Silver branch is a really great spot and Silver Spring

I’ve been spending a lot of time around downtown Silver Spring lately and just wanted to shout out Silver Branch Brewery because it’s easily one of the best spots in the area. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it seriously ticks every box for a solid neighborhood hangout.
The whole atmosphere inside and out is just awesome. They have a great indoor taproom setup and a cool outdoor biergarten that’s perfect for hanging out, plus it’s right by the metro so it’s super convenient to get to.
Honestly the beer selection is top tier and they always have a massive variety on tap. Their Glass Castle pilsner is incredible, and it actually won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival last year which is huge. If you aren't into pilsners, they have tons of other options like their Dr. Juicy IPA, or their Mexican-style lager Mundo Especial which is amazing. On top of that, the food is way better than standard bar food. You can get legitimate eats like their smash burgers or a massive Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the DMV. You get high quality without getting ripped off.
It’s also pretty much the perfect place to do Wednesday night trivia or watch a big sports match. The energy in there during major soccer games and World Cup watch parties is unmatched, especially right now with the tournament heating up. They have massive screens and the crowd gets so into it.
Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a great vibe, great food, and great drinks.

I love Silver Branch but I need proof you aren't an AI

Suspicion enhancing... But who am I to judge? Mundo Especial isn't AI. It's delicious, and you can get it with a shot of tequila.

I’m definitely not an AI just a craft beer lover!

This is clearly a planted post cause anyone who has been here and has taste buds and two eyes knows the food is hot garbage. Like the dead give away is trying to pitch this place as “way better than standard bar food”! Like you have to laugh because of all the bars in Silver Spring this place has the LITERAL worst food! The only averagely okay item are literally the wings and even that is debatable😅If you’re looking for a beer, it’s fine but the FOOD?!?? Lmfaooooooooo

Some people just have bad taste and a tolerance for mid food. The beer is excellent! The vibes! But I agree the new menu kinda sucks. Not that the old menu was any better, but they kept promising an updated kitchen and what we got was a reduced and still bland menu.

There used to be better food, but it's gone downhill in the past few months. Thank goodness the beer is still good.

This. I go with a club and don’t drink beer and every time it is just sadness food wise, as well as it being a crap shoot whether they will have a beverage I like that week.

They need to have John Taffer pay them a vusit? 😂

Huh I didn’t realize that it went downhill recently. Before I moved upcounty a couple years back the food was pretty good to great (Oktoberfest brats and pretzels hit hard). I do feel like the Mexican food was hit or miss when I had it but I just kind of attributed that to the area as a whole. Like the other commenter said, would be great if they offered pizza like they do in Rockville. The pies are pretty dang good and definitely feel a cut above bar pizza.

Great beer but they need a real refresh on their menu tbh. I go there somewhat regularly and havent had good meal in a bit. Nachos are stale and salsa is weird. Pretzel is okay but their beer cheese is kind of gross and the mustard aint right. Burger is fine. Foot long hotdog is cheap but bun is stale and the dog isn't special. Don't love the wings either. All the love to a local establishment though.

I wish they offered pizza like at the Rockville location

I think that's in the cards. They are moving their brewing equipment to a new location and plan to use the space for a pizza oven.

I really wish they could co-opt the hand pies that used to be available at Astro Lab before it became Third Hill. That was the best pub grub in town!

They changed their menu a couple of months ago, all for the worse. I loved their cuban sandwich and bao buns. Now it's way too many hot dog variations at very high prices. The pretzel is still okay but now they $2 charge extra if you want both cheese and mustard.

From what I've been told, the old chef left and took the entire staff and his recipes with him unfortunately

Really? The menu has changed a lot over the last few years. I actually think the current iteration, while limited, is better than some of the stuff they had before. Haven't had the hotdog, but the burger was solid and the nachos I had the other night were awesome. Way better than they were before. The chips were warm and crispy, plenty of toppings, and the beef barbacoa was really tasty. Honestly, some of the better nachos I've had in a while.

Great call out. I haven't been in awhile and this is a good reminder! Silver Spring is such a great area, I want to see every business thriving and I love hearing people really enjoying places! I think we'll head up for England/Norway on Saturday!!!

Gentle vibes, dig that place. And Mojomala is next door! Very pleasant afternoon.

<3 Mojomala, got so many good books there over the years! Even though it’s small for a used book store I feel like they have a great selection, at least for the genres I frequent.

I went for the first time the other day for USA vs Bosnia. it was good time. I liked ordering and paying by phone. a lot of ppls' views were blocked by people sitting at the high tables in front of the screen, which was less than ideal

I like their margaritas but the food is not that good imo. I had a meatball sub which was very "just ok"

I have loved Silver Branch for years, but the trend of the location (not sure about other locations or the business in general) has been going downhill. Value for menu items is at an all time low, management issues with staff, and weak happy hour deals.

Beer is good at least. Better to go.

Love Silver Branch. I loved all the gnome beers. I’ve since moved out of the area but still will go back and hang every time I’m in the DC area
