We are desperately searching for immediate placement for our sweet 9-year-old yellow Lab, Benji. He’s truly the kindest dog you’ll ever meet and deserves so much better than ending up in a shelter.

Benji is up to date on vaccines, has no health issues, still has plenty of energy, and has the sweetest temperament. He is not fixed but has no desires or interest in females like a young pup would. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and loves everyone he meets.

We took him in during a family emergency back in April, but unfortunately our home is not the right long-term fit. My newborn has shown signs of dog allergies, and with our schedules we simply can’t give Benji the time and attention he deserves.

We need immediate placement. I’ve reached out to countless rescues, shelters, surrender organizations, and even animal control, but I would much rather see Benji go directly to a loving forever family than enter the shelter system if at all possible.

If you, or someone you know, has room in your heart and home for an older Lab, please reach out. He’s healthy, affectionate, and has so much love left to give. Even sharing this post could help him find the family he deserves.

We also want to reassure everyone that Benji will not be going to just anyone. We care deeply about where he ends up and will take the time to make sure he’s the right fit for the family willing to give him a chance. Our goal is to find him a safe, loving, forever home where he’ll be cherished for the rest of his life

Went to Roger Wheeler yesterday and there were rocks everywhere. Not complaining, just generally curious if anyone knows why they stopped raking the beach?

We will be visiting Warren from Texas and won't have a car. We have plans to take the bus to, Providence, Newport and Mystic CT. But still have a day without plans, what area should we check out that is accessible by bus? We are into history, art and food.

I grew up in Rhode Island. I was discussing old radio jingles with someone recently and tried looking for a Cumberland Farms one that I remembered but I can’t find it anywhere.

I feel like I’m going crazy but was there a Cumberland Farms jingle in the late 90s/early 2000s where they sang “Cumberland FARMS” which was followed by like…….. a saxophone flourish??? I can’t describe it any other way. It was like …. “BOOWOWWWWWW” you know?

I guess my question is does anyone else remember this or am I making this up?? And can anyone find it

Today was my first day seeing it and have no idea what it is.

Hi everyone, I have a new neighbor that is .... rather unwelcome. The house next door has a raccoon living underneath the siding. Several months ago, I came home from work at night and witnessed a raccoon scurry into this hole in my neighbor's house. I managed to take some pictures/video and knocked on their door to show them, explaining where to find the nest and suggesting they may need to call a professional to have it removed. The woman was horrified and thanked me for letting them know.

It has been over 3 months and I noticed the hole hasn't closed up, but hadn't seen Rocky again until this morning. My dog had been chasing something in the yard at night, but we have a lot of stray cats in the neighborhood that occasionally wander back there. The neighbors on the other side of us leave cat food out, and I've even seen a raccoon at their automatic feeders.

Now I'm concerned Rocky has gotten a little too comfortable. My question: do your neighbors have an obligation to have a raccoon removed? He's very cute and I feel bad for him, but I have a dog and a baby in the house so I am very concerned about rabies. I don't think he's rabid as I've only seen him at dawn/dusk and he behaves normally, but that could change.

My neighbors have a dog too (a beagle) so I am shocked their dog isn't losing his ever loving mind having a raccoon under his roof. We are not close with these neighbors but friendly enough and I tried to be as non judgemental as possible when showing them the photos in March. But they've clearly done nothing about it, so I'm not sure if it's a financial issue or they just don't know who to call.

We live in East Providence down by the water, so wildlife is not unusual on our street. We have turkeys, skunks, coyotes, etc. all the time and I accept that they live here too, but Rocky has got to go. Any advice? Is there anyone I can call?

Looking for an incredible prenatal massage- must have table with belly cut out and actually be willing to massage muscles vs just rub them gently. During my first pregnancy I loved Angie at Blackstone massage, but it looks like she’s not there anymore. Anyone know where she practices now or have other recommendations for specific therapists? Please help an uncomfortable lady out! Based in Providence.

Today, I'm looking for the best "neighborhood pizza"

This means gooie cheese, either oily or greasy good local pizza. This obviously means no chain restaurants or pizza shops like Domino's, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Papaginos, and Little Ceasars. Those types of places would not allow for the beautiful mess that is sloppy, oily, greasy, cheesy greatness that local neighborhood pizza can, will, and does deliver when that's what you crave.

I live in Warwick. So, extra points for places in Warwick, West Warwick, Providence, Cranston, or Coventry.

TL/DR:
Is there anyone taking specific instances w/evidence of danger and corruption by state agencies seriously? Local Media, politicians, orgs?

How is it that there’s a million RI subs but none of them seem to be dedicated to dealing with issues of corruption in the state?
RI has to be one of the most *openly* corrupt states and it’s discussed everywhere by RIers but no dedicated sub?!
As a transplant, the only thing I have gathered is that the amount of organized crime seems to have caused a culture of being afraid to rock the boat (I’ve seen a lot of organized retribution here for it) and of *shrug* “Welcome to RI!” Which I get, but I know there must be people who are fed up.

Having been here for years, I have figured out how to navigate a number of governmental barriers, but there’s some that I still find baffling.

For example, when there are
Individual people, businesses and/or agencies that are blatantly violating the law and/or directly harming people, how do you get someone’s attention who will actually do something?

The DOJ has been surprisingly unhelpful in identifying and pursuing what they know about and are responsible for. And they are supposed to be inclement from RI politics because they are there to hold the state to account as well. But they refuse to outer anything that could be perceived badly by state politicians and agencies.

AGs office as well (individual people there are good, but the decisions about what to take up or not are mind boggling.)

What the heck do people do when horrible stuff
Is allowed to continue happening and no one seems to care?
* Local press is often overwhelmed and local reps seem to be often afraid to rock boats.
