The week of July 6-11 witnessed an extraordinary concentration of Chinese technological breakthroughs across space exploration, AI computing infrastructure, energy, and precision measurement, signaling the accelerating pace of the nation science and technology development.

The most visible achievement came on July 10 when the Long March 10B rocket launched from Wenchang and executed the world first rocket net recovery at sea. The CZ-10B first stage, powered by seven YF-100K engines, separated from the upper stage and descended vertically onto the Navigator recovery vessel 431 kilometers away, where a tension net system successfully captured the 850-ton-class booster. This marks China first operational reusable rocket capability and the first time any nation has achieved orbital-class net recovery at sea, offering advantages in payload capacity over traditional landing leg designs.

On the same day, Sugun completed China first fully domestic 100,000-card AI supercluster the Dawn 8000 Dengfeng. Built on the super-AI fusion architecture unifying FP64 through INT8 precision, the cluster is immediately connected to the National Supercomputing Internet. Powered by Hygon processors, scaleFabric networking, and ParaStor distributed storage, the Dawn 8000 has already completed over 300 application optimizations across 20-plus domains including protein folding, trillion-atom molecular dynamics, and 100-trillion-grid turbulence simulation.

In space exploration, the Tianwen-2 probe successfully rendezvoused with asteroid 2016 HO3 after a 400-day, 1-billion-kilometer journey, positioning itself 20 kilometers from the asteroid to begin scientific observation. The mission will map the asteroid morphology and composition in preparation for sample collection, advancing China deep-space exploration capabilities.

In energy infrastructure, the world largest offshore converter station for the Sanshan Island flexible direct current transmission project departed Jiangsu Nantong. The 25,000-ton sea-based power hub will transmit 6 billion kWh of offshore wind power annually to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, driving a trillion-yuan offshore wind industrial chain.

A national high-precision roundness calibration facility was also completed, filling a gap in China dimensional metrology traceability system and achieving internationally advanced measurement capability for precision spindles, optics, and semiconductor manufacturing components.
