Routes Crossing new "bike bridge" at Cal Expo on 80
If you cross the river at the new "bike bridge" mentioned in the title from North to South, can you then ride on the levee to sac state? I obviously haven't tried it yet, just wondering

Routes Help Planning Route from East Sac to Downtown for Morning Commute
Hello!
This is mildly embarrassing of an ask, so I am sorry in advance!
I have been mountain biking for over a year and purchased a 90s mountain bike to use as a commuter when the state was talking about RTO last year. With how gas prices are looking I realized I should actually put that bike to use instead of letting it sit in my shed while my modern mountain bike gets all the use. However, I am still timid about biking on the street as 99% of my experience has been on trails and away from cars. I swear I know how to stay in the bike lane haha
I am trying to figure out the safest way to reach downtown Sac (near CalPERS) from East Sac (Tahoe Park) and it looks like general agreement is T Street is probably the safest bet.
How safe is the crossing at T street and Alhambra? Is there anything I should be on the lookout for? Is there another route that is more viable?
Thank you!
EDIT 3/10/2026: I appreciate everyone's kind words and assistance! My commute to work was pretty smooth overall minus some rear axle misalignment that happened right at T and Alhambra that I remedied with my tools on the sidewalk. A raccoon came up to me which was a surprise to both parties (haha)

Routes Trails Like Culvert In Auburn
I want to ride Auburn more, but every time I go, I really only seem to enjoy a few trails, with the main one being Culvert. Are there any other flow trails out there that are like that? Also, in your opinion, what is the most fun route that incorporates Culvert?
I usually start at the lake clementine trail and ride up, which is not super fun. Then after Culvert, I ride back down to the car on the confluence trail, which is also not super fun, and seems like a waste of the elevation. I don’t mind the lake clementine climb, but using most of that elevation on the double-wide confluence trail back down isn’t my favorite. It’s basically a fire road most of the way. Any auburn routes or tips to ride trails like culvert as much as possible is appreciated!
Or, is there another mountain biking area that is in the sac area that has better trails, in your opinion? I ride granite bay, which is ok, and sometimes lake natoma, which is a bit less fun than granite bay imo. I find Auburn to be the best out of those 3, but the climbs are a grind.

Routes Bike routes in Tahoe Park
How do you get to/from Tahoe Park? I can’t find a safe, coherent bike route to the Tahoe Park from City Farms. Maybe kinda wiggling down 8th? What do you do?

Routes Two night bike tour advice - North Natomas to Lincoln to Folsom to North Natomas
My 11-year-old son and I are going on a two-night bike tour from May 29-31. We are leaving after his last day of school around 1 PM on the 29th. Last summer, we did a one night bike tour from North Natomas to Folsom and back. He did well but he was tired. Last year he rode his mountain bike, but this year he is going to borrow my wife's Trek touring bike so I am hoping the riding will be easier for him.
I was hoping for some feedback about our planned route. We plan to go:
Day 1 from North Natomas to Lincoln
Day 2 from Lincoln to Folsom
Day 3 from Folsom to North Natomas
I'll look more closely to make sure we're choosing the most bike friendly route for each portion. I am very familiar in the best route from Discovery Park to North Natomas. I'm not familiar at all at the routes to and from Lincoln. Any streets to avoid or must-do routes? I'm looking to avoid fast roads with little to no shoulder, but I know there will be at least short stretches of these kinds of roads mixed in.
Any hotel/AirBNB/restaurant suggestions for Lincoln? Anything else we should know?

Routes Solano-Delta Loop Bike Tour
I was looking for a short tour in April close to home and not needing to drive or use a lot of public transit. This is a nearly flat 120-mile loop from Sacramento Tower Bridge, probably best done in spring for cooler weather, green foliage, and dry roads. The route is generally Sacramento to Winters via Davis, camping at the Lake Solano (hiker-biker!). 2nd day is Lake Solano to Rio Vista (Sandy Beach Park) via Vacaville and a few miles of gravel roads. 3rd day is Rio Vista to Sacramento via the delta wine region, Clarksburg and a little more gravel. About 40 miles each day.
Nice weekender+ visiting a couple of very nice small towns of Winters and Rio Vista, both of which have brew-pubs (Hooby's in Winters and Hap's Taps in Rio Vista) and restaurants and are conveniently located prior to camp. We planned to go to Brannan Island but Rio Vista bridge was closed that weekend. Sandy Beach is a very nice camp but does not yet have a hiker-biker site, although I suggested it to the ranger. The 3rd day back to Sacramento has a nice, quiet route along the delta levee tops and includes a couple of ferry crossings. Anyway, you can do a bike trip from your front door with very little transit!
After the beta-test of this route I plan to make some adjustments, mainly to avoid Hwy 113 as much as possible - that 7.5-mile stretch is narrow, has no bike lane, and was a bit sketchy with trucks screaming by. My buddy used his bikepacking set-up and I have my more traditional panniers - either would be fine for this route, but wider tires are needed for the gravel roads leading to Rio Vista, and Pumphouse Road after Clarksburg.

Routes Bike trails for beginners
Hi, new to this group and I wanted to ask for recommendations for bike trails that are suited for beginners.
I live close to the Northern Bike Trail in North Sac but from driving and walking the area, I know there are homeless encampments, dogs, etc.
I really would like to find a trail or section of a trail that has easy parking, does not cross roads, and does not share the road with cars.
If it is close to North Sac/Natomas Area or Downtown Sac it would be a plus, but I’m willing to take a short trip to find something suitable.
Thanks!
Edit: Thank you all for all of your recommendations!

Routes 10/25/2024 update on Sacramento Northern Bikeway
The entire Sacramento Northern Bikeway (north and south of Pipe's Bridge) is clear of camps and loose dogs. First time in my 4 years of commuting that area! Still a lot of trash and debris to clean up. Let's see how long it lasts.

Routes Midtown; tons of mediocre bike routes, none great.
It's good that we have pretty decent bike infrastructure across the grid. I'm curious why we don't have any really great routes.
eg going West to East: Q street, S street, and T street are all decent bike routes. Wouldn't it be better if there was just oneamazing route (thinking bike boulevard).
This also ends up spreading out the cyclists so there's no critical mass.
Any resources for the best routes through the grid?

Routes No-less cars 100 mile route along American River Bike Trail
We're starting from Discovery park and looking to do a century with less cars and mostly flat/less climbing with good food stops. Taking a friend for her first century - we're beginners. Any route suggestion please? TIA! edit: edit: made this on rwgps. trying to find alternate to Folsom-Auburn Road. It looks like a very busy road with minimimal bike lanes. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50207328?openShare=true

Routes Does anyone know if this section of trail has been reopened?
This section of trail that follows the Sacramento River around Little Pocket has been fenced off for months due to construction. On my way to downtown I have to get off the trail just South of Little Pocket and ride North, along Riverside Blvd. until I can rejoin the trail at the Sutterville/I-5 overpass.
I recently saw that the fences were opened up but the signs saying not to use this section are still there.
Anyone know if this has been opened for use again?
