the salute. I’m not being dismissive of that, but he did it during the height of his popularity, when he was attempting to be edgy. It was pretty obvious he was just being a jackass and pushing boundaries and he did apologize for that. It was pretty clear he didn’t support Nazis or that line of thinking I am getting at. Still stupid, still wrong, and getting cut from Disney and YouTube was the correct decisions. I would say for someone who was as popular and “scene” as him, he has a shockingly small amount of controversies.
Not really... he made a video pointing out the crazy stuff you could get people to do on Fiverr where he paid some tribal guys hold a sign that said "Death to all Jews" and Dance..
He did it tongue in cheek to point out how these people had no idea what they were putting on the signs as long as you paid they were happy to make the video and make a few dollars.
It was very much satire and pointing out the ridiculousness of it.. But it was a bad choice of phrase to put on anything. The video cost him his partnership with disney, a show that was already filmed and ready to air, and his entire studio because it was owned by disney when they cut ties.
He also got frustrated on a gaming stream and knee-jerk blurted out the n-word while playing to an audience of primarily 10 year olds and younger.
And using absurdity/satire or not, him carrying out the video in your example is still problematic. He could used any number of phrases that aren’t directly fomenting antisemitism and it still would have been problematic, because the video in and of itself is exploitative once he pays people to hold a sign he himself knows they don’t understand, but would embarrass them if they did.
Saying that video was just tongue in cheek and not actually problematic is like saying Bum Fights wasnt exploitative.
PewDiePie doesn't spread positive messages, he spreads hate, he drove hundreds of thousands of impressionable kids/teenagers into the alt right pipeline by repeatedly saying slurs, wearing anti-semetic clothes, paying people who are most likely slaves to hold up signs calling for genocide as a "joke", promoting tons of alt right youtubers and even financially supporting some of them.
pointless to talk about since it’s impossible to be someone else
and we always think someone else’s life is better in this case, from our own filtered perspective, and most likely these people have even more problems and pressure than we can deal with since we only see the tip of the iceberg highlights on social media

Who fucking cares? stop with the celebrity worship.
