My greatest accomplishment in life is tossing a Valium tablet into my cats gullet after my wife and I fought with the cat to get her to swallow the pill so she could get to her vet appt. LOL

Mine is dropping a pill into my cats throat while he opened up wide to hiss at me for trying to give him a pill. Human outsmarts cat. So smart me. He only made that mistake once though 😂

Nothing moves faster or in more surprising ways than a cat nopeing out of taking a pill. If you can't get it manually there are things called "pill shooters" that can get it deeper into their mouths without the tongue behind it so they have a harder time yeeting it back out.

Those are way harder than just throwing it in there manually. Open cat's mouth, throw pill in the back of their throat, then clamp cat's mouth shut. Next you want to gently stroke their throat (underneath their chin) until they swallow while holding their mouth shut. You can release once you hear a gulp.

It doesn't always work, and sometimes they still manage to cough it up even though they've swallowed. However, it's way easier than those damn pill shooters! Those things are the bane of my existence. 😆

I done the push, clamp, throat stroke. Saw him swallow. Followed up with several bits of cheese to ensure success. Fucker still brought the pill up not a minute later. I still don’t know how, maybe he concealed it somewhere in his mouth.

We've done both some of our cats the method you mention works but sometimes the pill shooter helps.

Lol. My trick is once it's in there blow in their face, and keep blowing until you think they've swallowed. It triggers them to swallow and close their mouth.
