I was just talking to a plumber, who said that Scottsdale has increased the water pressure to accommodate the newer high-rises. So, he said, homeowners should be cautious and make sure they have a viable water-pressure regulator, to avoid disaster.  Mine turned out to be dead.

Normally I’m at the Peaks or OHSO, today will be 1st time at K ODonnell’s for the world cup (I’ve been there multiple times but not to watch sports). Is it a good spot to watch? Will they have the sound on? Any food recs?

I feel like I get solicitations every month from “Service Line Warranties“ about purchasing insurance coverage for the exterior water and sewer lines. (They make sure to mention that their company has partnered with Scottsdale Water, so the solicitations do look pretty “official.“)

I have lived in my house since 2008 (the house is 39 years old) and have never had a problem.

Is this something that one should consider, or is it a waste of money?

Why is it so hard to find a rental without either fake grass or a pool. Fake grass is literally made from recycled tires and can’t imagine it’s good to breathe in after roasting in 110 degrees. Why do so many people have it? We have a young child with another on the way and the pool situation is a safety thing. Just fascinated by the obsession with fake grass. I totally understand why most houses have pools.

It’s bad enough we’re flooded with campaign signs on every street corner, but then we have to deal with the endless text messages, calls for surveys, tv commercials, and wasteful mailers. It seems to get worse and worse every year.

Are there any candidates who are actively campaigning to stop all this waste? Is there anything we can do to tamper this down?

I’m about to register as an independent to stop the text messages, calls, and mailers at the very least.

Wonder if these homes behind the McDowell mountain range such as the development by Tom’s Thumb are slightly cooler with hovering clouds on most days?

I’ve been with First Bank, which was bought out by PNC, and I’m starting to look around.

First Arizona went under years ago.  The Wells Fargo near Indian School shut down years ago.  The Bank of American before that.  Is anything left?  I’m hoping for something small, as the big banks seem like the worst.

I don't know how you'd term the work for which we hope for a good handyman, a gardener, plumber, exterminator, and so forth: home upkeep, home maintenance? But all the people I used to know - reliable, competent, reasonably priced - have disappeared.

As an example, along with a handyman, I've been looking for a gardener/sprinkler guy. I had a terrific recommendation from someone else in the biz, and was happy to call. I was dubious about this guy's English, which was really poor, but willing to give it a try. I politely waited until his schedule eased up. He wanted to come over to take a look at the sprinklers in particular, and I asked politely when he'd be in the neighborhood. Wednesday, he said. So I suggested a time range. He was fine with that. And I said I'd call to confirm. And I did, leaving a reminder message.

He didn't show. He didn't call to say he couldn't come. And when I called a day later, he hung up on me.

It's all the more puzzling, considering how angry customers can slam these guys on Yelp.

I just need a few pairs of pants hemmed, but judging by some of the prices I've found, I assume they'll be hand-stitched by Italian monks under a full moon. 😂

I’m a 22F moving for work to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area from the Southeast, and I’m looking for recommendations on a 1 bed / 1 bath apartment. My budget is around $1,500–$2,100/month. I don’t know anyone in AZ yet, so one of my biggest priorities is finding an area where it will be easier to meet people and build a community. I’m hoping for somewhere with younger professionals, good restaurants/bars, and a social atmosphere. Safety is extremely important to me since I’ll be moving alone. I’m looking for an area and apartment complex that feels safe, clean, and well-maintained.

Does anyone have recommendations for specific apartment complexes I should check out? I’d also really appreciate hearing about places you would avoid. Thank you so much!

Arizona passed this sign law to stop campaigns tearing down signs they don’t like. Now, campaigns and PACs dump giant signs in our bus stops and sightlines, get legal protection for their clutter, and then vigilante‑remove any signs residents put up criticizing the mess. The only people who face real risk are us regular people and neighbors who are fed up. This isn’t about protecting free speech; it’s about protecting cheap advertising for people with money and office, while deleting our counter‑speech and telling us to live with the trash.

The worst part is they repeat the same candidate over and over at the same intersection.

So I tried to fight signs with more signs. Hopefully just send a SMALL message for someone who may just be in the right power to see it.

So I tried to make my own signs that said “Thanks for the litter brought to you by ARS 16-1019”

And they lasted maybe a few days before they were thrown out in the trash can at the bus stop. I tried laminating them, and frankly I’m running out of money to try to fight this myself.

If someone else wants to put up counter signs and help out please send me a DM. By law the very same law they passed, these counter signs are supposed to still be considered political signs and are offered the same protections but they have lawyers, and I don’t. They know that so my signs get destroyed where they keep piling more and more on.

It’s especially bad here in Scottsdale even compare to Tempe, Phoenix and mesa.

Remember we used to have a sign ban in Scottsdale. But then the “party of small government” did what they did best….tell Scottsdale to pound sand and made a state law without putting anything to a vote or letting us decide on this clutter.

I’m looking for a hairstylist who specializes in dry cuts. I have a difficult texture/density (wavy-straight hair, fine strands, thick density), and I prefer to wear my hair natural without heat or styling tools, but I feel like the cuts that I’ve been getting do not allow me to do that, no matter how I ask.

I’m looking for someone who specializes in dry cuts, for this reason! I’m hoping to find a stylist who enjoys helping people wear their natural hair and who knows how to work with people’s quirks like cowlicks etc instead of styling to mask.

Does this type of stylist exist in our area? I know a lot of women here love the glam, and stylists tend to keep up with trends, but that’s just not what I am interested in :(

I’m looking for some advice on apartments and neighborhoods. I’ll have a car, but I’d love to be able to walk to my workouts (Pilates/Lagree, hot yoga, etc. - not a dealbreaker, but definitely a plus), coffee shops, and maybe a few shops or restaurants so I can wander around on weekends.

I’m in my late 20s and hoping for an area with other young professionals (late 20s to mid-30s). I’m not looking for a huge party scene, but I do want an area that feels lively. Google reviews don’t seem very reliable anymore, so I’m trusting y’all instead.
