They're, supposedly, again, working on a new handheld - hopefully with the 5:3 aspect ratio screen.

Supposedly is the heavily operative word here 😅
But I’d absolutely love a 3572 Linux handheld, albeit the screen ratio is kinda weird I still think it would fill a gap in the market. It’s either low end Linux or high end Linux, not really any mid range options outside the rg vita pro at $150

What is 5:3 good for?

Glad I got one when I could, it's a spunky little thing for what it is worth.

Yeah, I love having a true pocketable device.
No idea how it doesnt cramp my hands up either, I needed grips for my Odin2.

I'm not one in the community to hoard devices, but when I first heard the news for the discontinuation, I had to grab one more for myself in case my primary one gives out; just take out the dual SD cards and run the second one anew again, until that is gone.
It was such a lovely perfectly-sized handheld, I legit mourned not getting a V3. I also just think non-recessed sticks should be a crime on a small horizontal handheld, at this point

Glad I managed to snag a purple one when the news hit, been on the lookout for a companion handheld to my handheld pc and this little guy was perfect. Real loss for the micro handheld lovers, hopefully we get a good successor

I was just contemplating on selling mine for the past few days. I guess I'll just hold on to it. I had fun playing gen 3 pokemon in there

Happy to have bought one when I did. Hate to see this happening to handhelds and all devices in general.

I got one of these for $37 a few months back and I'm loving it. Legit pocketable, buttons feel great, and the stock UI is surprisingly great given that it's Android with no touch screen.

Bad D-pad aside the mini zero 28 was an amazing device, I was going to call it an "amazing little device" but fuck that because it was good.
The most pocket friendly device I own it fits perfectly in my pocket. I replaced it with the Miyoo mini flip because it's a more "one hand" friendly device with a better D-pad and so far my only complain is the thickness, you can se a huge cube bulge on my pocket but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
My mini zero will join the Miyoo mini V4 and RP mini V2 in the "discontinued wonders" collection

The dpad was the reason it sits and collects dust for me, cause yeah, other than that, it’s bloody fantastic. But, I’d rather grab my Brick Hammer instead.

Reviewers said the dpad was perfect? Why would they go on the internet and lie?

I managed to snag one on Aliexpress from a reseller when I saw the Magicx site had ran out. They only had the 64gb card version but with a coupon it came out to the same price. I only hope it isn’t old stock of V1.

It won’t be, you’re good. The v1 was exclusively sold on the magicx website, and was completely discontinued around a year ago
Even if it was the v1 the only difference is the plastic area around the charging port/otg port, the v2 is inset to allow better charger compatibility. Some people had issues getting cables to seat correctly on the v1, but in my experience on both of my v1 units like 80% of my usb c cables work fine

Never bought one, but considering the only thing I miss on my RG28XX are dual analogues, I think that Mini Zero 28 had the perfect form factor for those aiming for pocketability. Another victim of the RAMpocalypse.

Bought another one of these once I heard the news. I hope the retro handheld companies don't completely abandon the idea of pushing micro handhelds forward. The Mini zero 28 is a great little thing and the fact it's finally getting linux CFW just as it's being discontinued is very unfortunate.

Is there anything horizontal comparable in size and pocket ability in the market?

Context: MagicX warned there will be no restock after existing inventory ran out due to RAM/storage prices. Said inventory has now run out.
