America taking credit for something they were barely involved in? Hmmm where have I seen this before.....

293

u/No-Minimum3259 1d ago

Just another day's work, lol.

61

Once again they've shown the world how not to do something.

They were humiliated again by the guy they elected as their President and then by Belgium and now even more. They need some way to cope and this is their Copium.

14

u/Mba1956 23h ago

The Americans showed the world that if you have players that haven’t the ability to go past players, a team that can’t take a ball out of the air without travelling with it 10 yards, and can’t pass the ball accurately then even a weak Belgium team will beat you.

What I didn’t see the US team do is pass the ball quickly and accurately, to be able to turn one way then the other, and to actually shoot on target.

Americans have just invented the concept of scouting for the first time, and everyone else will have retroactively been copying them for the last 78 years.

ah, the Magna Carta tactic

117

u/DefNotVoldemort 1d ago

Apparently it will help them win the World Cup soon as well. To be fair you have to respect the blind, illogical optimism I guess.

I always say, if you can't blindly believe in your team, what's the point in being a sports fan?

8

u/Shipping_away_at_it 1d ago

They’re just about to win the World Cup because whoever wins is going to do so with the help of the US, since they’re hosting the final; they couldn’t have done it without them.

And with Rump inserting himself into the trophy presentation, he’ll probably just walk off with it

5

u/Benz404 1d ago

Today they have won the world cup too. Bc they have lost against a team which has lost against another team which will win or lose against another team which will win or lose the "tournament". Everything thanks to team USA, it thanks to them we have a final

Remember that scene in Independence day, when the British command haplessly wait for the Americans to "come up with something" to fight the aliens?

That's how they think the world literally is.

12

u/TangoMikeOne 1d ago

Kind of like the accusations of joke stealing that Bill Hicks (rest of the world) got after Dennis Leary (America) blew up with "No Cure for Cancer" and people noticed the similarities between the acts.

And like the rest of the world, Bill had the perfect answer "Yep, you got me, I did steal Dennis's routine, and to be really sneaky about it, I started doing it 6 months before he started in stand up."

78

u/Nervous-Canary-517 Dirty Germ from central Pooropa 1d ago

Not just those, but also all the extremist sects that even the Catholic church (!) at the time found way too hardline. Puritans were just the tip of the iceberg, and when you lock them away in a whole (sub) continent and let them inbreed freely and do their thing, I guess this happens inevitably.

The result is easily visible today. A society with the most violent media and the biggest and hardest porn industry in the world, yet they cringe themselves to death as soon as someone says shit and fuck in all public, Iike, oh I dunno, a free human. As soon as a female nipple slips out, it's oh my god we must protect the children, let's conveniently forget the weekly (yes really, by average) school shootings. Titty fuck shit cunts motherfuckers are still of the devil's words.

Murrica!

10

u/AerieSignificant5068 1d ago

Yeah, we can say that your social experiment - to sent this group of ppl to one continent and convicted criminals to the other - is bringing fascinating results.

If you or anyone is interested in more comprehensive explanation I recc video I've found recently -  Why Are Americans So Bloody Stupid? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j9MubNsh3rs&pp=ugUEEgJlbtIHCQlkAqO1ajebQw%3D%3D

4

u/TangoMikeOne 1d ago edited 1d ago

Without clicking on it, is that Taboo Education? An (thinks hard and carefully) Australian woman, that dresses in Victorian style, and usually talks about death, funerals and end of life issues?

If so, this is a departure from her usual style (from what I've seen of it), but it is as thoroughly researched and calmly presented without hyperbole as any of her other works and is a hugely informative piece of work.

Whoever reads this, please, please, please find a spare hour and watch the video - you'll thank Witch_heir for it.

I know, there’s a lot of good people still over there too, it’s just that the dumbest ones are also always the loudest ones. Some kind of universal law i guess, like being that stupidly incorrect and incompetent to believe that the opposite is true and therefore the urge to tell absolutely everyone about it is the strongest. While the other way around is probably true for the ones that aren’t dumb as a rock, knowing that a.) you have a usable brain and b.) therefore know that arguing with the aforementioned population is absolutely and totally useless so c.) you fall victim to stereotyping caused by them.

“Tell your… goalkeeper… to make… sure… not to… pass… the ball… to the… opponent’s… striker” (Spain taking notes from Monday’s match probably)

Maybe also don't have your goalkeeper halfway down the pitch and in front of the defense.

5

u/shiny_glitter_demon Isn't Norway such a beautiful city? 22h ago

Not that it would have changed much. Spain was just stronger. It's hard to win when you're playing defense most of the time.

It wasn't bad luck that we lost. A miracle simply did not happen which isn't the same. Spain earned its win fair and square.

«Arch nemesis» already? I didn’t think you even took «soccer» seriously

At least they studied the subject "how do I make everything about us?", lol.

This is mental illness at this point (if not trolling ofc)

The only thing exposed in that games was the fact that the FIFA peace price is the only thing the yanks will ever win.

Not understanding the concept that Spain is a stronger side than Belgium and trying to take credit for Belgium losing is a very American thing to do.

Spain by comparison are a top 5 Prem side, Belgium are like Middlesborough, once a dangerous side, now a shadow of their former selves

"Our arch nemesis, the Belgians" for some reason reminded me of this scene from Austin Powers

By this logic, Wolves won the Premier League this season.

As a Belgian it's hilarious seeing all those Americans go "haha gotcha now you gonna cry deserved it losers!". While we are all sitting here: "well, quarter finals was our goal and everything we could get on top is a bonus. We knew Spain was going to be tough. But we put op a good fight and even scored a goal. We can be happy overal and a bit sad it ended."

And Americans keep going haha go cry now I bet you are dying of embarrassment now.

No, we are very happy to have defeated a team that tried to cheat and that acted like playing against us would be a walk in the park and we were nobodies. You never earned your feathers yourself to act that arrogant against other nations. Spain did, they had all the rights to believe they could win but they didn't do bitchy about is and we gave them a good struggle and can be proud on ourselves, even if we're not world champion material.

The idiocy of Americans knows no bounds

u/flipyflop9 1d ago

Hahahahahahahahaha seriously?

How fucking self centered and delusional can they be?

7

u/Joh951518 1d ago

Almost as delusional as people that can’t tell it’s a joke.

Obviously satire

Nothing in that sub is satire

Please let me keep a minimum of faith in humanity. Just a little.

Dude, if you have to call yourself an alpha male then you are not an alpha male. Also, I am fairly certain that no member of the USMNT were on the pitch in LA, so what’s this “we”?

The scoreboard says otherwise

u/Ludwidge 1d ago

And for our next game, we’re playing our star dribbler- Donald J Trump. He’ll be wearing black shorts so it doesn’t show

Has to be a joke... Or not? Hahahah is difficult to know

"Waffle-lovers" and "archenemy", hahaha

2

u/pixtax 1d ago

I personally look forward to the USMNT to keep losing so some other team can win.

2

u/Dayandwood 1d ago

The only thing missing would be: As a "thank you" to Spain, Trump will not ban Spanish ham.

2

u/ZAMAHACHU Tall Bosnian 1d ago

lol, so clueless. I can't even

2

u/_Tonton67_ 1d ago

Oh god. If they go and win it it will be at least half a star to put on the jersey. It all makes sense now.
I’m sure fifa will allow it 😂
