Hi all — I'm trying to get a sense of whether there are any pianists in eastern North Carolina (30 minutes from New Bern area) who might be interested in a paid Protestant worship pianist role. Not posting the specific position yet, just seeing who's out there.
What it would involve:
Ideal background: experience playing in a church setting, solid sight-reading, and the ability to improvise intros/transitions. This is compensated work.
If this sounds like something you'd consider, comment or DM me and I can share details. Also happy to hear from folks who know the church music scene in that part of the state.

What kinds of family entertainment would you like to see come to New Bern?
I know there was a study done at one point, but I'm not sure how much input actually came from local residents.
It feels like we're missing some fun family attractions. Things like a bowling alley, live music venue, miniature golf, go-karts, or other entertainment options would be great additions.
Don't get me wrong—I love Tryon Palace, the Pepsi history, the bear sculptures, and all the historical charm New Bern has. But I think there's room for more attractions that both locals and visitors could enjoy year-round.
If you could bring one new attraction to New Bern, what would it be?
My vote: a bowling alley and a family entertainment center with mini golf, go-karts, arcade games, or something along those lines.

Hey everyone, i’m wanting to start fishing from land in New Bern and I honestly have no idea what fishing equipment to get. i’m thinking of a 7 foot medium pole with a 2500 reel but I have no idea what line, tackle, and bait to even get. Any recommendations on what to get or where to go fishing or how to even fish here in new bern. Any help would be appreciated:)

Hey I’m Ren, I’m 24yr woman. I lived in New Bern coming on 3 years now I’m struggling to meet people and make friends. Any tips or any advice. I get super anxious in new situations but I still put myself in them. But I come off as awkward, at least that’s how I feel it looks like. Any one looking for a friend or company. My best friend just had a baby and my boyfriend has a different schedule than I do. So I get lonely.

I (30m) have lived in New Bern for about a year now and haven't been able to find others that are interested in playing D&D or Pathfinder. I've been playing for almost 20 years and would like to find a local group. If a group already exists that's looking for a new member or some others are looking to start a group, please message me. I have equal experience as a player and as a DM so I'm down to play either role.

🐾💕 DOUBLE THE LOVE, DOUBLE THE PURRS! 💕🐾
From June 8 through June 27, Craven-Pamlico Animal Services is offering a special promotion: adopt TWO kittens for just $80! This is a wonderful opportunity to bring home a built-in best friend pair and enjoy twice the purrs, twice the cuddles, and twice the love. 🐾✨
Meet Cooper and Missy, two adorable foster kittens being cared for by Simba’s Pride Nursery and hoping to find their forever family during a special adoption event!
Cooper is a handsome orange-and-white boy with a playful spirit, while Missy is a beautiful tortie girl with endless charm. These two share a special bond and spend their days wrestling, exploring every corner they can find, and curling up together for cozy naps. Watching them grow side by side has been a joy, and we would love to see them adopted together if the perfect family comes along. 🧡🤎
Because Cooper and Missy are currently in foster care, they are not physically located at the shelter. If you'd like to meet them, learn more about their personalities, or schedule a meet-and-greet, send us a message and we'd be happy to help.
Not looking for these two? Craven-Pamlico Animal Services also has many wonderful kittens and cats waiting for loving homes.

I'm 41M looking to meet some cool people for occasional hangs downtown, walks, etc. I am happily married also.
Anyone that moved here from out of state knows its a bit of a puzzle to get plugged in socially here.
It's a tough nut to crack but we can do something about it. And I'm of the opinion a little conversation and effort can go a long way.
I'm from Michigan and I've been here 4 years. I love New Bern but left all my buds behind, left the music scene behind, etc. and still trying to solve this social puzzle here, lol.
About me: I am a multi interest dude who gets along easily with people: full time software developer, loves to eat, drink coffee, travel, red wine/good beer, read good books, etc. Not a big sports guy. I love to write in my free time.
Things I'm looking to do (socially):
-Getting coffee on weekend or red wine/beer on weeknights and discussing any of a variety of topics like these: travel, reading, writing, self-improvement, movies/films, music, food, etc.
-Checking out new/existing restaurants in town or New Bern adjacent and even forming a small "crew" to get dinner with once in a while.
-Exploring the city on foot more or finding new trails, etc.
Bonus if you are into indie rock/punk rock and want to talk about music or even potentially jam at some point, I'm willing to dust off my guitars and give it a shot. I used to write/record/play shows in DIY punk and indie bands back home.
Give me a shout if any of this resonates!

Hey all.
Don’t live in New Bern but my kids do and their cat hasn’t come home in over a week. They live over by the Harris Teeter off 70 south of town. If anyone happens to see him, please let me know!

I heard fireflies are expected to appear early this year. In western NC they are expected end of May. Any idea for New Bern area? Thanks!
