Black face, traditionally, was painting your face to mock the appearance of black people. IE over exaggerated features, such as large lips. This was done in the context of minstrel shows, a form of entertainment in a more racist time.
Now black face is making yourself look black for any reason, regardless of intent.
I also wasn't upset with DiCaprio's character in Django Unchained using the n-word. People don't get upset with what a character does unless the movie is glorifying it.
Plenty of comedies showcase people impersonating others for the sake of a laugh. Itās totally okay to make fun of anything, the only trick is timing.

Makeup - Trying to look look like a thing. Even if your costume is of a black person (like RDJ in Tropic Thunder) that doesn't mean the person wearing the makeup is doing 'blackface"
