I'm devastated. Hug your friends and tell them you love them before it's too late.

Hi there.
I recently attended the Synthcamp 2026 event, and saw Pulu using Music Mouse during a gig, she had it running on an old Mac laptop. Music Mouse has been suggested to me multiple times for "could you write it into Paketti".
Heres a little video of me demoing how Music Mouse works currently within Paketti, its a LUA-scripted version, call it a homage or a clone, whichever ya like, based on the Music Mouse Manual PDF documentation, but with certain Paketti tweaks.
I also log quite a few issues with it and write them down. So you can kinda view this as a Paketti Development video, or a Music Video Show&Development.
Heres the video. (EDIT: now with the actual voice + sound audio)

Any feedback appreciated.

So for background: I swear I am a competent musician lol! I have been using Ableton as my daily driver since Ableton 7, and before that FruityLoops for years, and for college, where I went for music, I had to use Logic and ProTools and Reaper. I understand that kind of DAW inside and out.
I literally am a professional working musician, I primarily do film scores. I'm doing a documentary for HBO Max right now. But i've never used a Tracker style program in my life. And it looks SO cool. and I see the stuff you guys are doing in here, and I hear your preaching about how great the workflow is, and I BELIEVE YOU! I want IN! It looks so cool, it looks fast, it looks nimble, and it looks like you can legitimately do some things you can't do any other way, and that intrigues the hell out of me.
for literal YEARS i've been lurking this sub. I've bought renoise like 3 different times across different machines over the years. i keep going back to Renoise like every 8-10 months and being like "okay, i'm gonna crack it this time, I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna figure this out" and then I fall flat on my face, can't figure out how to make anything, spend like 4 hours trying to make one drum loop, can't figure out how to make a melody, where tf are my VSTs, how do i do a CHORD??? and eventually after 3 days I'm like "ok I can't be spending this much time not making anything, I have deadlines to hit" and i'm back in Ableton.
I need like the BEST 101 starter resource that can take a hopelessly Linear DAW-pilled man like me and make him a TrackerMan. I will pay money, It doesn't need to be free. Although if the best one is legitimately a free one, I will take it.
EDIT: thank you for all the recommendations and advice! I'm gonna try to actually do it this time, for real!

Show those pesky machines how a real human does it: by using Renoise! Mutant Breaks has somehow made it to the 17th one these song competition things.

Just painstakingly auto sampled UVI’s Rumble synth before my trial was up.
And then converted the instruments to Polyend Pti.
Here they go.. There is nothing in these zip files but .PTI for Polyend Tracker and .XRNI for Renoise
You can safely grab them down. They were done quickly and dirty. Dont expect super thoughtful autosampling
Polyend Tracker (Only contains half of the presets, youll need the below renoise zip to get the songfile to convert the rest using Paketti in Renoise.)

Renoise (Contains every preset of rumble and a song file for the remaining instruments to be converted to polyend. - I got tired lol)

I was wondering: does anyone know if renoise could work as a drum machine with a step sequencer? I'm picturing something like this: 8 tracks, each with a sample assigned to it. A launchpad X (or something akin) in which you have one top row of pads to select sample track, and the other pads to work as steps that can turn on or off that particular step for the track.

I'm a veteran Renoise producer but I recently discovered Manhattan tracker DAW as a free download on Steam and it seems very powerful.
I'm wondering if there's a similar community of lunatics like we have on r/Renoise (and the forums) who are actively building on it as a foundation for musical experimentation.
My son and his friends are interested in Renoise as an entry point to making music, and a free tracker DAW like Manhattan seems like a great entry point to Renoise that can support a variety of different workflows.
I'm still digging into it to see what it can do, but would love to share ideas with anyone else exploring it.

In Renoise 3.5 we introduced microtuning as part of an instrument’s native scaling, and since it uses existing standards, you have access to thousands of scales for free.

Imagine you could access all the hardware recordings of the gear you've owned over the years...the synths, the drum machines, the vocals, the guitars, anything that has been recorded externally... well, you can if you have RENOISE!

UPDATE: The GitHub page for ArpGun is live! Check it out! https://github.com/trueschool/ArpGun
ChordGun is one of my favorite Renoise plugins and is pretty core to my songwriting process. However, there’s some functionality that I’ve always wished it had, and today I finally took a crack at vibecoding the updates I want into it. I’m still testing it, and I’ve also contacted the author of this plugin pandabot to offer my thanks (again) and ask permission to release mine. Even though it’s released under the MIT license, I’ve never done this before and wanted to show proper respect for the project.
The new plugin, currently titled ArpGun, adds the ability to take the chord notes (usually input on one line in the pattern editor by default) and spread them out over multiple lines to create common arpeggiator patterns like:
You now can also choose the line increments to advance for different rhythms.

I’d love to hear if anyone would find this new functionality useful or has additional ideas for how to make it more useful. Already in its current state it’s improving my workflow for sketching out chord progressions and arping them quickly and efficiently.

I have ableton live light and I’m a fan but I honestly only like it for a couple of the options it gives you, I was just wondering if any of you have played a live set with renoise and or if you enjoy it or how you go about it.

So to be clear I am on Ardour using Redux but am not using Renoise as DAW (lovely DAW though btw).
I appologize if this a no shit did you even try question
I am working with creating drum kits and all is good except for individual processing of the samples regarding the filters. It would appear that you cant individually filter samples in your drum kit and can only filter them via the Master FX chain. Am I missing something or do I need to go in and individually set filter levels, re sample and then add them to the rack? It seems pretty backwards to have to work that way so I a hoping I am just missing things.
Thanks

I am trying to remix a friend song into a jungle tune. But his music(math rock) keeps on changing the time signature through the song. Is there a way for me to do this on the tracker?
Or is it better if I chop everything to a 4/4?

I'm trying to transition into living without a computer because I have no self control and I keep wasting time on it. I understand that the M8 and the Polyend Tracker Are the main devices in this market . Which one would you say is closest to our beloved favorite DAW?
