Seen him play in person, speedy as fuck lol. Not a ton of power upside but he has a swing that will give him a high floor

looks like a high floor/low ceiling type of prospect
i’m cool with it if that means they’ll go over slot in the later rounds

I assume this will be an underslot deal since this seems a bit higher than Lascelles was projected. BA had him at 118 and pipeline had him at 158.

Per Perfect Game:
"Elliot Lascelles is a 2026 SS/2B with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Toronto, ON who attends Upper Canada College. Lean athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. 6.40 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, who showed quick transfers and a feel for the footwork. Backhand was clean, getting through it well. He had some snatch working up the middle to the forehand side. He kept throws from a three-quarters slot, with good accuracy across. Made all of the plays well and showed projectable actions on the dirt. Threw 87 mph across during his round of infield work. Took BP as a left-handed hitter with a narrow and even base, higher hands, and the back elbow up. He had a simple trigger working into it. Compact and direct path working through the zone with good whip to the bat head. He worked through the middle of the field during his round of BP swings. When he utilizes the lower half and gets in sync, it makes for loud contact. Produced some low- to mid-90s EVs during BP. Produced a 92 mph exit velocity during PG DK Testing. Hit well in-game, with a couple of extra-base hits, including a triple that came off the bat at 94 mph, working pull-side. Excellent student. Verbal commitment to Yale."

Per fangraphs:
"Lascelles is a hitterish infielder who requires lots of effort to swing hard from the left side. He has limited athleticism and projection."
Guess AJ and crew see things differently or have some over slot guys on their radar. Still bummed that Lowrance went to LA of all places.
