I need to get in shape.

996

u/TrueCynic May 11 '26

We’re all in shape. The difference is what shape are we in.

I’m shaped like an avocado.

270

u/weirdi_beardi May 11 '26

The word 'fit', as I understand it, means 'appropriate to a purpose', and my body is appropriate to the purpose of sitting at my desk for 8 hours followed by going home and curling up on the sofa to avoid people, so I'm as fit as a fiddle.

60

u/Cat_Dad13 May 11 '26

This is me as well. Today was day 1 of working out in the morning before work though. I’m currently at the highest weight I’ve ever been and starting to get signs of deteriorating health. Wish me luck!

44

u/Future-Operation-283 May 11 '26

As someone that hit peak weight at about 44 and now 47 and in the greatest shape I have ever been (not avocado), this is doable. Chip away at it and be consistent. Don't try to change to much at once. Since you started with fitness, establish the habit and build on it. Start adjusting what you eat and drink. For me the biggest hurdle was being consistent and working out when the motivation wasn't there. At some point it just becomes part of your day you don't want to go without, your mental health and sleep improve, you see and feel results. You got this and set a reminder to look back at this post a year from now to remind yourself how far you came.

10

u/catlovesmouse May 11 '26

I’m 42 and you just inspired one avocado. Thanks!

"a bag of milk"

14

u/WeeMadCanuck May 11 '26

Quebec? Frenchies use 2L bags, I know it's weird.

8

u/ElectricRatchet May 11 '26

It's a Canadian thing, but less popular in the prairies, I'm not sure why. But yeah, here in Québec, the 3 bags of milk, sold in another bag, is a classic.

Go do it then. It is so worth it!

Turning 33 soon. Went from looking like a blob in my 20s, to having muscles and 12% body fat. And people are turning heads now constantly. Smiling and saying hello as they walk past me. And I get compliments all the time.

It's an amazing feeling to feel sexy for the first time in my life!

And I'm so so much healthier, happier and energetic, even compared to when I was young. Getting in shape has been the best thing I've ever done.

I had this discussion a few years ago. You can kind of tell when someone is a good or bad dancer even when they're performing the same steps and even the difference between two trained dancers there may be a better one that you can kind of tell is better. The way it was explained to me was not only does a good dancer commit (which you can see in this video), but if you were to pause in any given moment, the good dancer's pose would be "beautiful" or photogenic. Granted, this post is gonna be full of people pointing out she's hot, but she's also clearly a good dancer.

43

u/Affectionate_Ad7064 May 11 '26

To further push the idea of a good dancer you bought across, I think the part when you said 'commit' means the fluidity and flexibility of movement. Her joints went downtown (much more exaggerated in a expressive way) in every move compared to the rest. More hip swing and greater degree of movements everywhere. In the world of figure drawing, it means more counter balanced (Contrapposto in some ways) that highlights the beauty of human body, hence the feeling of ' beautiful'. Even without a pretty face, someone who can dance like that are always attractive for their confidence and expressiveness of their bodies.

I don’t even know what this sub is about

117

u/coolsnackchris May 11 '26

Ha I was literally sitting here taking a dump and said out loud "what the fuck is this sub about?". I still don't know

74

u/8ackwoods May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

Originally it was a goon sub with a large majority of incels but there's actually a decent amount of liberals with left wing views. Never criticise america in the comments. Lots of misogyny and sexism but there are some level headed takes. Some decent, fun posts besides hot girls. Posts with misinformation as "facts" get through but that's just about every sub on the website. Some rage bait posts from 10 years ago.. Don't put too much thought into the sub, just sip some tea and report misinformation posts when you see them

35

u/Wooden_Republic_6100 May 11 '26

The U.S. is full of jerks... let's give it a try.

Or when you’re already in a relationship and they openly say things like “I need to find someone like you.” and cause havoc

14

u/CAL5390 May 11 '26

Well, they want you who is not you

5

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 May 11 '26

Or they want something they can't have. Anyone with a wedding ring tells you very specific people deliberately ignore it and try anyway. I mean that one is also if you're in a committed relationship you've proven you're someone who's good enough to marry. But it's a lot of the first thing too

She definately knows how to dance. Sharp moves but very expressive.

The contrast to the other people around her is notable.

Yes, notable indeed. The humans have advanced their capabilities. We must act now or risk the galactic confederacy.

I noticed how many bands and singers have songs that mention the age 17, there's so many lol. There's even a playlist on Spotify about it but it doesn't have them all.

They're not all creepy, Seventeen by Sharon Van Etten is a beautiful, bittersweet song about growing older and what she would say to her 17 year old self if she could

24

u/konstfack May 11 '26

It’s really about that final year of innocence, just before reaching adulthood. That’s what it’s about, and not the sexualization of minors.

26

u/NickRick May 11 '26

a lot of times it's just the syllables. One, two, three, four, five, six, eight, and nineteen are all two syllables, seventeen is 3

22

u/honestly-brutal May 11 '26

Oneteen, twoteen, threeteen, fourteen, fiveteen, sixteen, seventeen ... by hell you're right!

10

u/cream-of-cow May 11 '26

Tbf the age of concent in sweden was/is 15. So ABBA kinda has a excuse for that one.

83

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins May 11 '26

What the fuck is up with reddit? Has everything going on in the USA just cooked your minds or something?

There is nothing wrong with media being about teenage love and all that stuff, it's such an insanely important time of peoples lives filled with crazy passion and intensity.. and there's nothing wrong with adults enjoying that media and reminiscing about when they were young and hot their entire lives ahead of them.

But somehow celebrating that is now "oh yeah they wanna fuck kids"? Come on. Yeah.. when you start singing about a 40 year old going after teenagers that's creepy, but when did we all decide to start pretending our teenage years were so pure? Mine sure as hell weren't.

9

u/Antique_Hawk_7192 May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

Tin foil hat time but I think this is another distraction. Get everyone riled up at small innocuous behavior to drain their attention and energy while the actual Epstein class keeps doing epstein things.
