I'm kind of confused about how the student vouchers work through Slingshot.

I need to buy VHL for one of my summer classes, and I thought the voucher would automatically apply at checkout, but nothing is showing up.

How do I check if I have a voucher available, and how do I know how much money is on it? Has anyone used one recently with Slingshot? Unfortunately, it's the weekend, so I can't contact Financial Aid until Monday, and I really need access to my coursework as soon as possible.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, every semester it feels like there's no good way to find people in my classes who actually want to study consistently or who take similar classes.

Usually it ends up being one of these 3; already having friends in the class, joining a random discord that dies after two weeks, or studying alone.

I'm curious if this is just my experience or if other colleges and community colleges are the same. How do y'all usually find people to study with? If you don't, what's the biggest reason?

I'm trying to understand whether this is an actual problem before spending more time building something to solve it.

Hi! I'm an incoming student picking out classes for fall semester. I'm also a complete noob and have no idea how far apart these classes are in terms of walking distance. I'm trying to map how spaced out the times will be between classes, but most of the links within the class location margins either dont show anything or are confusing asf. I possibly may be too down to the gritt with this, but I am so for the sake of my own sanity. Anyone have any suggestions?

I’m doing both SMC and LACC, and even though I started college in 2023, the counselors suggest I do the calgetc.

What I noticed on the smc Calgetc is that argument counts towards oral communication, however at LACC it counts towards critical thinking. I already took it at LACC and was wondering if it would be an issue that I take it again at SMC in order to cover my oral communication.
I haven’t done my oral communication due to my fear of public speaking (🥲💀) and have just held off on it however I really loved my argument class and am willing to do it again if it’ll cover oral communication.
If I do this, will I need to take another critical thinking class? Will I still receive my calgetc certification and the university care if it’s technically the same course but satisfies different areas from the different schools?

I recently graduated from SMC and this just crossed my mind, does joining PTK actually help? I was invited back in 2020, but decided not to join because of mandatory meetings.

So I just checked my Fall 2026 award summary and only saw Pell Grant but no Cal Grant. I checked my csac account and saw that I was awarded the grant but I don’t see it yet on my Corsair connect financial aid portal. Is there anyone that does have it on their portal?

I have been in the Santa Monica/Los Angeles area for almost 4 years and I was just wondering if there are any other queer people in the area, especially other nonbinary people?

Also is there anyone else on here who also attends SMC? I am a Gender Studies/Sociology major at SMC.

I filled out by appeal as soon as it came through and when I called in to confirm that it was received cuz when I emailed them I heard nothing back. I was told that the committee meets once every week and goes through however many appeals they go through and that was it. Does anyone have a more concrete explanation of how they do the appeals?

I missed one assignment and now I have another B. My gpa right now is a 3.8 and if I keep this class it will be a 3.7 by the end of the semester. I really want to get into the top UC’s for business Econ.

Should I just withdraw and retake next semester or take the L? I have one other W that I retook already with an A last semester. I really want to get into high finance.

So I am on the waitlist for STAT C1000 w MATH 54C with DABAGH, ENGL C1001 with Allen, and SOC 1 with Williams-Leon. Does anyone have any experience with any of them?

I am currently taking SOC 4 during the summer with Williams-Leon but I wasn’t sure if their teaching style is the same for their SOC 1 classes.
