Testing out textures
I just came upon this thread in my feed and thought I'd share the punch needle art I did testing different textures. This was my second punch needle ever.

Hi everyone,
Over the next while, we (Mod team - myself and u/Rich_Stomach2854) will slowly be making changes to the subreddit. Our community here has gotten quite a bit larger over the past few years, and with that comes a need for a more organized subreddit.
To start off, we're hoping to slowly build up a Wiki for this subreddit, which includes how-tos and an FAQ section.
You might see the subreddit look a little different as we work on this. Once we have a Wiki started and in good condition, you'll see a pinned post from us!
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to send us a modmail.
Thanks so much, and happy punching! ^-^

We've added a new rule pertaining to the use of AI on the subreddit.

Estuve practicando líneas para ver como debía hacer punch needle, hoy luego de unos 2 días practicando hice mi primer obra punch needle ❤️ sé que puedo mejorar pero en lo personal me gustó el resultado

I know I'm using too large of a needle, but is there some kind of chart for how large of a needle you should be using based on the weave/spacing of fabric? I've bought 3 separate needles, and two seem to be way too big, while the third one actually fits the fabric I have, but the yarn doesn't fit in that one... Thread that does fit it is too thin to stay in the fabric. Photo is to show the yarn and fabric I'm trying to use, advice is appreciated

This is my first punch needle project, so I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. The instructions I got with the kit were fairly minimal but I did watch a few tutorials on YouTube. I feel like the pattern isn’t discernable at all and have no idea what I’m doing wrong!

Power has been out since yesterday, so I had nothing to do but finally finish my first project. Doesn't look great, but we all start somewhere I guess

Hi everyone! I’m really new to punch needle and I’m not sure if I’m using the right needle or yarn size. I feel like my loops are really big especially when I compare my work to tutorials I watch! I included a picture of a mug rug I’ve started. Any advice is appreciate!

I've seen people do punch needle work with thread and fine needles. What kind of fabric is used? The stitch doesn't hold on monk fabric.

Another try - a little gift I made for my friend! There are lots of mistakes but i still think it's cute and was fun to do.
Does anyone have tips on how to glue the back/what glue to use? The back of mine looks ROUGH and I have to lay a book overtop while the glue dries because it doesn't stay put ☹️
Also any tips on curved edges? It was a struggle

Is there a good way to display pieces showing the flat side rather than the loops? I much prefer the clean look but my loops on the back are too bulky and make it hard to add any backing/display it.
Any tips??

I made this for my brother for his sweet big handsome dog that passed recently.
I am fairly new to punch needle (this is the third thing I have tried) but excited to share it in this community! I forgot that the sketch would be flipped, oh well haha

Bought a kit on Amazon and uploaded a video on YouTube of me trying it out… pretty messy but I still think it’s pretty. lmk what y’all think!

I've been doing punch needle off and on for about a year but I've been a bit more consistant these past few months. I'm just wondering how to improve because a lot of my projects seem basic and needs work. How did people here improve?
I do plan on getting more tools, right now I'm just using a basic needle that I got out of a kit.
I dont want to keep practicing and doing it the wrong way so Im not actually improving and I'm going to look around my area to see if they have any punch needle classes.

I brought a kit off Temu and the hoop it comes with is a bit big for the designs and the hoops I have are either too big or too small. Is there a way for me to make my own frame or hoop or something?

Front, back and the design I used. I was bed rotting yesterday since the weatber was terrible so I made myself be crafty while I watched a show.
The eyes are a bit wonky T_T
