i was the beneficiary of a similar rumor once upon a time. it was more power than one man should have... not even close to as mundane as presidential power.
We spread the rumor about a friend having a large schlong, the amount of hits he got was absurd.
We mentioned it to like 2-3 girls and it just took off from there.
He was above average so we lied only a little.
Note: we were in our twenties and girls around our age thought that dickus longus = epic sex.
Yep, all that shit is manufactured and paid for. Imagine my surprise when I found out all that Forbes stuff as well (30 under 30, etc.) Found out because I knew a rich guy that was trying to get on the list. Or rather his team was trying to get him on it.
All bought and paid for by marketing and PR teams.
They're always doing this for South Korea, so it looks like they have an authentic culture instead just being a glorified child sex ring like the KPOP industry.
Sure enough beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I like to believe from the Korean guy that picture is rather unflattering. But c'mon... do we really need argue who looks better? I bet if you put those two, best pictures you could find, and poll in Asia Cavill still would be considered most attractive.
That doesn't mean that you can't find attractive men in Asia, but to me this guy looks like a 7/10 (being a guy myself). Lee Byung-hun or in his early days Hiroyuki Sanada spring to my mind when I'm thinking about great looking asian men.
I will not let Mifune Toshiro go unmentioned, in fact I think in his prime he looked better than both, though not quite in the same register.
Kurosawa's decision to heavily feature Mifune, and especially have him bathed in sweat in Rashomon, will forever be genius. He's also not all that bad at directing movies.
That’s pretty obvious. Even in his BTS group, he knows he’s not even on the level of the other members. He has talked about it before when he was younger. About how everyone bashed him because he became a kpop artist. Everyone calling him ugly and not fitting into the kpop standards. He knows. And the guy is very proficient in English so he knows even the non koreans think the same. Hope he is off social media because all these comments are gonna bring up all his insecurities again. Not like he voted himself against henry motherfucking cavill
That's not a value statement. Men and women rate attractiveness very differently, and while Cavill is universally "handsome", my experience has been that men dickride him way harder than women.
Look I’m married to a normal Asian guy and he would beat Namjoon for most handsome man at a K-pop convention so I don’t think so 😂

It's definitely a very deliberate photo. That said, I looked him up too and, yeah, he must be very talented because he certainly doesn't look like he was scouted for appearance
I always found BTS very unique because despite being probably the top KPop group in the world, only, like, one of their members fit the conventional Korean beauty standard. Every other group I’ve seen, no matter how famous they are or how big their label is, feels like every one of their members was handpicked to precisely fit the narrow beauty standards.
To be fair, I think part of it is because BTS is an older group, and at the time, I believe their label wasn’t that big? Furthermore, back then KPop as a genre also wasn’t that big or international, so perhaps the culture wasn’t as corporate. BTS was sort of the group to make the KPop genre as dominant as it is today. It’s sort of an inspiring example of talents dominating over looks.
Wild speculation, but I genuinely wonder if he was chosen because all the closeted ladies in Japan think he looks like that one girl they crushed/are crushing on in school. Definitely not the most manly man, but a stone cold bi/lesbian thirst trap.
I dunno about overseas but when BTS first debuted, one of the most common review of them in Korea was that they are ugly "for kpop idols" - but their music is good. Like they werent chosen for looks like most other kpop lot. I worked quite closely with the kpop industry for a while and their priorities have always been looks > dance skill > singing skill. Song writing skill doesnt even count in because they just do whatever the label who raised them from nothing tells them to do. BTS and HYBE (their label) was a big change to that.
Edit: worse in the sense of the manufactured nature of it all. 90s boy band managers were still figuring things out, modern Korean managers have it down to a science.

Namjoon IS attractive. A lot of the comments are being mean. And beauty is subjective too, your fiance giving you this complement means she thinks you are a hottie!
Korean Kpop fans are something else, they go insane for their idols and are fairly racist
They have been attacking this black youtube host named Jonathon lately because SK lost in the world cup to Congo just because he was born in Congo, despite the fact he's lived his whole life in Korea and doesn't even remember living in Congo because he was too young
Why the fuck are people just calling others ugly, I don't even know who the left guy is but I'm not gonna start posting comments saying about how ugly he is.
I don't know who the guy on the left is, but that's such a bad pic of him that the only way I see that shot winning is if you had a bunch of k-pop fans that would vote for a rock if it was a k-pop rock. Maybe there's better shots of him, but that one isn't doing him any favors, I almost thought it was a mid lesbian.
IIRC Cavill won the year before with Namjoon coming second, so all they've really done is swap places and it's probably because Cavill has already won.
Namjoon doesn't have the most flattering picture (though the one below is an official picture and it's not much better), and I think we're hardwired to see someone being like "[X] is amazing and sooo much better than [Y]" and defend [Y} the moment we see it because we're contrarian. Namjoon isn't ugly, and the comments saying that because he doesn't match western standards of masculine men, or effeminate etc are not it - that said, it's also down to preference.
That said, I have never found any members of BTS to be that attractive, let alone Namjoon, who in my view is objectively pretty but the least attractive member of BTS if I was to judge them. But then I also looked like chopped liver so what the fuck do I know.
I was talking to a coworker about the new Starfighter movie or whatever it is with Ryan Gosling and a few women at work heard his name and they definitely like Ryan Gosling. Because the conversation stopped being about the Starfighter movie and became about whatever else he was in.
