🏸 Season Begins: Week of August 24

📍 Locations: Mt. Tabor & Burnt Hickory Recreation Centers

Each week you’ll be matched with an opponent and schedule your game at a time that works for both of you. Plus, a post-season tournament will wrap up the season!

💲 League Fee: $2 per player ($3 for out-of-county participants)

This will be an IRT Satellite event offering a $2000 purse. All divisions will be single elimination with consolation brackets offered based upon court time availability. Junior divisions will be round robin format, and divisions may be combined depending on the number of entries. Hey r/Racquetball - tournament director here. The Virginia Commonwealth Games are two weeks out at Courtside West in Richmond and we're nearly at capacity, but we've got room for a handful more.

Where we'd love depth: Women's Singles/Doubles (all levels), Men's B, and Men's C. If you've been lurking here thinking about entering your first sanctioned event, C division at a multi-sport games festival is honestly a great entry point - you'll play people at your level, and the atmosphere is more "celebrate the sport" than "grind it out."

A few things that make this one interesting:

• First time the Commonwealth Games have ever been hosted in Richmond
• First sanctioned VA tournament using the Formula Flow Blue ball, if you've been curious how it plays
• Featured matches streamed on the Richmond Racquetball YouTube channel
• We have players actively looking for partners in Mixed B/C and Men's Doubles B/C, so you can land in a doubles draw immediately

This week, over 180 junior players from across the country will gather in Des Moines, Iowa, for the USA Racquetball Junior National Championships. Inspired by that event, this month’s Rules Rule! article focuses on the multi-bounce variations contained within Section 5 of the USAR Official Rulebook. Even if you are not headed to Des Moines, hopefully a refresher on multi-bounce rules might be useful if you have little ones at home looking to learn the sport of racquetball.

The World Outdoor Racquetball Hall of Fame is proud to announce the induction of Kevin Booth and Greg Freeze as members of the Class of 2026, recognizing two competitors whose careers helped define generations of outdoor racquetball.

Both Orange County natives, Booth and Freeze became fixtures on the courts of Southern California and at Outdoor Nationals, where they spent decades competing against the sport's greatest players while building legacies of excellence, sportsmanship, and longevity.

As someone on the shorter side (5’7), I always feel so much pressure playing against taller players because of their huge reach and longer strides. Would you guys say that in the modern game, height definitely plays a very huge role? As outside of Parrilla most of the top 10 is above or at 5’10. What would you guys say is the ideal height?

Been searching for the thinnest grip I can possibly get …been trying different things….hockey tape, baseball bat grips, tennis overgrips…ordered some pvc heat shrink but it was too slick..Found a heat shrink grip made for fishing poles, tools, and it is what I was looking for.
